What matters, I think, is I'm reporting what I was told. You're guessing based on basically unrelated experience with a goofed up order? IMO a big difference.

When I got mine it was just as the latching tops were coming into use. They specifically told me I'd most likely be getting a latching lid box if I needed one in the future.

Again, rather than guess perhaps someone should check? Until then all we have to go by is past experience and the written policy:

"Not all problems are repairable, however Magic-Flight will work to issue as near an equivalent a replacement as is available in such cases."
    http://www.magic-flight.com/warranty.php

To me that means there's no guarantee that they will have anything past the 'standard model' to offer you in the future.

IMO telling folks flat out "nope you get like for like, they will replace the exact unit you purchased, etchings and wood type included" is not a statement folks should take at face value.

    i can accept that,
maybe i should had told him that was just one guys opinion, (but he already knows that)

    your own advice?

    looks pretty flat to me???

"Not all problems are repairable, however Magic-Flight will work to issue as near an equivalent a replacement as is available in such cases."
    http://www.magic-flight.com/warranty.php

this is exact statement is what leads me to believe they will be able to honor the warranty of cherry and walnut units as they now run production lines full time so they will be as available as the original line of maple units

i do not accept my experience is unrelated, and i would give the same advice again, furthermore i offer my advice freely and don't really appreciate you dismissing my experience as though you are THE authority, repeated dismissals of others information as "guess work" in favor of your own, is not conducive to a healthy discussion, though at no point have i tried to dispute the merit of your opinion

though this was a doji order i had to follow the same procedure as a warrantied item,

but Vicki has emailed them to ask so i guess we shall find out,

Please read it again. "As far as I know" is definitely a qualifier.....it is no longer a flat statement of fact, right? What I posted is exactly true, to the best of my knowledge.

I can't apologize for agreeing with Vicki, I won't try. Nor should I, she's right IMO......

So what makes you think that such wood will continue to be offered? While those two have been offered twice now (AFAIK) for brief periods, many of the other woods they've offered in the past they no longer do. When I asked this specific question they told me they make no provisions to keep the old versions around so you can get "the exact unit you purchased, etchings and wood type included" as you tell the nice guy to expect if they modify the product fruther. How can you possibly guarantee that "the exact unit you purchased, etchings and wood type included" I just can't fathom. Even if you worked for them, that's a tough promise to keep.

Maybe not like for like if not possible, but I believe if they still have walnut and that's what you had that's what you would receive, if not I believe you would be offered whatever wood replaced it for that run, if no premium boxes available then standard box would be supplied.

    I tend to agree.

But back to what you can count on: The guarantee is that you'll be able to vape. You'll have access to a box that functions. That's the guarantee. Which is why, for instance, the bulb is not included (it works OK without it). There is no guarantee of cosmetics. They will no doubt do the best they can but telling another Forum Member 'don't worry, they'll replace it exactly' is not factual I believe.

There are Birch boxes out there, as well as ones without lights, rings or latches. The replacement you'd get today is Maple, has a light (there have been at least 3 types of them.....), ring and latch. No other options. That's what you get.

I just don't want some innocent fellow taking such assurances on the web as fact and being disappointed down the road. IMO the information we pass around here has to be the most accurate we can make it to be useful.

Easy to solve, someone contact them and ask if they guaranty replacement boxes identical to the current offerings in the future. I'll be very happy to be proven wrong.

Have you guys had good experience with the lifetime warranty? I just don't know how much I would want to send something I've been using to vape herb with in the mail... sounds like an easy way to go to jail.

At least I heard back from magic-flight.com today on an order I placed on Sunday that finally shipped out today. Was hoping to get it by Friday when I ordered it but I'll just be happy to get the power adapter, walnut stem and 2 foot whip that I'm anxious to get!

They don't make you send it back to them. I had to pull the screen on mine and take a few pictures with specific markings on the box at their request, and they immediately sent me a new one out afterwards. I believe my turn around was 2, maybe 3 days max? I live pretty close to them so shipping is understandably shorter.

Just ordered my MFLB from Vaporizers.ca. Ordered yesterday but still hasn't shipped, so hard being patient.

I went ahead and bought one of the maple stems as well, as I know I will end up breaking the one that comes with it at some point. First Vape, very excited.

Magic Flight got back with me about the warranty question, but I completely forgot to post it here!

I asked them exactly how the warranty works, and that some people believe they give a maple LB replacement for all warranty claims. They said that is not the case. The warranty covers the same box you purchased. Maple for maple, cherry for cherry, etc.

So, now that mystery is solved. :)

    I'm loving that!!!

Thanks, Vicki. That doesn't square with what they told me, or what's posted on the web. I wonder how they'll handle Koa, Fiddleback and the others? And I assume it's only the wood that is matched, that is model changes and upgrades are not optional.

Well I'm not really supposed to tell you but MF has roughly 3 exact copies of every exotic wooden box they've made cryogenically frozen in an undisclosed location. You have to tune in to a specific number station and do some logistics to find a dead-drop package which contains coordinates to the real map.

Pretty sure MF already dispatched their quick-kill team. I wonder how much farther I can get away with this, last I heard they were just abo

    I'm just kidding :D

(about the kill-team, anyways. It's cold in the cryo building  )

I don't know what to say. I quoted Tina Marie verbatim when I said, "The warranty covers the same box you purchased. Maple for maple, cherry for cherry, etc."

They only have one model, with different wood types. What upgrades are you referring to?

My understanding is there's the regular boxes, the "premium" wooden boxes like the cherry, walnut, etc, and then there's the "exotic" koa/etc. The three tiers if you will, that's how I see it anyways. Your warranty should theoretically be lined up with the tiers, such that if you have a T2 walnut, the warranty will get you another walnut and not a T1 standard-kit box.

They do only have one model of the LB, with the incremental upgrades (click-top, color of screen, etc). I think it's a bit much to ask MF to replace your 2 year old koa without the latch, for a new one with the old screen color (not that color matters anyways) that's NOT utilizing the ball. I don't know how disruptive to the creation process it is, I would assume that it's as streamlined as possible and holding up the line for a singular special order on something that hasn't been done for some time now might be asking a bit too much??

Then again, they've always gone above and beyond with me, so perhaps I'm wrong... I should probably put MY box away for a little bit... "should."

It is my understanding that it goes likes this:

    Regular maple
Exotic cherry and walnut (available all the time, X is before the serial number on back of LB)
Limited Edition (LE is before serial number on back of LB) koa, etc.

Besides Cherry and Walnut. What are the exotic versions? Koa is the only other one I've heard of. Wish I knew about these before I bought the walnut one... would have bought an exotic

Understood that's their intention. The warranty a "Functional Warranty":
    http://www.magic-flight.com/warranty.php

My understanding of this stuff says that means they guaranty you a box that works, not necessarily the same model. I was told as much when I asked if they'd have a walnut box to replace mine with, that may have changed but the official warranty does not reflect that.

There have been at least 3 light upgrades, boxes with and without o-rings and latches as I said before. At least four major models (original, with lamp, then with ring and lamp, then with latch). Now we have fancy covers. I don't think they ever intended to replace 'the same box you purchased'?

That would be my point exactly. They no doubt intend to replace as best they can, but guarantying years down the road they'll have a cherry box with that exact fancy lid for you I don't think they do.

I agree, they're a great outfit with top notch service (and a fair bit of my money....), but intents, promises and guaranties are all different. Fine distinctions in the abstract, but very important when push comes to shove.

When I got mine there were 3 grades of Maple, Koa, Walnut and at least one other. I had a tough time picking and almost bought the Fiddleback Maple later on (kind of wish I had). Those were limited production, then again, the Walnut and Cherry now offered could well go that way if demand falls off?

AFAIK the current site lists all available. In the day you contacted them and they sent you a list of what was available.
