@Moody If you do not block the air inlet, air will be drawn straight into the heater and will not travel over electronics, battery etc. Air will take the easiest route, directly from the air holes on the side of the unit. Air will only be drawn in from the bottom of the unit through the USB-c socket (and other cracks) if the main air inlet is blocked, so semi isolated? I have asked for the FAQ you linked to be reviewed and made clearer.

This may have been a problem with the old oven retaining system that used o-rings but the Roffu now uses a stainless steel spring retainer for that purpose.
The other possible smell I believe that a few people are sensitive to is the Kanthal heater used in the Roffu (the reason Vapbong swapped from Kanthal to stainless steel...but some peeps don't like S/S:hmm:) and can smell/taste it when the heater is on without herb.
I look forward to your thoughts on this @Moody

Great advice as I did the same with my first Boundless Tera...never again, iso and/or bi-carb and the sun/oven for me.:myday:
Thanks to everyone that mentioned not using dawn. Will avoid.

I understand what you mean by air taking the easier path, but allowing the air to get in from every crack is still a bad design IMO. Anyhow, the air is still not isolated as they state in their FAQ. This level of deceiving customers is enough of a red flag for me to not buy again from this brand.

It is a lovely vape though, and its a shame they didn't put more effort into it. Perhaps a newer version will be better.
I will get a silicone sleeve, perhaps that will diminish the air coming in from the cracks.
For now, I improvised buy putting the bottom 3rd part of the vape in a tight ziplock bag and tied it with a rubber band. So the air can only travel through air inlet holes.

As for the silicone smell, I for rid of mine by following the advice on page 10 of this topic. Took the mouthpiece apart, washed it with dish soap, rinsed it in water, and then let dry in the sun for a couple of days. Did this twice, then did a quick ISO rinse. The silicone smell is 99% gone!

This long post goes somewhere, I promise...there was a concern with arizer and the solo and an isolated air path. Same w mighty from what I've read. I think at first none of the vapes bothered. You can still see how the info was resolved and explained on 420edc. Here is a link to the arizer info https://www.420edc.com/blog/arizer-solo2-airpath-isolation/

After a lot of digging/reading, it almost seems like through the concern of the consumer the manufacturers started isolating the path, not because of health concerns.

Doesn't the plastic used for the wires need to be heat resistant to a certain degree so they don't melt or deform? Or gas off a horrible smell if it isn't food safe plastic? It needs to remain functional, right? Same with the plastic on the battery. I would assume the one item that really could do some harm is the lead solder. But again I'm guessing not likely because if it were hot enough to liquify the solder for the fumes to form, your unit wouldn't work anyways. And let's say there is some lead breaking down even if it isn't lquified, is it enough in that small of a dose to do anything? Not likely at all from what I've read. if you don't believe me, it is easy to research lead solder fumes and toxicity.

From what I've researched, I'm leaning towards the conclusion that it was primarily consumer concern that caused the manufacturers to start using it as a marketing tool. Am I correct? Is this fact? I don't know for sure obviously and I'm not pretending that I have all the answers. but I formed an answer for myself as best I could. This is only my 2 cents.

In terms of marketing, as an example, take a look at nectar..their website is called nectarmedicalvapes. "Medical vapes"- besides their isolated air path, what constitutes it a medical device? I'm inclined to say it's just marketing. Looking for an angle to sell a product. If I offended anyone by using this example, I'm sorry, I couldn't find anything other than the isolated path info and how it is important, but they do not explain w facts why it is important, just generalized statements. If there is more, please feel free to correct me. I bet their next iteration of the Roffu will truly be isolated....it kinda is now, unless you block the intake. So if you use the device as intended, what percent of air is probably all fresh and not from inside the device? Probably almost all of it I would guess. Personally, I'm not concerned at all after my research. I'm more concerned about the herb and what it may do to my lungs long term through vaping than I am at the amount of exposure I "may" get w the device electronics.

I don't have stock in any of these companies, I don't work for any one of them etc, I just try to look at all angles before forming a solid opinion. And it's still just an opinion.

I'm so damn curious now about the Roffu and smell/no smell I absolutely can't wait to dive into this thing.

To be honest, vaping is a new method of consumption, so long-term health concerns are not researched much. Even vaping PG liquid in e-cigs can be a huge concern. Some research points to heating PG over a certain temperature and inhaling it is potentially more harmful than smoking cigs..

Anyhow, an isolated airpath is kinda common sense to me. Like a seatbelt in a car.

Thank you for the info, I will look into it.
You can check this video about 2 scientists exploring the potential cause of vaping pneumonia:
They point at "inhale activated" vapes where air travels through the battery compartment.

Thanks for that and I don't disagree there should be regulations and some sort of oversight, but 18650 batteries are not inhale activated which is what they discuss in the vid. Aren't those typically for tobacco? Not sure. PG (propylene glycol) isn't present in dry herb vapes nor is any oil. The people that died or were sick were using oil with e vitamins etc.

The Roffu does have a pathway for the air. I received mine last night and noticed it is very difficult to take a worthwhile draw while blocking the air intake. It simply is too difficult to want to draw that way while blocking it. which means to me that not much, if any, air is pulled from inside the unit. After a few minutes w the device you will know very quickly whether you are blocking it or not. So a lot of the concerns in the video don't really apply in this case or dry herb vaping in general. Regardless, regulation is not a bad thing. Everything depends on how it is implemented, right? "Devil is in the details"

I received my Roffu last night and did some cleaning etc and had a test drive. Will post impressions after some time with it.

Hi everyone.
Just got a Roffu litekit, wasn't easy, as i'm in Greece.
Coming from a Davinci IQ which i have for years, i'm not a heavy user at all but have tested some vapes.
I had hopes that the airflow would be more 'easy' on the Roffu, but i find it similar to the IQ somehow, while for example i have tested a Mighty or the old, first Davinci and the airflow is much more easy, 'airy'.
Any tips/tricks to improve this on the Roffu?
Thanks in advance and sorry if it has been covered.

Regards.

Use a very loose pack, lightly tamped (if at all).
And, of course, don't block the air inlets.
I think the standard mp is a little restrictive; I use wpa/glass mp and get a little more open draw that way.

@vapviking tips will help but the Roffu does have a bit of restriction compared to the Mighty etc.

I will try & find a compatible WPA in EU then,
saw a video here when placed directly on top of the oven?

What about removing the zirconia path or removing the silicon thing? or not recommended

Other than that, smooth/light taste, speedy heating time, nice look, nice battery life.

I just bought a Roffu also and received it last week. I've only used it with the WPA, with zirconia and mouthpiece removed. I'm using the metal chamber, with no filter, and a capsule in that chamber. I find that there isnt much restriction. I have a mighty also, and I'd say they are very similar like this. I honestly don't know which one is more restricted airflow, but it isn't an issue w either. I've tried on demand and session, both work well like this.

I have not tried the standard set up w the mouthpiece and zirconia etc. I will, and once I do I'll post a full review. I don't find the vapor too hot at all or the WPA glass getting too hot either. Overall, it worked really well for me. Just be sure to take slower hits. Seems to work really well that way.

Slower puffs will help build conduction with the S/S oven. I find the longer/harder puffs yield more vapor as the Roffu has more convection than conduction heating and responds well to the user moving more hot air through the load to vaporize it.

Hey guys, I've used the Roffu a number of times and wanted to give some info on my experience with it.

Reason for purchase: I wanted a vape for dog walks. It had to have a small footprint to not draw too much attention and at least be almost covered entirely when in my hand. The size works very well for this usage. It can burn through a bowl pretty quick on session or on demand. This is a great vape for out and about..

Appearance/Display: from pictures online, it was difficult to tell if the body finish looked cheaper or more high end. My initial thought/feeling was this unit was aesthetically appealing. When I turned it on, the display surprised me. It looks better than all my other vape displays. It does not feel nor look cheap in any way. I like how in on demand mode it shows the bowl heating up visually with the colors on the display (colored ring).

Accessories: The silicon sleeve is helpful to prevent dropping the vape. I'll be walking outside in the cold during winter also, and I can see where the body could easily slip out of your hands in those conditions. The silicon cover is cheap and works well (stays in place). I don't see any issues with potentially dropping the vape with the sleeve on. It is a heat shield as well, but I've used the vape in back to back sessions without the sleeve and it did not seem too hot at all compared to some of the other vapes I have.

Performance: I used this both with WPA and with the mouthpiece. Both worked well. What surprised me is how it seems better at producing vapor with a faster, stronger draw (thanks for the tip Lesplenty). Both session and on demand work well and can quickly finish a bowl, if you want. Here's a tip, when in on demand mode, hit it while it's heating up too for a flavor punch before the vapor. Get a pattern of 5 secs holding the button and then stop for a second or two and press again. Hitting it hard at temp and in this pattern is good for producing vapor. Forgot where I read this online, but glad for the tip.

This is a really nice vape for the money and a great vape for when wanting to be discreet while out.

PS- the unit does have a bit of odor the first handful of uses. It was pretty bad at first and I was concerned whether it would dissipate or not. I did wipe everything down initially and soaked some items in iso for about 15 mins. After the handful of sessions, I don't have any odor of any kind that I notice anymore. It's not an issue.

I busted out the roffu to use and wow, it packs a strong punch on the on demand mode, I was doing stronger inhales, basically hitting it like a bong almost, forgot how strong the roffu was.

Yeah well, fuck. I bought the roffu and can't get a cloud for shit. I finally lost my Fury and came here and read all 87 pages and ordered the roffu lite from xvape. I've had it for a few days now and ....disappointed.

I'm not new to portable vapes too many to remember but those that I do remember are the Vapir NO2, Davinci IQ, Starry 3's, xmax v2pro, the Fury and now the Roffu. It seems like the same old story, spend $120, huff and puff and barely get anything at all.

The problem is you cant return these once to try them so your stuck with a $120 18650 battery and a bad taste in your mouth or maybe I need that metal chamber and the WPA which I did something similar with the Fury and saw no improvement. If I had to to do over again I wouldn't have bought the roffu.

Yeah I've used all the temps, all the packs. 3 min 6 min variations. I removed the top screen etc etc. Even at 428 the glass bowl doesn't cook the AVB very dark or even. It also doesn't hold very much herb and hard to load. Even that stir stick that's in the bottom won't go back in now. The top get's hot and burns my lips at 428 but I still get near zero vapor. Forget vaping at lower temps, you're just breathing air. I've tried slow draws, sipping draws, long slow draws and the results are nearly the same. That Fury was pretty lame/tame but this Roffu is even lamer/tamer.

I should have tried the Starry 4. I bought 2 of the starry 3's but both had the battery door broken spring issues rendering them useless. I got sick of buying starry 3's and bought the Fury ( a mistake), then rather than try the Starry 4 after I lost the Fury, I picked the Roffu. A mistake I wish I had not made.

So if you can get this roffu to rock your world, all my best to you.

It's getting hot but not giving vapor?
One of the areas you might check is how well the silicone insert is "seated" into the mouthpiece. There are one or two ways it can be slightly "off" anf letting in extra air, seriously diluting whatever vapor might be trying to come thru.
Take the top off and try drawing on it while coverig the screen hole with a finger, you'll easily tell if it is leaking.
I use the glass mp, glass chamber, and I prefer Roffu over V3Pro and Starry (I have both of those)

You said you tried slow draws, sipping draws, and long slow draws....Les said many times in this thread, and I reiterated in my review, that you will get better results with a faster draw. I'm sorry you aren't enjoying it. It did take me a few times to get it to work for me in a way that made me happy w the purchase. The key was a faster draw though. Try that. Also, be sure to let it heat soak for about 20 sec after it gets to temp before your faster draw. There are videos of people getting a decent amount of vapor from the Roffu. It is def possible with that vape. For 120 bucks I think it's a hell of a deal. It's super stealthy and great for out and about.

If you want something that packs a bigger punch, try something with a larger bowl or use a bong with your vapes. Good luck.

As stated above, you should be able to get good clouds with a loose pack and a faster/harder draw even at lower temps (170c/340f is my lowest used temp), sipping on an overpacked metal bowl will work eventually but you have to wait for the heat soak conduction to kick in. The only way to get no vapor but still get very hot is if the silicone on the cooling unit is inserted with the hole at the wrong end (the silicone's hole has to be above the hole of the cooling spiral)...yes, I have done this more than once and it makes it harder than a thick shake to pull on.
If you have checked that and everything else in the hints through the 87 pages of info it would be safe to say you have a defective unit, this is now very rare with the Roffu as it has had minor tweaks/updates during its life...but electronic devices can still have problems no matter how reliable the product is overall.

I initially tried the Roffu with the metal WPA..which may be better w slower draws, maybe not. I used the zirconia mp/standard setup with faster draws and it worked well also. I'll need to revisit with the metal WPA and change to a faster draw after a bit of heat soak and see how that goes. Either way it worked fine for me. Just wondering if I can squeeze a bit of more performance....

I'm sorry, it isn't the actual wpa that is steel, that is made from glass. The chamber can be swapped to steel. https://www.420edc.com/topgreen/xlux-roffu-metal-chamber/.

I bought the vape from 420edc and ordered the metal chamber setup for it (SS or titanium, not sure which it is). Pretty sure the steel chamber is also on the Roffu site as well as an accessory.
Thanks for the explanation. I bought mine from 420 EDC as well. I have both the glass and the middle chamber or I think sometimes I see they call it the oven. I kind of go back and forth between the glass and the metal. I do think the metal helps a bit with conduction around the edges that the convection may not fully get, and it fits a tiny bit more plant material, but I definitely think when I have a really good tasting herb, I'd rather use the glass because it definitely brings out more flavor.

Hey peeps,

im getting back to an electronic vape. I have the dynavap but i need something that i can use out and about.. Im gonna use it with cbd and tobbacco, since i became a dirty chain smoker after i quit ecig vaping.. Anyway, i found this little nugget of vape and i like what im seeing and reading, except the mouthpiece. I cant imagine myself in some bar sucking on that thing. I know that there is the wpa, but its glass and first time it falls or i hit something with it, its gonna break... The mouthpiece is basically my only big gripe and im really not sure if i shold buy it because of it. I would also have to buy the stainless chamber.. So its 130€ here plus the wpa and chamber, thats idk some 15ish, so im at 145€ or so..

On the other hand, theres the Xvape Fog Pro. I had the previous version of the Fog (non pro), was really happy with it till it quit. There was some known problem with the electronics.. But the thing was perfect. Bulletproof. I really liked the mouthpiece, it swivels, it wont break.. Its about the same unit. The roffu is probably a bit better, but again, the mouthpiece and the cost. Fog pro is 90€ and i dont have to buy anything other than maybe the dosing capsules..

What do you guys think?

I really liked the mouthpiece
The mouthpiece has a lot to do with enjoying a vape and I too was a bit put off by the cooling unit on the Roffu before I got it but after using it for some time I have learned to quite like it.:2c:
I have broken 1x glass WPA part but that can have any metal tube shoved in it for a more robust option (a DV stem/revolve etc work great, even the tube the dosing caps come in will work with a stretch).
We are not really supposed to compare vapes in specific vape threads so you may need to read/post here for more detailed comparisons,
