@vapman I think you and I would get along great, as I think we both are able to appreciate the elegance of a simple, purely functional object stripped of anything unnecessary that could impede function. I've examined this device for the past day, and with the exception of the optional mica heat shield, I cannot imagine how I could add or remove one gram of material and end up with a better design. Maybe that's how you know when a design has reached full maturity: when nothing can be added or removed to improve it?

To me, there is one simple metric to gauge whether or not I really like a vaporizer: if I immediately realize I must buy a second one because I cannot bear the thought of being without a functional device for even one day. I'll justify the purchase by selecting the heat shielded version this time to be used for concentrates and keep the basic one for flowers.

I also like how you truly believe in your device. It truly does have long term cult appeal, and I think you are right that it has not yet really blossomed in the market despite being an original early device. Perhaps you were too far ahead of the game in 2006, and we all had to torture our lungs with every method the Chinese have come up with to heat questionable metal coils with questionable battery powered electronics before turning to devices made from safer, more natural or high quality materials. Had you waited until today to release the Vapman, it might be considered much more revolutionary.

Anyway, I need to stop typing and warm up my Vapman, as my job today is to work on developing that evenly charred wood surface. But I would like to offer you this tribute from your co-ambassador to the Free Republic of Cascadia (I need @Enchantre's help in this role, as I only recently gained full citizenship status). Please choose one of these patches for me to send to you. They are very rare, as they are considered contraband by the occupying forces, so do be careful where and how you display this. Some say the Douglas Fir tree represents the resilience, endurance, and defiance of a strong but oppressed people, while others think it looks like something more familiar to all of us.

Edit: my association with the concept of Cascadia is a whimsical way to identify with my new home in the Pacific Northwest, and not any actual political affiliation, because that would be even weirder than I already am.

@ChippyMalone - Maybe there is a Speciffic type of spirit (person) that is attracted to the Vapman? Cause I can kinda see a common thread in the personalities of this Vapman thread.

And that's an awesome pic of the Vapman! There's yor Vapman Porn, @Stu!

Also, I had never heard about the Cascadia Movement. Sounds interesting:

Hmmmm..sorry to hear that. I would suggest this: dont be shy with the heat. I think you may need to push your vapman a little. Dont be scurred the vapman can handle it.

Sorry you're having trouble learning the VM. Some have more trouble than others for sure.

Two pieces of advice:
  • Forget trying to use skills from other vapes, this one is different, treat it as such. Approach it with 'a fresh mind'.
  • Don't be shy with the heat. Most guys get into trouble this way. You need to put all the heat for the upcoming hit into the copper before you start the hit. It's possible to put too much in, but that's not easy to do. You should explore what 'too hot' is like so you can avoid it later. Using a good torch type lighter, heat it for five seconds or so and try it out. If it's not producing enough vapor, don't fight with it, heat it another five seconds quick, before it cools off. If that doesn't do it, hit it again.

i use a skinny flame aimed directly at the cone..heat for 8-4-4 then pull and then heat as needed till bowl is gone..thats my ritual...everyone has their own and the amazing thing is the vapman can adapt to each persons style. I do not call the vapman a portable vape. to me it is a personal vape. i can make my vapman give me thick clouds or i can go low temp and get nothing but floral taste. it adapts to my every need.

Damn so the 8-4-4 is your ritual then what am I to do? J/k im gonna give it a shot that way..as someone earlier posted that I should heat twice then a quick puff and then heat and boom..so im sure ill get my own way down. I have this crazy fear that if I combust I cant say ice been combustion free for so and so days or months..its like damn start over again:-)

I doubt you will come close to combusting...like @Seasoned Senior said...you will see vapor coming out of the little holes. once you see that you know its time to pull..when i see vapor coming out of the holes i take a long pull, for 2 reasons..to cool the vapman down a little and to get a big thick milky hit..usually after that i lay the vapman down for a second...mainly cause i have fallen to the floor..but after that i start over. and that video @steama has posted is a good tutorial...stick with us we will get you there!!!

Have you read the book?

I read it after moving here... I could join the Cascadia movement...

I've been having excellent results with shatter between screens...

@Enchantre, I will have to check out that book. :)

@subway13029, don't worry so much about combusting. It hapens to the best of us every now and then -- there's no escaping it.

If it does happen, DON'T DRAW! -- Remove the mouthpiece immediately.

It won't get dammaged in any way, but if you do draw after you notice the burnt smell, it'll get into the wooden mouthpiece and linger for a while... Yuck! You will smell it before you draw, so pay attention.

If you don't draw after combustion, just clean the bowl right away so stuff doesn't stick to it.

This video below shows the use of e-Juice in the Vapman. The heating time will be longer than with herb, but you can see the rythm.

Notice how the heating time gets shorter while producing the same amount of vapor.

Notice the vapor coming out the side when it's ready, but you may not see this every time with herb. Don't expect that size clouds though.

@M0J0 If you use a vapman for e-liquid does the smell/taste linger? How is it if you use it with herbs and e-liquid or use it with herbs, concentrates, and e-liquid? Or would it be best to have a seperate mouthpiece or a whole separate vapman for e-liquids? I'm thinking maybe that video was to demonstrate that it's possible to have a torch powered e-cigarrete for those of us who would be interested in a dedicated vapman unit for that purpose, and that it would probably be best not to do all (herbs, concentrates, and e-liquids) if you are primarily using the vapman for herbs and/or concentrates. What do you think?

I'm not even a tobacco smoker or an e-cigarette person, but that looked like fun. Would be fun to try it, but not if it will stick around for a long time when in use for herbs.

@bounce5, I made that video to show how to use e-Liquids in the Vapman - as a demo, because I think that some people who like to quit smoking would enjoy the ritual of the Vapman better than sucking on an e-Cig.

They could use e-Juice of different nicotine strengths to wean themselves off of nicotine completely and then continue to vape 0 nicotine e-Liquids afterwards if they'd like to continue the ritual without the harmful side effects.

I used 0 nicotine e-Liquid in the video and I enjoyed the ritual, taste and smell. -- The Vapman feels kinda like a tobacco pipe to me - which I used to smoke in the past, but I'm not sure if many people would like it as much as I do.

I found it fun to just make some o-rings etc. No pressure not to combust etc.

You can actually vape straight Vegetable Glycerine which they say is very nice and sweet and gives off plumes of vapor. I ordered a 4oz bottle from eBay for $4 + free shipping to test this out.

The smell lingers until you vape something else. It's not that strong - at least with the tobacco flavored e-Juice I used.

I've never vaped any waxes or the like but E-Liquids evaporate completely from the screens if you keep going until you see no more vapor. I can't see any sticky residue as what @NorVape reports.

Some people are more particular about their Vapman's Tastes and smells and since I'm not that picky, I may not be the best judge in this matter.

I have vaped eucalyptus leaves in the past and I got the same results regarding lingering smells.

I think people should use their Vapman with other herbs like eucalyptus every now and then to clean their lungs etc, but I'm not a doctor, so this is not intended as any medical advice whatsoever... Consult your doctor, yada, yada , yada ...

Oh! And there were some guys on another FC thread that said that they were putting a bit of Vegetable Glycerine on their herb and it gave off a ton of vapor plus they swear it enhanced the effects a lot.

They also talk about making a glycerin tincture with AVB...

@ChippyMalone At first I thought you were joking when you came up with the name Cascadia, assuming you are making it up and I just thought what a beautiful phantasy name for a country. It was yesterday after seeing the two patches that I realized that there must be more to it and I went on wikipedia to learn about it. This thread is great, it gets me around the world just by sitting here in the workshop.
It is very generous of you, offering me one of the patches and I love the fact that there is a tree on it,
it couldn`t be more suitable to me!:nod:I pick the top one with the name Cascadia, it will take a special place in my collection of memories connected to vapman. When people will ask me about, I will respond with a smart look in my face "don`t you know about Cascadia?":lol:BTW, the picture of the oiled vapman is very nice, I like that strong contrast between the green of the tree and the brown color of vapman.

I agree with @Mojo that vapman attracts people with a certain spirit, we are selling vapman on all continents and we get emails from all over the world and in most cases there is that certain spirit recognizable. It is one world, one love and one vapman.:D

Brothers and sisters, I wish you all a good vapman-day!

I tried with cannabis e-juice. I made the batch to weak... Or so I thought. It was weak in the ecigg, not the vapman. Any theories to why this is, Vapman Nation?
I would say the difference in each devices heating potential made the difference. So i would say with the vapman you were able to hit a vaporiztion point that you could not reach in the pen.

On a side note...i decided to be adventurous and place a larger size chunk of wax on my screens and see how the vapman will handle it...i am thinking i will just have to increase my flame cycle to compensate so i want come up with an oily mess. i will snap a pic of the size load i am putting on my three screens.
@vapman what size loads did you think about when you were planning the screens. This is the biggest one that i have used and the vapman handled it nicely...no residue left completely spent.
