Here is the bubinga exterior with a WonG that is made of plain maple.

This is the same vape but different WonG as I recently posted.
Here is a view of the WonG

I'm happy with the esthetics.
So using this wood I save a good bit of time in manufacturing. I get the wood as round piece but the quilted maple I get as a slab. Just getting it round is a bit of a chore. I'll work on pricing this piece.
I vaped with this one and dry it is a bit harsher than all glass. With water of course very nice.

Another thing I want to bring up is Carnuba wax. I have been using Beeswax for all finishing. Just learned more about Carnuba and that it is food grade stuff. Used in finishing Briar pipes. I got some and tried it and it is a little shinier than Beeswax. I like it a lot.
Does anyone have concerns about using Carnuba wax? Seems it is very safe. Let me know

Very nice tapered tube work. Looks very good. It does take some time to get the square pieces round and make a perfect hole through it. Making the female joint can also be challenging. Does make a nice fit. I have been playing around with 18mm female wooden joints lately.
Carnuba wax is derived from plants and used in cosmetics, so it should be as safe as beeswax.

I found the vapor taste to be excellent.... and the temp....
... well the temp all depended on my torching!
I found direct pinpoint flame to be a bit deep in flavor, perhaps a tiny bit sooty.
I found waving a softer flame to be delicious and vaporous... I find the same technique here to be useful, that I use on the VaporGenie.

I have been using mine with an @Ratchett all purpose adapter and a J-hook. Works great, J-hook helps cools the vapor and gives that eye porn when hitting.
Would be nice if one had the option of having the wood adapter in 14 and 18mm.

I have been trying to get pics to up but photobucket is being stupid and won't let me sign in.

Grab an adapter.
http://glassblowersdirect.com/adapters/ is a place I have used for short lightweight adapters.
Figure out what you want exactly, and do a search on Ebay (ex: "14m female to 18m male adapter")
Given that you work with a lot of folk who have manual issues how easy is this to use? You mention the vaporgenie and I never could figure that out. Or the vapman.

I think the Genie is extremely easy compared to this. How did you use your Genie torch or soft flame?

The things I don't like about the essence are its size and difficulty not to combust. Waving the flame around the inlet isn't an enjoyable use method imo but I don't have any issues with direct flame.

@Vitolo check out the NimbinVap thread if you want to see a real soot problem. Never had any soot issues on my end with the Essence.

I found it very easy to use, and have not combusted yet.

I use the waving method with my VGs.
I especially like the Glass Sherlock VG
The vapman doesn't apply in this venue, as it is heated, and then used with no flame.
The Essence flavor is good when I wave the flame gradually at a right angle across the inlet.
I use the same motion and draw method with all triihouse vapes (Daisy, Waldo, etc). and I use the waving method with the Sticky Brick.
I find it easy to use.
The half dozen patients I showed it to liked it, and said that was due to the light weight.
They do best with a torch that "locks" and flame stays on, for the comfort of the digit holding the torch with the button depressed.

That all makes sense, I've done the waving method with the VaporGenies but I'm clearly after higher temps and quicker extraction that you so that method is too slow for me.

I guess I'm just too greedy and want my hit over before its started. Thanks for the post Vito, really makes me think and makes sense for our different styles of use.

I think I'm in between Vito and Paytonpenn, I like deep extraction and quick hits but am satisfied with taking my time, as long as it is not too long. I have combustion problems with pointing the flame into the inlet but my torch isn't easy to adjust so I probably have too much flame. The wave works for me and I can get about 4 to 6 nice hits and find the load is totally extracted.
I recently experimented with a water hook up. Using bits of flexible tubing I rigged the Essence to a Bottle Rocket, a clumsy set up but it did work nicely.
@bellas what is the red flowered plant in the picture? Really nice. My sweetie has an amazing flower garden, I do the veggies alas Delaware has MM but we can't grow our own. At this point I'm happy to pay but hope to cultivate some plants when I move to CA (I don't know when I can pull that off but I would love to)

I was going to ask about using it with water but it sounds like what you did is exactly what I was going to ask about. I'd like to attach a whip to it and attach the other end of the whip to a bubbler. Sounds like that would work.

The vaporgenie was my first vape when I knew no one who vaped and hadn't found FC. I couldn't figure out who to work it at all. Possibly if I had one now I'd be able to figure it out with help here. On the other hand, nothing helped me with the vapman. It got pretty charred and went off to see if Vitolo could find a use for it.

@Fat Freddy I have been thinking of some decorative things for a while now just haven't had time to pursue it. I am concerned with using any glue especially in areas where there is heat, so wood inlays or the stone powder you linked to is limited to the sections of a vape that don't get hot. I would like to try some engraving when I have time.

Good point regarding the powder and glue!
Hadn't considered that aspect.

However, I suppose it would be an easy enough DIY for us to wrap a few of the grooves you've turned with different colored cord and maybe a bead or two 'a la a peace pipe? Don't get me wrong...the Essence is great looking as it is...I guess Dan Morrison has me thinking more about customization on handmade units!
