Discontinued The Sublimator

lol, she addressed this weedemon. she said soot is a problem that would need to be fixed.
maybe by a thin piece metal or a ceramic plate, like a potpurri pot, something that transfers heat well

if you mean the stuff under where your new ultrafine screen is, then yes, that's why i started using it ;)
same thing with the handle separating easier, but i think that is separate issue, am more on it about keeping that tight (use gloves when needed!)

yes id the handle gets loose then you can get hurt more easily! burn #2 I got is proof of that! that one has nearly healed, but my first branding god damn! lol... still really red and that was what? like a month ago?? haha it's healing nicely, but still jsut totally obvious. glad it's not on my head lol!

I totally use my oven mitts when taking it a part. you can't do it when the thing is cold! haha. It's like it's cemented together with resin! I smoke that chunky shit in my pipe. dirty shit for when I am in a total rush, gotta toke and run! so it saves up for a once a month type thing! :p

I completely agree with you grokit; I've had the Sublimator almost a month and I have yet to clean it except the one time that I poked my glass stirrer from the Extreme Q through on account of having not remembered to put the screen back into the Atomizer prior to packing a bowl.

I figure if I can see a clean air-path through the Atomizer, why bother with a clean?

When I ordered the Sublimator, I decided to get a variety pack of the screens that PV was offering on account of the couple of reviews I'd read regarding the stubbornness of the stock screen and getting it to fit right.

There is something about the stock screens that I love so much more than any of the variations PV has for the Sub - and this is someone who was using solely PV screens in his Solo prior to the change.

Perhaps the reason you guys are feeling the need to clean your piece more often is on account of using the PV screens instead of the stock one?

If any of you feel the opposite holds true, I'd love you to send me your stock screens. ;-)

Tradesies? Haha.
Only thing I clean on the sublimator is the plastic part on the atomizer and the glass which the plastic touches. Pretty hard to get out with all the reclaim stuck to the piece. My bubbler srsly getting way too sticky lol

Hit the sublimator than talk it down thats all i'm saying. Just think its a fancy vaporizer? That just reassures the masses that you have never used a sublimator; I own a sublimator and it is beyond vaporization it really is. Keep on subbing and here is our best impersonation of Enrico.

Was this a response to something? It feels to me like it is but I don't see any posts in here that tried to talk down the sublimator. But since you asked, I have used a sublimator and I think it is just a vaporizer.

I should qualify, I think it is a really damn good vaporizer - but to pretend it is something that it is not is misleading.

It's a really damn good vaporizer that does three things that others do not:
  • thermal mass equilibrium enabling instant full-spectrum vapor extraction
  • vortex generation enabling concentration of the vapor ingredients for
  • atomization of the vapor enabling better biological absorption
That's why it's a really damn good vaporizer

Do you just let the grill rest on the top ridge and shake it out every time, or do you push it down further until it sticks?

The former.

I just drop it in and use the aforementioned stirrer to have it sit delicately on the ridge without any air spaces at any point in the event just dropping it in has it land awkwardly.

i havent had much time to look into this guy but i think im missing something... i just watched the video of enrico on the first page and when he dumps the herb it still appears as if there is more left in it. isnt the idea that it vapes ALL of the trichs at once?

what am i missing?

Well, I don't know if we can take a promotional video as being a true representation of what happens in a normal session. Perhaps he was vaping it on a lower temperature or something.

When I tried Pakalolo's Sub, it certainly did flash vape the load into one massive hit and left behind very well evenly browned bud. I was surprised since the color of the ABV was about the same as it was coming out of my cloud, but the hit was tangibly bigger. We used precisely weighted amounts, as well. It won't blacken the herb unless you do something to obstruct the flow or run it at red-eye levels.

So I'd say your not missing anything - the video just didn't show a fully vaped load for whatever reason.

Modnote: This post and subsequent replies were moved out of the Sublimator contest thread.

As far as the build up issue resulting in the handle becoming loose - my handle was loose when I first received the Sub - I made sure I tightened it once it was cold in the first 24 hours or so, and ever since I've had no problems of it coming loose again?

I just held the Atomizer and 'righty-tightied' that thing until I felt it couldn't be tightened any further.

Considering physics, I'm surprised that you're able to generate a build up once the two pieces have been screwed together to the max - perhaps you didn't tighten them enough to begin with?

Yes that's exactly what I do as well, but I am finding that I don't need to re-position the grill as often as I did at first.

2clicker, the only time that happens for me is when I use the unit before it is completely up to the desired temperature. I use the wet finger technique myself, but it's hardly exact. So I am agreed with Centizen.

Hassan, my apollo handle arrived tight and still is, but the atomizer handle is loose and I like it that way so I can easily swivel it for balance. I did go with a smaller rock though :brow:

i think what's happening is during use; it becomes a tiny bit unscrewed when i try to twist/loosen it out of my bong. (the white part fits really well in there) I don't re tighten it everytime this happens as it's probably happening once every 5 or 10 hits maybe? then each time the tiny void space just fills in with the harder more solid sublimate.

then over time. say a week or so. I notice the atomizer is solidly connected, yet the handle will spin.

My atomizer is the same. The handle spins, but it is hard to tighten, as it is probably sealed with sublimate. I would have to boil/iso it to loosen it up.

The Apollo handle is fastened in place - I'd be extremely worried and upset if I found that started to swivel! Haha.

I prefer the Atomizer's handle being just as rigid when I'm clearing a bowl - I do recall the first day or so when it was slightly loose that I felt I was playing a bit of a tug of war with it from time to time when trying to clear the chamber.

All of these things will be moot points once the reclaim buddy is available. ;-)

let it get hot, then with 2 oven mitts (mine are silicone) you can unscrew it much more easily. then scrape that gunk outta there!

Ah - that makes sense.

I honestly feel that using an 18mm to 14mm reducer makes the Sublimator experience a whole lot easier - so long as you're okay with the reducer assuming the role of the teflon going forward.

yes sir that's A ok with me :)

is there such thing as an 18 to 18mm? thats what I would need to procure.

Yeas that's the flaw about going back in forth from the 14mm launchtube to the 18mm bong, separating the teflon from the glass reducer bushing takes a bit of planning.

Here is a tip from me to Sublimation nation in regards to "loose atomizer",

If you have the original or enail version, place your heating element into your atomizer, and while holding the atomizer handle, spin the heating element to the left while inserted into atomizer. Lift the heating element off and repeat until tighten. I'm going to post a picture from bird eye view and off the sublimator diagram. (Will look like shit because I suck @ drawing.)

Edit: better picture
INF9eOJ.jpg

MUST BE SECURED ONTO A FITTING HOLE. (Eg. Bong joint, sublimator, bubbler, whatever the atomizer fits.)

Reason why is because the plastic part has a seal to the sublimator or glass piece, while the handle and top part is free moving, the seal between the sublimator and the top part of atomizer makes a really good seal itself which the heating element can promote the movement between the pieces of atomizer.

And the reason why people is experiencing this is because the heating element is unscrewing it slowly if moved counter clockwise.

Takes like a second to tighten again

Hope this helps everyone!

I look at the problems the community sees in the sublimator and I try to show them how to fix with ease. Even though I did not create the product, I can offer some unofficial support and opinions that may help out a lot of people since I try to utilize it the best I can

This is wrong, the atomizer on the Sublimator does NOT refine the vapor particles into smaller particles. I don't feel like posting a long explanation AGAIN that no person without a PHD will understand. But the only thing the 2mm hole in the atomizer can be doing is slowing down airflow enough to concentrate the heat on the herbal matierial longer, at which could be responsible for the aparrently thick vapor fromt he sublimator.

To see vapor particles you would need an electron microscope, the average water vapor particle is 2-5 microns. There are 1000 microns to a mm, so if the atomizer hole is 2mm then explain to me how the sublimator reduces the size of the vapor droplets?

The manufacturer (and my lungs) seem to agree, and that's good enough for me!

But thanks for sharing your opinion Timothy :)
