Got the Zen from them, shipped on...I think Friday & got to my house on the eastcoast Monday morning, freakin awesome. It has a tan base, seems like maybe a slight residue of glue around the knob, like a finger print perhaps, but I had to look extreme hard to see it, otherwise its just an SSV without the bag. I just got the EQ a couple weeks earlier, its nice, but it doesnt do it for me like the SSV does, I love it. Oh, the one I got is the hands free connection, I just packed one on the full side, 3/4 & it went forever with two of us pulling on it, she likes to get close to combustion I think.

But anyway, no worries, they were fantastic to me in emails, A+. Plus the SSV is sweet, I cant stop looking at it while I'm hitting it, & vice versa.

Enjoy...:peace:
Zen really is the best color I think.

Esp in the sun or under good lighting. I dont know about the tan base though, thinking if I could make a custom base, I'm pretty good with wood & I have some different types of exotic material, a little bud holder & stuff, maybe even a wand hanger.

Anybody know of any custom base projects?

Hi everyone!

This is Richard from 7th Floor. I'm a customer service rep for the SSV, DBV and the new LSV websites. I imagine that I've spoken with some of you ladies and gents before...

I've been lurking on FC for a while now, and I've finally decided to become active on the site so I can be a part of the discussions. If there are any questions/comments about 7th Floor, feel free to send me an email. =)

Whats the point saying this? I sent you an email through here 3 weeks ago (asking about my SSV thats been on order for over 6 weeks now with Head Change) and still no reply at all..SSVRichard decided not to reply or write back to my email so I figure they only really care about people that order directly from them..???

SO BE WARNED!!!
:2c: Anybody ordering a 'custom' model on the West Coast (anything other than standard silver) I would suggest either ordering it directly from 7th floor, or buying it in a store where you can see it on the shelf... any of this "its going to be a few weeks wait" can easily become "I'm hearing from 2 other retailers that they are in the same situation. One of them has units backordered as far as 10 weeks ago. "

Apparently.... EVERY SINGLE RETAILER on the west coast of the USA has to order through 'Head Change Distributors" So if your on the West coast and buying a DBV or SSV through ANYBODY other than 7th floor I wouldnt be surprised in the least if your order takes 1-2months MINIMUM to complete...

Ive been waiting 6 weeks now and only have is "So as of right now.. they are unable to provide us with any solid ETA on when the rest of our stuff is coming. It's the standard "we are filling orders as fast as we can response". All I can tell you is that eventually it will come, I just don't know how long it's going to take. "

This really sucks, thanks for not replying SSVRichard and thanks for being so shit "Head Change Distributors"!!! What A crap birthday Ive had this year (my only present was the SSV).... I guess I will just cancel my order and get something else this is beyond a joke.

My SSV came in yesterday! Came in A LOT quicker than I thought it would take. Took two days from the day I ordered it from Colorado to Florida. I'm so, so, so happy with this vap. I've hit my friends vaps but this one really has that heavy vapor to air ratio I really enjoy. I can conserve a lot as well if I'm in a conserving mood haha. Took me a few hours to really get used to the machine but once I did it is without a doubt the best vap experience I've had. Also, I assumed they would send me that standard connection since I bought it directly from them as a blemished model but mine came with the spherical ground glass connection. I was kind of upset at first as I prefer the smaller air hole of the standard connection and getting a slightly denser hit but the sgg connection works very well. Definitely going to replace the base, heater cover, wand and knob to something a little more my taste. (Not a big fan of the rasta color scheme, I'm not in 7th grade anymore.) I can't wait to customize it. 7th floor was also very helpful with customer service and everything was ordered, shipped and received just perfectly. Glad I had a good experience with them as opposed to some other stories I've read. Anyways, here is a picture I took a little earlier. I'll definitely post more later when the ladyfriend gets back with my camera.

Congrats & enjoy. The yellow is a bit bright indeed, you could also paint the base yourself and save a few bucks if you like.

What's the nature of the blemish on yours?

Would I need to use a special paint or does that part not get hot enough for it to matter? Honestly, I can't tell. There is a torch scar on the glass knob but I can only tell if I feel it. Apart from that I really can't see any blemishes. I'll take better pictures soon and show you guys what's up with it. :)

Ah, that's not to bad, and it's even replaceable if you want to.

It doesn't get so hot that you'd need heat resistant paint if that's what you mean, but it can't hurt either if you happen to find it in a colour you like.

i was on 7th floor`s website and i typed in my canadian address and it said that they dont ship here. Has anyone from Canada ordered a SSV directly from 7th floor before? I know many people probably have but i thought i should ask anyways :p

Would i have to contact 7th floor directly and place an order by phone?

I ordered from their ebay auction. I'm in Canada. The phone order should work if you really want to go that route.

Also I'm using a SGT carbon filter with my bong - the whip/gong connection isn't as great as it was just sans bowl but it hits smooooth now. :ko:

Better to be safe than sorry and I mean if I already have it I might as well use it.

Stunning Work.

Yea, the Dude is awesome, LOL.

I got the SGG connection on order, I guess it never stops, lol. My buddy at 7thfloor recommended the SSG over the standard, sounds good to me. I was thinking of something crazy, but I'll just go with the basic glass, shit then I'll be looking for custom glass...& then bong connections & so forth. Looks like I stumbled accross another hobby. I'm loving the shit out of the SSV though, I would have to say its now my most favorite home accessory. The wife loves it too, I think a little too much if you know what I mean. I'm getting set to make a custom base for it, I have some cocabolla, stuff is heeeavy, the only thing the SSV is missing is a base with holders for your stuff.

Question on the SSV please, How long do you rekon I can leave a loaded whip plugged in before it starts to vape on its own? or will it even do so?

Thanks...

You could have worse problems, I always say that couples that vape together stay together

About the whip, you could leave a handsfree whip in the heater cover for quite some time. I have done this both purposely and accidentally and have never see it begin to vaporize on its own. As long as you are hitting it occasionally you will be fine IME.

Just wanted to share my experiences so far with my new SSV. First off, thanks to all of the folks here who helped me in my quest for the best vaporizer (for me)! (Too many of you to name!)
I own both the HA and the SSV. Though I have had more issues with getting my SSV working properly, like an abused spouse, I keep coming back for more! I have owned mine for a little over 2 months now, but have only been able to use it for about 4 days due to issues with the knob at first and now the glass heating element. The folks at 7thFloor have been great, but I can barely wait to use my surfer again!

While it sits there awaiting a piece from 7thFloor, I decided to take a vaporn pic to get a fix:

Beautiful green finish! One thing that I haven't fully come to terms with is why the business end (where you connect the whip) is on the opposite side of the knob that someone puts so much effort into. I keep mine on a shelf, so the knob is essentially invisible.

Bought a pretty old SSV unit of someone for very cheap money. I was wondering if someone could help me figrue out about how old it is. It still has the harder style tubing on it and the wands are different as you insert the wand into the tubing instead of the other way around, it also doesnt have the SSV engraved in the front just a sticker on the bottom that says silver surfer vaporizer some saftey guidlines and then 7th floor llc. not sure if anyone can help but thanks in advance.

FLskwat,
Greetings, fellow Vapor Heads :peace:

I've been lurking around the forums for the past few months soaking up tons of new information and figured it's about time I contribute something back to the community. I started my daily vapor lifestyle in 2006 when I cruised down to the local head shop and grabbed an SSV for $180. It was easily the best investment that I had made yet as a daily toker. Being able to enjoy smooth rides on some tasty and tasty vapor waves...instantly converted me to strictly vaping and I refused to ever put a flame to my precious herbs again.

After the first week of riding the wave I began to reminisce about the fast, direct hits that I could get from a heat gun setup that a friend had. I wanted a quick vapor delivery method for the SSV so I stopped by the local home improvement store and picked up a 10ft coil of 3/4" O.D. x 5/8" I.D vinyl tubing. I snipped about two inches off of the coil and slid the small piece over the SSV wand. The wand fit nice and snug into the downstem of my 18.8 guage ice chamber. This little mod gave me that heat gun feel I was looking for. I prefer the ground glass heater cover + wand because it fills my ice chamber much quicker.

Here are some pics of my SSV/DBV wand mod + Ice Chamber setup. I find this to be the most efficient way to use my SSV/DBV. Edit: BTW this isn't the same SSV that I purchased in 2006 (I sold mine when they came out with the powder coated black SSVs) and I've gone through probably 5 wands since I first started riding the wave so the wands pictured are much newer than the original wands that I once had.

Did you loose or broke that knob?

What kind of tube is that btw? Right now I just use my tube as a moutpiece with the rest of the whip attached to it, but I thought about using my SSV like that but then with a slide instead of wand (or rather a Hakko mod with SSV heater cover but that's basically the same thing). Do you prefer the wand over a bowl/slide, or have you never tried it without a wand?

Thanks man! The knob broke off but I honestly prefer not having a glass knob because it allows for a low key and simplistic look that I'm a huge fan of. I've tried it with a bowl/slide before but I prefer using the wand because then I can harvest the delicious wand hash.

That looks precarious. Have you tried about a foot of tubing and letting the ssv sit normally?

I find it to be quite a solid setup providing that you aren't prone to dropping things out of your hands while you're inhaling. The first week of owning my SSV I indeed did have it sitting on my desk with a foot of vinyl tubing. I didn't really like that the vapor had to take the time to travel through a foot of tubing before reaching my Ice Chamber and I also noticed by the end of the week that the tube had collected a lot of material from vaping so I decided to get rid of the tubing entirely for more direct hits.

alright! I am done buying vapes! haha enough is enough! ordered one from gratefulbuys using the fcme discount got it for 238 shipped. + a free SC grinder was thrown in by the website.

I went for the classic style attachment, it's sweet knowing you can change em up later anyways.

I was gonna buy a blemished one on ebay for 190, but it didn't come with the travel bag, and the shipping was 31 bucks. This means it would be the same price all said and done than what i paid for the brand new (un blemished) one what comes with the bag and a space case grinder!

i'm pumped. :p
