That's what I'm fuckin' talking about. You can still use it with the stem in though right? If I understand correctly, the stem clicks out and in right?

Looks sweet. How hot does it get with 2-3 loads in a row?

(stop laughing, pervs...)

Regarding the materials, the bowl is a glass lined ceramic and yes the straw is retractable..no clicking though..wrong company. The straw is hugged by a tight silicone sleeve that also provides additional insulation for breakage. The little screen that you see on the bottom of the unit...we call it a grill (think cars), is where the airflow comes in from the bottom. Its made of 304 stainless.

In the center of the vape there is also a glass screen that will prevent most particulates from going though the air path, of course some people will opt to add another screen. Depends on preference.

Now regarding discreetness...if you push the straw completely into the body, it's very discreet. Well, if you walk down the street sucking on an electric shaver type of discreet.

Also, I don't know what I was thinking when I posted about conduction..I need to edit that post. We really try to focus on building convection vapes. A quick heat up time is great for some materials, but really lends to combustion not to mention an uneven roasting experience. So all in all, the Ascent is a convection vaporizer.

We could have sped up the heat up time, but weren't happy with the overall experience when we did.

(Before anyone brings it up...yes there is some conduction, but the conduction vs convection debate deserves its own thread )

Good info, but what's the warm up time?

This thing looks dope, count me in.

Soo looks more about the size of an old T Moblie Sidekick if anyone remembers those.

Did I hear this holds 2 18650s? Gnar, that couldn't be right though? Right?

Looking very nice! Any update on the bowl size? DV said they'd double check if it really is 1.3g

This is like Aston Martin among vaporizers, with that grill and curved shape. At first glance it seems so well built and reliable. In my head I had a image of something thiner but I am not dissapointed by any means.Hot looking slick device.

Is all contact with SS before any heating? How easy is it to clean the internal glass screen?

The hole pattern in the grill doesn't appeal to me, but that's just my taste speaking. Is there a reason for that pattern choice?

Can you tell us if the glass stem might get stuck in or hard to push in once it is use a lot?

Price point...when will you be ready to tell us?

My friends call me "Menz"
i am still VERY VERY interested in this one. Davinci_Vaporizer...... can you please go into some more detail on how oils are used in this?? I am mostly interested in the herb capabilities as that is what i have access to, but every once in awhile i get access to some oil or i have been making it myself. i would like to know how it's used in this device for that special time when i do get some oil

I like the hole pattern in the grill, it seems very logical. I'm sure a local shop can make a custom one for you, pakalolo. Maybe Davinci can let us design custom grills too :brow:, within certan limitations of course.

You have created a very nice looking gadget, if it preforms I'll bite.

Edit:
About the price
PAX $299
Cera $295 (with batt+charger)
Inh004 $250
(miVape $299)
The Ascent has a display and a alu body with print, im guessing at least $300.

Really interesting design! I'm guessing the heater must be in that bottom swivel part?

If air comes in the grill, it's already right next to the bowl, and the glass screen is right after:

I don't think the design of the grill would swing me one way or the other, I assume it's holes because they're easy to drill, but if you do want to get creative I agree a straight-line aston grill would fit very well with the rest of it:

The grill design wouldn't put me off getting one, I just think it would look prettier with something else. The Aston grill would definitely appeal to me more than the holes, however it's quite possible the hole design is driven by function. That's why I asked.

I really like the aesthetics of the ascent. I can't wait to see oil carts and the vapor production!

Will the ascent come with the oil carts, or will they have to be purchased?

I would love to oblige. If I ever am able to I will certainly set up a cam to video it cause if I have that kind of money I can hire a camera man to sit in the car to take the vid or even behind in a car lol.

This vape sounds really hot. I can't wait to hear more. I only use flowers for now and had high hopes for another vape that just came out but the jury is still out on the flower aspect. I am sad but the ascent is giving me new hope especially since it seems to be able to be totally cleaned which makes it one of only two vapes that can be, ok three if you are counting the old model of the other one.

thats a nice design conduction right?
sweet
glass oil cart insertable?
The DV is primarily convection and there's no reason to think this design is any different. Going more in the direction of conduction would be counter productive to good performance.

Also, is that a metal screen on the underside of the unit when open?
Nothing wrong with a ss screen, and trying to avoid one is difficult and usually doesn't work well.

I think he said that the glass mouth piece is manually retractable
Well you'd certainly want to be able to pull it out for safer transport and cleaing.
