Thanks for distilling those tips, Vessel. And thanks for the vid, slain. I've been trying some things, like inhaling like it's a straw or cigar, with better success. Figuring out the optimal way to use something like this is a really fun part of the process.

I have a question. I understand that bowls should be packed only in the trench, and no higher than the top of the trench. Fine. The thing is, whenever I stir up the bowl between hits, it's kind of a hassle to open the cover and poke around until all the herb is back in the trench. What if I shake it up, most of the herb falls in the trench, but maybe a third or so is scattered around the screen above the trench? Is this going to hurt the unit if I continue hitting it like this?

I find with my (old) unit, that with the herb finely ground, after shaking, one can easily get the herb back in the trench. If some does stay on the sides, its not a huge deal, nor do I think it will do any damage, though I could be wrong.

As for poking around in it to get it back down, id say its not worth the potential damage to the screen. Id use the brush, if anything to do that...

I just hold mine level, and tap on each side, until the herbs all in the trench.

Purpl3_Haz3,
So after watching a couple of videos with users using the PA, I figured the PA adjusts the temperature of the MFLB by increasing or decreasing the voltage going into the MFLB.

Given that the stock batteries are 1.3~v, I didn't know how much more the box could handle. If just 2V or even 3V.

I had some AA sized Ultrafire 14500 3.6V 900mah sized batteries that I had bought for my flashlight that could be run at 1.5v or 3.6v.

sku_6240_2.jpg

So essentially I had a 3.6V battery source (twice the power of the stock AA battery) that I could use with the MFLB. So I figured I'd give it a try, possibly giving a hotter temperature.
[it should be noted that on vaporedia their is talk of nizn batteries which are 1.6V having mild success)

The Results:
Near instant MASS quantities of vapor made, filled the box and and started coming out of the draw hole instantly upon insertion. Power lamp shone intensely brighter. I pulled it out right away, and inhaled getting burnt flavor along with normal.

Further draws from the stock AA batteries have distinct burnt taste, which will hopefully go away with some intense iso cleaning. Can't tell if there is additional discoloring or blackening.

Moral of the story:
Don't use 14500 3.6v AA batteries in the LB. The results will be a way too hot burn, which may cause damage.

I think the box is calibrated to be at vaping temperature with 1.2 Volts, so this batteries must combust.

Ive been meaning to make a trench flipping video. Soon.

Just turn the box on a slight angle and tap the side lightly with your finger and (if ground fine enough) all the herb will drop back down into the trench. I've got it down so when I lightly tap on the side repeatedly the herb tumbles like a dryer inside the trench. One or two good smacks upside down to dislodge all the herb 1st, followed by tap trench rolling :p

My friends are saying... "Oh dang, I just missed the box with the latch". I already said how I feel. I would use the band regardless.
For those of you who feel the "other pastures" syndrome.. and feeling like you will not "be in style" because your box has no latch....
Let me tell you a bit about being "en vogue".
Once the world is full of the new box... and you are at a gathering... and you bust out with a "pre latch MFLB"...
You are the one walking that vapor trail in style... as your box will mark you as a "SEASONED VAPORIST". Nuff sed. ;)

Sure. But can you really have too many of these magical boxes? I like the latch and I'll get a second box because of it, not because I need the latest and greatest, but because it's a great design addition and I can easily dedicate different boxes to different tasks.

Exactly.
We are a 3 LB family here (and considering having a 4th).

@Vaporgin.... what's the trouble... not enough heat?? too much blackening.. talk to us.

Vitolo I saw a vid where u puffed on the LB for the a second and on exhale a nice cloud, I dont get anywhere close to that. And I always seem to blacken my herb, while other pieces are nice and green, I mix the trench every hit.

What is the secret

Sour Deez-
We all have our own "secret" for hitting the box. My secret is timing.
I carefully time, how long I am holding in the battery, and what you can not see is that as I sip/swallow, each micro puff, I am not continually holding the battery in.
I hold it in a few seconds... take 2-3 micropuffs... release battery... draw fresh air.. hold battery in again, do a few more micro puffs.
It does not hurt that I have a huge lung capacity.
Timing is everything, like the first time you drove a stick shift, you get used to when to let off the gas a bit(battery).. and push in the clutch (increase breath) and when to accelerate ( puff/sip).
I will encourage you to go to YouTube, and see JDSupremes vid on how to hit the MFLB.....
then after that it is just practice till you find your "way" :)

Are powerex 2700mah nimh batteries safe to use w/ the mflb ? Like they won't cause any harm to the unit- I've tried searching this forum but I am only able to find this thread and no individual posts on these batteries. On the other hand I've read lots of posts else where of people suggesting these batteries in particular, being easy to find and working better. as for a charger, Will the stock mflb charger charge these powerex 2700 in the mean time ? Any suggestions on if and what kind of charger I should get ?

Also, is there a website for PA, I am sure its been asked quite a few times, I believe it was you Vitolo who posted a link, but it didn't work for me :/

Just tested it. Try the link now. PA for MFLB
Ahh also, note... you may note be able to open this link from the email notification.... you may need to open it right here on FC! :peace:

Powerex 2700's work just fine for the MFLB. You can use the MFLB stock charger to charge them. If you want to take it to the next level, I recommend you get the Maha CH-9000 Charger. The PA is where it's at though.

You can get them on deal extreme. though I really wouldnt recommend them for the mflb. After it being inserted for less than two seconds the loaded trench was ruined.

Just an update on the 14500 3.6v battery situation.

Further draws from the herb that was used with the 14500 had distinct burnt flavor to it. cleaned and put some fresh herb in, and I was back to normal! So no permanent damage.

I'm tempted to try again with a drained 14500, though I will definitely check what the voltage is before I use it to make sure it has dropped some from the stock 3.6v.

As a side note, anyone with a PA and a multimeter? I'm curious as to what the voltage range the PA puts out.

Hey guys,

Just thought id express my joy for the Power Adapter. I ran out of good batteries for a while, and put my faithful box to the side for a bit. Once my power adapter came, my box expressed the long missed feeling of being used, and is working extremely well once again. I love this thing :D

I'll be posting a review video in the upcoming week or so

Yeah, I feel that way about my early box - no O-ring, 'low' serial #. Unfortunately, I am almost exclusively a solo vaporist - although I've enlightened a few to follow the vapor trail. Vitolo, is the convenience of the battery push-back device worth the nominal cost of a retro-fit?

Yes it is. The pushback ring has great value.
There is hardly any cost. They can be had for around 3 dollars for a pair, shipping included at MFLB PushBack ring
Or for 80 cents each ( but with 5 dollars shipping) from MFLB/Blissville.

If you contact blisssville they will ship some small items for way less than the $5 priority

If you are running your PA at top heat setting, you may be too high (no pun intended).
I played with my PA for many many hours, and piles of herb to get my technique where I wanted it.
Now that you have power setting control to play with there is a fine line that needs to be found... at about 1/2 to 3/4 of the dial, I found my particular sweet spot...... where I knew I would not combust if I held the button in too long... just a hair below the "blackening spot'...
Then I found my new "PA timing".
Even though on a constant power level now, I back the button off a second here or there, when I am not actively sipping
I get better control if I am not dialed over 3/4 of the way.

I run my PA around 3/4 at first, then slowly dial down to about 1/2 power when the taste gets harsh. Lower temps = tastier hits of toasted trenches
