The decarb kit replaces the glass core (or teflon)? Trying to figure out if I should get one with the mini I've ordered.

The decarb kit works only with the Teflon core! Doesn't need it in glass core as glass has better heat retention...

ok, let's sum it up here.

The teflon core is the older design that provides excellent convection vaping. The decarb kit was made to insert into the teflon core unit to add more conduction (if you pack the bowl directly) for those that want these effects. I always use the baskets because I am a convection whore, so I can't tell you from usage how well the decarb kit works.

the glass core is the newer design that still provides convection vaping, but the glass core retains heat more than the teflon so it acts like a teflon unit with the decarb kit. The glass core is slightly larger in diameter, so a decarb kit would fit loosely inside since it wasn't made for it.

The move to glass was for what the market wanted, as well as an attempt to improve taste. imo, it doesn't. It takes a solid unit and adds an element of fragility to it. but what I noticed was it got to the spent taste quicker. I think it has to do with the thermal characteristics of glass creating a chamber that is too hot, but I don't know. They are testing it now to find out.

These changes come on the heels of faulty units being on shelves due to a manufacturer fuck up. So, at the moment, they are dealing with evaluating design changes that have been partially released as well as recalling units for rebuilds. So they have a lot to sort out right now.

from what I understand, the distributors aren't selling units while the recall is in process. So the best place to get one is directly from Hermes. During the ordering process I suggest specifying what kind of unit you want, as I think they can provide either right now, but don't quote me on that. And remember that my comments about taste are just my personal opinions on something that is purely objective. Ask for whichever type of core appeals to you!

True maybe you should take a little more time reading through but I think a few of you are stuck up your own ass's! Mmafighterthe25 is only asking, and surely that's what forums are for? Don't forget it's a lot of money people pay for these devices and I don't see nothing wrong with asking questions about the minivap on the minivap forum! Don't want to offend anyone here, just giving my pounds worth, no point being all snobby about it, just give people the advice they are asking for, they /we just want to make the right decision! I surely haven't made the right choice but hey I will get another mv as soon as they've sorted their problems....

Forums are mainly for gleaning information from within. Yes it's great to ask questions but when they are asked over and over by different people and then the same person over and over it turns into not asking but simply being too lazy to go back and look at the information.

I had a really bad day a few weeks ago and was agitated, so when someone stated something I didn't like on the mighty thread, I didn't hold back and let out all of my frustration. L.b. vaping, we are all a family here (we all get into arguments and disagreements even with family: maybe even more so). I think the frustration comes when the same questions are asked over and over, and when the member did not put in the effort to read what other posters have stated. I know we all can be lazy and want the answer right away, but doing a little reading will help people familiarize themselves with the product.

Second, it's disrespectful if someone put in the effort to share their experience and someone overlooks it. Disrespectful is too strong of a word, but can't think of another.

Thank you! This pretty much clears everything up. I'm going to try to cancel the decarb kit I ordered.

Vapornation have it available for order. Are you suggesting that if I order from them they might take my money and not ship the unit for a good while?

Once again if you looked for the answer to your question instead of asking over and over ... no most prefer the flexicone

I can't speak to anything VaporNation does. By now they may have good units in stock for all I know. But I would definitely suggest asking them about their stock and shipping dates before ordering. Soon enough all this will be sorted out and we won't have to worry about it anymore.

I have been using the minivap and haze exclusively(with a few mighty sessions) but this thing is extracting my kief bowl in 3 draws at green. The herbie whip makes it feel like im getting a moistured hit, so I take monster draws and Im covered in vapor. Its too efficient.

Do i need to fill the actual chamber because the bowl is too small?

We currently only have the original model. At this time we don't have an exact ETA for the new units.

Fingers crossed it stays that way. Mine didn't last too long and @Vape Dr. 's is starting to go now too. Also from the silver and white batch. If all the new ones they are shipping are silver and black then I think we are into a new batch. Mine is kicking ass!

ah is that true @Vape Dr. ? geez...well I'll let the thread know if mine stops working.

haha, all this drama makes me paranoid, every time i don't get a perfect cloud i'm like "hey! is this thing still working or what????"

but so far, yes it seems to be just fine :)

This is not what I wanted to hear at all. The previous guesstimate was end January or first week February....now unknown ETA. Call to Vapornation on Monday is due to get this sorted out. My replacement ticket was initiated with them just after Christmas. Way too much time has passed to just let this continue without some resolution happening sooner rather than later.

I got the silver (with the black trim) in December and it is working like a champ. It's the Teflon version. But I am not putting it through a lot of stress (testing other vaporizers), so hopefully it doesn't lose its power

I bought it straight from Hermes on thanksgiving weekemd

My replacement silver MV from VaporNation arrived at the end of December 2014.
Never skipped a beat and just keeps pumping out vapour!
Blue is pretty useless for most of my strains though...
Pink upwards is where all the action starts to happen!
Pink finishes a basket off with light brown ABV
Green gives me a nice rich brown ABV
Red gives me some seriously dark ABV and usually a WT is required if i start on Red.
If i start on Pink and work my way up to Red, no WT is required!!

Still rocking the Vapolution straw as my direct draw!
A bit of Herbie tubing slipped over the end prevents any teeth clanking noises and keeps the end cooler!
Direct fit through the cap and the nipple of the Flexicone fits perfectly!

PS- I had to get on VN's case and call Kyle a lot to get it moving!
Sometimes i felt like i was lost in all their confusion...
No response for days and then call and ask and i received a tracking number almost instantly...
Could have been the Christmas rush...

Hi lazylathe,

Do you have a link for the vapolution straw? The herbie whip completely changed my view on the minivap and now can confidently say that the minivap is my favorite vaporizer!!! With the whip like flexicone, the vapor is too hot for me. The mouthpiece is even worse. But the long herbie whip cools it down sigificantly and the taste is amazing.

Yeah the Herbie whip is really good at cooling down the vapour!
Luckily mine fits in the cap perfectly!

As for the glass straw, here is a link:
http://www.vapolution.com/collections/all/products/medium-straight-bowl

BUT i would not recommend it for you if you do not like hot vapour!
My wife can handle the glass straw but only on Pink and for a few draws, which is enough for her with the MV!
I am used to hot vapour and find changing the direction the straw points in my mouth helps a lot and i do not get dry spots!
