You can slightly move the wand about, with the clip in place, but not totally freely.
During my original testing, I found that you could lift slightly, and give the clip, a drop of wiggle room, you could get a basic "aiming" done, to avoid a hotspot on the standard wand.
I stir between each hit, however regardless of wand type and setup.. even when using hands free combination.. I stir between hits.
I do not feel comfortable leaving the wand in when I am not involved in an actual "hit".
I use the hands free feature, when in the middle of a hit, only to let go to reach for something while still inhaling! When my inhalation is done, I remove that wand every time.. and stir.
That's just my way.

ricky93: Congrats on getting a SSV. I personally feel that the SSV does not perform up to it's potential using a double chamber piece, or anything a foot or bigger. The SSV did work amazing with a small ~6" single chamber piece with a simple downstem. Make sure that you do try your tube with your SSV though, it's a nice thing to experience and experiment with.

This is my third day with it and i can really say I've figured it out quickly and easily because of this thread. I was able to show my girlfriend and her sister how to use after a couple of minutes now nobody wants to combust Haha we tried my bong by putting the whip directly in the downstem and wow it easily hit me harder than smoking a bowl!

Thanks for the input Vito, I'm glad I was pretty close with what I thought of the handsfree clip.

Ricky, glad you're enjoying the ssv.
If you treat it right, it'll treat you a whole lot better.

I will revive a topic from days gone by, ... not very much like me to dig up the past... BUT-
I have been tearing through the old posts here to know this forums new format better, and to read info gone by....
I found a topic answered, but never visually demonstrated.
The question was, whether the heating element in the SSV/DBV/LSV was as "stand-up" as they claimed.
I guess back when this was being posted, I was afraid to rip open one of my SSVs!
Then I asked 7th Floor for one, but they explained that this was not an ordinary request.
I since have demonstrated my devotion to doing NOTHING in life but research Vaporization, and MMJ... and so I spoke with the guys once again.
"Please.... I really want to do some BRUTAL testing on a heating element. I need it to be unused.. brand new. I promise I will be the only one that tries to DESTROY your element."
This time.... My request fell upon open ears.
The original SSV was left running for 8 years at operating temperatures, before it expired recently.
Let's see if I can put the hurt on this thing.
I begin work on this tomorrow, and will be back to demo to you if this thing can take a beating.

It's sad hearing that the originol SSV finally burnt out. When I got my SSV it was going on year 4 and that was inspiration for me to leave mine on the whole time. I left mine consistantly on for months at a time. I even had a few incidents where guests accidently poured their drink all over my SSV with no negative results. I'm sure I would still be using it to this day if someone hadn't stolen it.

As other people have said, it's conserving because it's a vape, but it also encourages big sessions.I load about .2 into my bowl every session, and it gets me flying very high! However other vapes encourage smaller bowls. But the mini whip is a good option! I don't have one but it's something I may consider getting.

Hello all, Long time surfer, first time poster. I have a question for those of you with experience with 7th Floor's custom glass. I ordered a custom wand and mouthpiece two weeks ago and was hoping for some insight on whether the estimated six to eight weeks is accurate, because i also ordered multiple accessories to save $ on shipping. Cheers and happy vaping!

I ordered a custom mouthpiece and temperature knob last year and they both took a lot longer than expected to come. I had to send multiple checking up emails etc and they always just said "yes it's almost ready."
I think it depends on what custom glass blowers they have on hand at your time of order though so your experience may be better than mine!
Oh and at least the glass did look really nice when it arrived, and still does.

I just talked to Chris on the phone about the order (he called me) so hopefully the blowers will get started on it soon. It's going to be extra for the design I want, but, to me, it's worth the extra cost. I'll post pics as soon as they arrive, but for now I'll just stick to the ol' standard wand.
Cheers

Just got one of these today. My first "real" vape (I have a MFLB that doesn't really get used anymore). And I am VERY impressed.

Congrats on making the switch man! As soon as you find the sweet spot, you will never go a day without riding the wave.

How can I tell when the amount I put in the "bowl" is finished? What I mean is, how can I tell if the weed is finished? I am still learning the ropes.

I usually just keep hitting until it stops giving me vapor.
After 5-6 hits I crush up my herb a bit more in the wand with the back of my pick and get a few more hits out of it.

Yeah, if it's not producing any more vapor after a thorough stirring, then the bowl's done for. The herb should look browned and will turn to powder if you crush it. I keep the ABV (already been vaped) herb in a jar next to my ssv for easy cleanup after a bowl.

...I ordered a custom mouthpiece from 7th floor...it did take awhile, but the quality is excellent...worth the wait, and I love it over the standard mouthpiece, which I really didn't like..

OK, It's unacceptable that the SSV thread is on the 2nd page.
So I bump it with a Video:
Its the 3rd and 4th hit from my SSV through a SSV 6-Arm water filter to my SYN Mini-Beaker

Edit:
Vito, Did you end up stress testing the heater element?
How did it go?

Edit 2:
I just got a e-mail from youtube about the music in my vid
at least Sony is gonna make :2c: out of the vid

Stress test continues... I was unexpectedly interrupted by a series of MMJ community needs that pulled my attention. I am proceeding with the testing later this afternoon~

Update on the custom glass, they sent me a pic and WOW! It's exactly how i described it. I got it to match my rainbow zen on purple base, and i am very pleased with the end results.
