Personally, it makes since from a design standpoint. They want you to be able to push the flowers down into the chamber. The silicone is touching the heat chamber. If it was made of another material people would not be able push the flowers down in to the chamber very easily. It feels similar in concept to the DaVinci loading chamber.

I have not seen how the cap goes on but I assume it rests on the silicone? It would make since that pushing down on the cap would push it down into the silicone making it more airtight and improving airflow. I have not see up close how the lid/cap works so I could be completely off base.
I think you're right and pushing down on the cap for 2 seconds pushes the ring to activate the heating element.

More of less then a DaVinci? Not in thickness but volume. Does that make sense?
I say more.

Is that plastic around the bowl or teflon?

There are some high temp plastics out there but it would be nice to know what it's made of...

Read the thread. Puffit Vaporizer (representing the manufacturer) has said a couple of times that it is food-grade silicone.

I love it! All the stealth that went into this product looking innocuous and the travel bag says in light gray lettering 'Discreet Vape'! LOL China!

I am beginning to think my brown truck driver is avoiding me.

Yeah:lol: a black sharpie doesn't really fix the problem either. Vorrange posted about these in the DaVinci thread and i bought two so i have an extra. They are about an inch bigger than the one that comes with the Puffit . Hope your brown truck comes soon.

hyperlink a direct link to the video, not a webpage with the video on it, where did you host it?
edit: the link should be the one that ends with the movie name.mpg or whatever extension it is.

Haha I was thinking the same thing! Can you blame any late comers for not wanting to wade through all 15 pages though? What with all the colorblind discussion, convection vs. conduction argument, the vaporgate fiasco and the tommy chong derailing. Not to mention my unwarranted flaming of OF (sorry btw OF!)
I'm glad the early birds at getting these in. Jealousy I know thy name!
I Would still like to hear from the manufacturer again after the distributor debacle...

It looks like you tired to link it as an image. Click the icon next to the Tree it looks like a Film Strip. Link the URL in that. It should work then.

your comment about 30 minutes later and still a plastic taste in my mouth has me worried. Can you explain this more?

Slightly Medicated,
Anyone figure out how the round stirring tool is supposed to work?

Answer: I figured it out and it's quite nifty. You have to press the round stirring tool into the silver cap. Then when it is on the cape you just twist it back and forth to churn the bowl.

By the way this gape is really nice! It hits nice clouds. I am using mine at a 7 and it is very close to the type hits you would get from a MFLB with very fresh batteries. So far it seems very well made and thought out. Everything works as expected. You could very easily walk in public with it in plain view. Someone would have to be really, really studying you to notice or much less challenge you that t wasn't an inhaler. I would feel confident having it in my hand going through a concert security check.

Hey guys,
Glad to see folks are finaly getting their hands on a few units !
Keep the feedback coming so we know how we're doing and what we can do to improve it.

Re: the silicone.
Yep the ring around the top is food grade silicone. this is for two reasons 1: it handles extremely high temps so it won't melt or degrade. 2: its not a good thermal conductor, which means the heat stays in the bowl and isn't transfered to the housing so quickly. So both top and bottom of the chamber have silicone isolators wrapped tightly around them . It also serves as a bit of an air tight seal so the only air flowing through comes in the top as fresh air rather than past all the electronics and such.

Re: Size again
Yes it is a little bit bigger than products the traditional unit (thanks for the comparision photo). But rest assured our minions are working away in our secret underground layer fed on nothing but Top Ramen and Red Bull until they get the disimbigulator working so we can shrink it !

Cheers

Let's do this the old fashioned way, nice packaging, blah blah blah, some accessories, you've seen it already, on to the meat.

I started with some excellent quality materials for my first session, I am so excited, I think I am having an asthma attack.

I started at between 5 and 6, which is supposed to be around 370 degrees, had a nice heat up time of under 30 seconds, and my first hit was barely perceivable. What was perceivable was a very plastic taste, clean is not the word I would use to describe it, but as with other models, this may burn off after time, this is just my first out-of-the-box impressions.

After reading VaporsVaporizers review I decided to bump it up to between 6 and 7, thinking I might get a solid visual hit, and I could taste it, but it sure wasn't thick, and again with the plastic.

Took a few more hits at the maximum setting which is 8, temp setting of 430 degrees, still no visable vapors.

After I wrote the above (sorry for the delay, internet problems, we live kind of out in the sticks) I went back and tried another round, packing it tighter than the first time, and had better luck. I was getting some small clouds, and even coughed on one hit, maybe my grind needs to be finer, I was running on 8 and was having pretty decent luck, walking away quite medicated.

The plastic taste was still there but not as strong as the first time, but still not right in my book, I am used to the super clean hits from the T1, and this taste wasn't doing it for me.

I will continue to give this a try, so far it is decent, although I would have a hard time not buying an Iolite for almost the same money, the Iolite never had a strong plastic taste.

Overall I would give it a 7 out of 10, neat design, I don't think 99.9% of the population would give it a second look, decent vapors, and I am well medicated.

I guess my only complaint is the plastic taste, which is a big deal to me, I really enjoy the taste of pure flower essence, the plastic taste to me is a real turn off.

I hope my review has not been too harsh, mine is only one experience out of many to come, and I may have received the one with extra plastic taste crystals. But I do feel a need to inform our community of what the real deal is, it is only good karma to be truthful.

I'm getting visible hits and don't have a heavy plastic taste. Do i have clouds of smoke, no, but i have visual vapor. I usually don't draw on my Iolite or DaVinci until it cycles twice and i'm doing the same with the Puffit. I prefer the taste i get after doing that. I haven't had it up to 8 yet but have been keeping it at 6/7. I can't compare it to a T1 as far as taste goes, i'm assuming that's glass?. I've never used a glass vape.
This is a very stealth portable, easy to operate, that gets me medicated:D I'd give it an 8

Tried another session this morning, the plastic taste is subsiding and I am getting visable hits. I guess with the temperature choices and the video that was posted I was expecting some nice clouds, and all I am getting is a little fog. It did get me medicated though, I can see a place for this in my useable vape collection, but I don't see it as an everyday driver.

Time changes a lot of things, as I said before, and maybe with a little time I will come to love this vape, I really want to like it a lot, I do love the design, I just hope the plastic taste goes away, that would make me very happy with it.

The silent operation is a huge plus, and the heat up time is excellent, reheat is under 5 seconds from the first cycle and I love that it turns itself off, saving valuable vapors for later.

I will continue to test and review as things change (or don't), have a vapey day.

Hey Guys.
Glad people are enjoying it!

Re: Plasticy taste
Interestingly Dogman, you are the first to complain of this. But I'll look into it. Perhaps something small has changed in the production process. I'll get back to you. Can you tell me if the taste is there when the unit is cold or only when hot?

Re: Pre-orders
Response has been very good, too good! and I can tell you that GV has received many more orders than we have shipped in units so far (we have only completed a pilot run). So that means some folks are gonna be waiting a bit. We should be caught up in a couple weeks when our full production run of 5K units completes. We are just getting the ball rolling but I think it's gonna gather steam pretty fast!
So I thank you for your Patience!

Cheers

Yes, it is there whether it is cold or warm, and it is starting to subside a bit, I am through 3 cycles on the battery and the same number of bowls.

I am beginning to get much better vapor clouds from it as of last night, adjusting my draw strength to maximize airflow versus temperature drop, maybe a slight learning curve involved. I have also been using a finer grind and packing it a bit tighter, and that seems to be helping also.

Thank you for your concern Andrew, customer service means a lot to me, the fact that you are concerned and looking into the issue makes me breathe a little better, I appreciate the post.

Agreed. I'd like to point out that while my concern about LED colors haven't been addressed yet (AFAIK....), the maker has acknowledged the issue in a proper manner. This gives me the confidence to try it out anyway and see if I personally can 'work around' the issue....except for the understanding that no matter who I buy it from here in the US, GV will make a profit. As of now, I'm just not willing to support that with my money. No reward for what they tried to pull from me.

Andrew, I don't normally pry into a guy's business plans, but may I please ask is there any chance of buying one through another channel? I fully understand if you choose to ignore such a question, in fact I kind of expect it. I understand this will not impact your sales numbers, but it's a principle issue you know.....

TIA

i also would buy one through a non-GotVape channel. (them putting .com ads into the vape packages we were selling retail in LHS makes me not want to give them my money)

I kinda forgot that part, although it's got nothing to do with this product itself. I don't frequent LHSs, not foar a while anyway, but I bought a grinder from Amazon that came with their logo engraved on the top...unlike the photo. It does kind of bother me to have their advertising staring at me on my grinder (nobody else does this I know of), I usually put it down upside down......

So I guess all the 'ghost fans' were really par for the course? Still, if say PV could supply them direct from the maker....

Back again for the next round of Puffit reviews. First on the list, plastic taste. It is going away and the taste of the flower is starting to shine through. I have about 3 and a half bowls through it and the taste of plastic has subsided to just a small taste, warm or cold, but I have faith it will dissipate eventually.

I have learned a lot from my last bowl, this thing likes a fine grind and it needs to be packed a lot tighter than I am used to with my other vapes. I am getting some really nice clouds, even better than an Iolite. The inhale is cooler than most with such a short air path, I am really beginning to like this vape a lot, sorry if this seems a bit jumbled, I was excited to post another review after my last session and I think I over did my medication a bit.

This baby also seems to like a faster draw than an Iolite or a T1, maybe because the bowl is better insulated from heat loss, more on that idea later.

Love the heat up time, love the design, love the magnetic cap to cover the mouthpiece, this is going to be a very cool stealthy vape. Personally I don't think anyone would give it a second look in a public place, THAT I will be testing soon.

The battery life is kind of cool too. I use my T1 everyday and need to change the battery every 6 hits at the most. So far the battery is lasting through an entire bowl, which for me I would guess is about 20 good vapor hits. 3 hits off the stuff I vape is usually enough to change my attitude for several hours.

Now the dislike. Hate the stirring tool. The cap design only allows about 110 degrees of back and forth movement, not a full 360 degrees necessary to get a good stir. From my testing, it just moves it back and forth, not really stirring it at all.

That's about all I have for now, I think I will bump my rating up to an 8 on this vaporizer, it's a cool little machine, sans the plastic taste, I still don't think it will be a great every day vape, but for certain social instances, it could be a real lifesaver! And I know it is new, but it's kind of fun to use!

It looked like an after thought. I wondered how it would actually stir the flowers when it had nothing in the cap to really catch on to. I figured it would just move stuff back and forth. I guess you can just leave it out of the unit.

Thanks for sharing. We appreciate any experience from first time adopters.
