I think you are over analyzing this. I'm pretty sure she was referring to wood color. :)

::reaches down and picks up his LB, examining the contents:: I'll have to confiscate this too.... :ko:

Little disappointed with my 'almost' new LB...not because it doesn't do the trick :mmmm: but because the screen is tearing along the heating elements. Anyone experiencing the same issue? Mine is only couple of months old....and no, I'm not overheating it...I think.

That shouldn't be happening :( good news is that's 100% covered by their warranty. Send them an email!

Neither of my two boxes have had that happen. Of course, I kinda pulled the screen outta one and rendered it useless, so it never had the chance to get there...

Hi Quetzalcoatl, thanks for your reply. Sorry about quality photo...but I took it with my phone and it's hard to focus.
The screen is not coming away but it's tearing along both metal heating elements. My worry is that the heat will not travel to the bottom of the trench and not heat up my herb.
Wanted to hear if it's just my unit or if it's a normal wear/tear case before contacting them for a replacement.

@SeriouslyHigh- the area where the screen covers the rails on my LB seems similar to yours but i think mine has a few years on you. If i had to guess, i notice some light marks right below the rails on the screen and it shows that you might been a bit too rough while brushing the trench of your MFLB. only light brushing is needed and is purely for aesthetic reasons.

I've been SOOOO delicate while using the supplied brush to clean it that you have no idea! The whole screen looks very fragile to me and never applied too much pressure. And I've only brushed it twice!
My first vape...still learning my ways around.

Yes that happened to my first box too, I had it for about eight months and it started to tear along the same place. I'm on OZ and bought my box off an Aussie supplier, but they replaced it for me. The new one is nine months old and still seems ok, I bought another one as back up if something happens to the current one, don't want to be without one.

LOL...there are other ones on the market, even in OZ, and some are even better!

That's actually not how the LB works. The rods are simple electrical conductors, there are no "heating elements" in the normal sense, the screen itself gets hot because of the current through it, like overheated wiring (but of course planned). The heat is generated all along the surface (it doesn't "travel down" anywhere) and actually 'collects' near the floor of the trench by design.

What can happen is the spot weld for each tiny strand can break at the rods from mechanical stresses. Usually that's the owner being a little aggressive going after the resin deposits that tend to collect on the (cooler) rails. The general advice is to leave that alone. It tends to stabilize on it's own at a reasonable level most find.

Not everyone cops to that of course, and there could well be other reasons (this is uncommon but not rare?). The welds have to be there. If, after redoubled effort to not disturb it, the breaks continue you'll have no choice but to send it in. However, if it has so few actual breaks that it functions well and doesn't degrade more there's no reason not to vape on.

    Good luck.

Hey OF...thanks for your lengthy explanation and I'm very glad to hear my LB will still do the job. After reading your post I've decided to keep it as is and if it gets worst will send it in for a replacement.
I can guaranty I didn't mechanically stress the screen: as you can see the unit is pretty new and I don't use it a lot.
Besides, I may retire it soon since 'thanks' to the forum I've discovered and read good reports about the FV and I'm thinking to upgrade my unit to something that gives a bit more of a kick...and the FV sounds all too good.
    cheers

You're very welcome, glad to help. I hope the little rascal hangs in there for you, if not MF will back you up.

I'm not 100% sure I agree with the last part. I really like my FV, more so now that there's the S2 to play with, but it's not a MFLB. Personally, the box really is magic in a way. It's a great tool for what it does, is fun, easy and satisfying to use (in many cases). Mine still get visits from time to time for more relaxed sessions. I have several MFLBs but don't expect to get more than this one MFLB.

    "Don't sell the box short".

    Best regards,

@OF ... don't get me wrong! I'm loving the little box!! It's probably the good CHI of those guys who make them or what's written on it. All I was saying to the Aussie fellow is that I was finding amusing having a LB as a backup for a LB. That's all.

Great news. Ya kinda scared me with that retirement talk.....don't want you doing anything rash now do we?

BTW, I assume you're going to also get the S2 kit for your FV? Just got mine, but it seems to make it a whole different vape, easier to control....at least for me.

    Good luck.

LOL, not planning to retire the cute wooden box! How could you enjoy a movie at the cinema without the LB!
Watching Wim Wenders' Million Dollar Hotel and puffing away....can't get any better!

I've read about the S2 package for the FV, does it really make such a difference? Huge clouds?

Why is that amusing? I have 4 LB's. My original intent, was to purchase two LB's, and have one for back up. However, I have found myself collecting them.

Hey Vicki, I have 12 surfboard in my garage and they are all different. Each one has its own length, volume, age, different style of riding, shape, etc.
As I've said before, although I've been smoking for over 20 years, I'm still relatevely new to vapes and --like my surfboards-- I'm finding each vape useful for a different vibe, occasion, herb.
This is why, since they are not cheap, I prefer buying different ones and get to know them better.
But hey, maybe is the weed talking here, lol

I've been vaporizing since 2006, and have tried several types and brands of vaporizers. After all this time, I have found the the MFLB is best for me. It conserves incredibly well, and medicates me perfectly. So, I don't mind buying more than one.

Since you are new to vaporizing, of course you will want to try several different types as well. :)

Yep I think that's it, gotta find the one that works the best for ya! Kind of like finding your life partner, right? Gotta try several types and brands! :-)

When you read my post for the first time you'll see I bought another MFLB because they're so good.
