I It's all the other dangerous adulterants of smoke that get a person blitzed, NOT the THC. This is precisely why sitting around smoking poison is so silly to me now. It's not even the illicit substance in your pipe that is necessarily getting you "stoned". How's that for irony.

I agree. And there's a HUGE psychological effect as well. You get what you expect to a large extent.

Ever try getting your buds stoned on tea? I mean like Orange Pekoe, out of the bag of course. Under the right conditions it works......

Guys are conditioned to 'huge clouds = very stoned'. And it does work for them, so who's to say, really?

the grip tape tip worked amazing, bought a skateboard grip tape sheet and had some 3m adhesion promoters, I highly recommend using these promoters, they make sure anything you stick down is down for the count. I put a square pad of grip tape with a swab of promoter on the back and laid it on the switch, works great it molded to the grooves and I can really use this device unhampered by oily fingers.

edit: just put a small piece on the ultralite and wow night and day difference!

Yes, it happens. The most likely problem is the switch, I assume neither coil is lit so it's not a blow coil (which would still light on one side)?

Pull the switch out. Take the core off the top of the battery tube and pull the center contact (with the spring under it) straight down. The contact, spring and black plastic body will come out, held in by an o-ring that will probably stick in the hole. Pry it out as well with a toothpick or something. Make sure it's all clean then put the ring back first. Press it all the way to the bottom evenly. I use the fat end of the switch (backwards) to do this. Then push the switch all the way down small end first until it contacts. The o-ring is a bit of a spring, and if it's not seated right it can push the switch up a bit. It should be fine.

The other thing to check is to be sure the bowl part itself is still screwed in well, it contacts that same switch from above. Look around the rim under the bowl just above the threads for the cap. The flat lip under the rim of the bowl should just come even with the threads, if it sticks up, that's a problem.

OF,
Great discussion OF and PP. I couldn't agree more with your posts. I used to be one of those users who believed the high comes from the thickness of clouds but now i know, it comes from the quality of the vapor. I actually remember that when OF first came onto this forum, i had an argument with him about vapor clouds. Its funny how things change.

Also, i wanted to share, If you guys want to try another substitute for thumb grip, I discovered that Covidien wraps work. I took a strip from my brothers nursing kit, and it works pretty well.

Question.. Am I suppose to see a glowing light or something in the Bowl when my T1 is on??? I never saw any glow even yesterday when my T1 seemed to work... Do I have to be in the dark or something to see it?

you should be able to see it glow in the day light... something isn't making contact somewhere, it seems. Does it even get warm?

You'll only see it if you have the cap off and turn the power on. When the unit is loaded with the cap on you won't see the glow.

Correct.. I was seeing no light with the top off, bowl empty and power on...

Uggggg.....

Kuroth1,
got any pics?

Sure thing, Its nothing too fancy, just a strip of medical tape. Im sure i can make it look nicer if i had the time. Anyways, it works great. I've only used it on two bowls with 20 minutes in between. So i am not sure if it will come off or not with heat.

I don't have any issues with the power button personally. I know that jambandphan03 has dexterity issues for medical reasons - do the others using the grip have dexterity issues?

OF.. Is this hard to do??? I am a little chicken shit in taking my unit apart(More then just the bowl and Battery area)... I really dont even know where to start and dont want to strat twisting and turning stuff when I dont know what I am doing..

I am beginning to think even last night during my very first use when I thought my T1 was working even though I never saw the glow in the bowl, it was maybe only barely working???? If so, cant want to get this fixed and try it when its fully working..

It's real easy in fact there's a video on how to strip it completely down drifting around somewhere, anybody got the link handy?

In general, switches work or they don't. There's no 'partially working' about them as marginal contact causes lots of heat locally which rapidly either fixes it or blows it up. Let's see if someone posts the link for TV's video. We were (collectively) looking at it a few days back, IIRC the 5 minute mark is about where the switch is?

Got the link here OF.

One minute flat? One minute? How cool is this place and the guys that haunt it? PB, full points, you da man!!!

Thanks.

Edit: We should remind our new friend, this is the original model, the Delrin sleeves no longer slip off easily (you have to boil them) and the heat core body is now only one piece but functions the same. OF

Something quick to try without taking anything apart. Un-screw the battery compartment a couple turns. Side the slider up hard to make contact and while holding it tight, tighten the battery compartment back. Should feel the slider fighting you while screwing back on.
If switch is slightly mis-aligned this sometimes gets it going.
Otherwise, as OF said. Pull the switch and reseat it O ring first. And ensure O ring is all the way down the hole and sitting flat. And make sure the bowl is screwed in tight into the outer shell.
