Discontinued Thermovape Cera

We really brutalize our batteries. A 15W Cera core draws a little over 4 amps. For a 600mAh 14500 IMR that's almost 7C. It's a wonder our batteries last more than three or four cycles.

Boy isn't that the truth. A classic 'end justifies the means' deal. Anything less than AW IMRs don't seem to stand a chance, note of the ones I tried were worth the effort. I hope the mini Cera carries more battery, but even if it doesn't I know it will do well and be 'just the ticket' for some. Especially the oil cart is seriously potent this way.

I haven't played much with it. After we get caught up ill start trying stuff out more.

A little background here might be useful? Help folks that are interested understand a little more of what happens 'behind the curtain'?

The rub with higher voltage is wire size, physical size. When I asked Tim to make me a custom high resistance (higher voltage) cart he hit the wall at 1.2 Ohms because that was all the wire (in inches) he could squeeze in the package. IIRC he took it from 8 to 13 turns before troubles hit us. To move forward the size of the wire (diameter) has to be made smaller. Then a shorter length will provide the higher resistance and we can fit it all in the space needed.

The bummer is this is not off the shelf wire. If TV was using normal heater wire they'd be fine, but this stuff is way special (as we know), basically a custom order deal. They have a spool I was using yesterday that has something over a mile of wire on it. A coil needs maybe 2 or 3 inches. That's a pretty good supply, they won't need more anytime soon. But when they get serious about higher voltage carts (and I hope it's soon, I want more than 1.2 Ohms.....) I bet they have to go through the whole exercise again with a smaller gauge wire? Then for mere money and waiting the'll pony up the bucks for several lifetime's worth of it on a spool smaller than a soccer ball.......

Tim and I tried 'bifillar wind' (two or 3 parallel runs in the same space) using the smaller wire they have from their prior products (two sizes, LOTS of it left....) but that didn't allow us to connect the ends as designed. My guess is the base (threaded part) might have to be modified too to work with the smaller wire??? Not simple, or it'd be done. But IMO it will happen in due time.

Is it just me or do all cera owners have this :
my wife thinks I'm vaping much much more because she sees me holding the cera in my hands whenever I can but I just really really like to hold it, put it down, look at it, take it apart, putting it together, etc etc
this thing is like a lava lamp, you can keep looking at it ! (insert drooling emoticon here)
So buyers be aware...buy more tissues because the drooling doesn't stop when you have yours !

There are ways to throw the wife into the mix...maybe get her loving that Cera a bit more? I massaged a knot out of my leg with a warmed up Cera, the other day :smug:

Edit: I popped my smooth flow tip in just now and it is a SEXY beast. I will try and grab a photo later...I can see why OF? said it was fun to use this way.

well, the wife is already thrown into the mix, she's the reason why I might just pick up another cera, too bad the etching wasn't available yet, it would be great to see a "his" and "hers" on the desk ;)
Also, I'm sorry (for me) that I have to say this but just a few minutes ago we proved that my wife has a much higher "pain" threshold than me, while I was starting to think the mouthpiece was getting a little bit too hot she kept abusing it like it came right out of the fridge haha so I guess it's sometimes
hard to give a correct answer to some questions about the cera because I think it will be different for everybody just like there will be lots of different ways people use the cera.
For me, I like to start after 20 sec heat up and then do a few slow inhales.
I get vapor and (for me) plenty of it from the first or second draw but I guess some will call my plenty vapor just a whispy hint of vapor :)

You know, that brings up a real good point. The engraving I think is local here. At one point Noah offered to have TV 'front' for us. I think that still holds, that is they will link us up to their laser engraving vendor (who did the engraving on the old line).

IIRC the charge was small (under $50?) but you need to provide the artwork of course and pay for 'two sides' since the unit needs to be rotated as it's engraved.

Anyway, if you contact Zeki (or someone) there and get the information I'd like to get involved as well. I know a guy that wants it, and I probably will as well. I think the shop is between their shop and my house, perhaps we can work out a deal where I take the body over and bring it back my next visit? It a resource I don't think detracts much from their efforts to get products out and I'd like to see the option open up.

TIA

The Cera cartridges are already LV (nominally 3.7v, same as the Ultra). Many of us are hoping for a 510 adapter, for a variety of reasons.

Best,

bopper
Might be a silly question, but here I go.
So can I use my batteries from the LV EVO for the Cera?
(same one that were provided by TET) edit: AW 17650 3.7v 1600 mah
is 1600 mah not enough?

I don't think that will work, not because of lack of power, but the fact that it just won't fit in the Cera without an adapter. The 18650 cell is about 15% bigger overall than the 17650, and the 18650 cell is what the Cera is based around.

Yeah, sorta. The battery from TV is a 17670 and is AW brand not Panasonic but it is 1600 mAh.....one out of 3 ain't bad....but it does power up the Cera OK. About on par with the AW IMR 18650 when I tried it. OK but the TV supplied batteries are better (a bit hotter and longer lived).

Again, it's 67mm long, not 65. It's actually a bit longer, but not enough to keep Cera from working. It rattles a bit since it's 1mm narrower, but that's not a big deal nor easy to spot once the spring is tight.

I can't seem to get good vapor production out of the GL cart. I get some vapor, but nowhere near what the ava attomozier in my alphamax was putting out. It gets plenty hot, figure it'd have me choking on vapor by now. Has anyone else had a different experience? btw, the ceramic plate inside the core seems to be loose when I nudge it with a toothpick.

My plate is loose as well and I was told it is normal. Don't nudge it ;). I have been getting good, strong vapor out of mine. Can you describe your approach?

I've tried slow inhales, fast inhales, combos of both. What else is there?

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
Update on shipping:

We are working on LL cores to get the LL orders caught up with the EO orders, the EO Vaporizer orders are about 2 weeks ahead of the LL. We switched gears to get the LL orders on the same orders dates. Expecting another 17 orders to go out today alone!!

Were starting to pick up speed assembling, each step is more and more refined and taking less time to complete. Keep bearing with us, its faster every day!

Cheers,
Tim

Awesome news things are picking up on the production and shipping end. I look forward to re-ordering when the turnaround is within a couple days

Perfectly normal. The plate is captive in there, not clamped in any way. It has to be that way or it would shatter with temperature changes. Concentrates tend to 'glue' it down, but obviously not completely.

How are you adding the liquid? Can you hear it cooking inside the core? I get vapor as thick, if not thicker than what I showed in the EO video.
I add 2-3 drops when it gets "peppery". I can not hear it cooking in the core unless the mouthpiece is off and my vapor is nothing like the eo video.

Does the top of the plate look dry? I'm betting you're running to lean and therefore hot......

How much (weight wise) do you figure you have in there?

The top plate gets wet. Last night I added a little more each time until I could taste raw liquid out of the mp

I would try loading up around 10 drops and let it soak in...then vape away as normal. I can't say for sure, but I think the ceramic in the E-liquid cart can benefit from a hefty soak like the EO. I am sure OF can verify or deny.:)

Edit: You should be able to hear it cook/gurgle.

I'll give it a shot at work tonight. If it's still acting up by morning and thermovape hasn't emailed me back, I'll give it a good boil tomorrow Afternoon. Maybe that will make it work right.

Not really sure, remember I'm not a juicer..... But that's my thinking as well, the reservoir isn't saturated yet, we're only working with the surface not the bulk of it so it's getting hot and not making vapor?

I don't think it has to be all that warm like with oils but maybe that wouldn't hurt?

Once it's well saturated and gets dried down it should behave normally. I do know they used to talk about 'break in' on the AVA atomizers, I recall a video on that very topic.

Heat and concentrate is how you make vapor, it should be working.......

Worth a try I think as well. Something's not right here, it's a simple system after all.

Have you used the Cera with other carts without problems?
Reason I ask is to eliminate the power or handle connections as the problem.

Wish TerpX would come down to San Diego!! The closest they'll get is Los Angeles and even then it's mostly only at CPA. I really don't like the guy that runs the place, I don't want a second of my time to go to him, much less my support... hopefully it'll be somewhere around LA that's not CPA when I'm up there...
