Also with out the grommet the Dosing Capsules can be sucked up into the Cooling Unit.
That was never an issue for me. Sure it rattles a bit if you shake the Roffu, but when drawing, my cap stays put and does not lift off just from me drawing. You guys must be sucking quite hard to make that happen...

What they need to make is an official lid JUST for the metal & glass chambers. That would eliminate the need for the CU grommet AND the dosing caps.

Best to do the initial burn-offs without the CU attached as you just suck all the vapor into the parts you are trying to 'cure'.
I did not even bother with my latest Air Blue version as the herb and heat seem to work for me just fine to break the unit in, others may have far more sensitivity to those 'new car' smells than myself though.

Do the vinegar/water first then for good measure to get rid of the vinegar smell, you can make a paste with bi-carb/water to smear over the parts (I just made up the slurry/paste in a plastic test tube) and leave them overnight.
A hot water flush after the vinegar/water, rinse and repeat seems the faster route from my experience.

It seems the smell is not just coming from the silicon parts.

If I take off the mouthpiece and the bowl above the heating element....and do a max session, 6 mins, and I smell above the heating element...it absolutely has a chemical smell still.

It's the same smell in the mouthpiece but I think that's from me pulling the initial burn-offs air through the mouthpiece originally.

Any ideas on how to get rid of the smell from the unit or is that something that just comes with use over time? I'll still try the vinegar stuff with the mouthpiece/silicon though.

PS- What I'm trying now is 6 mins, max temp, and blowing directly into the airhole near the button while it's doing that to hopefully air out the smell.

That 'new silicone' smell should get fainter with use not more prevalent. If the smell persists with normal use (my early unit took a few battery charges to get fully neutral to my sense of smell but my newer units were right from the start), get in touch with your retailer or, call our Head Office,

Unless you’ve got some randomly nasty device, using it more will get rid of the funky smell and taste. Mine lasted a couple days but about 6 bowls in I couldn’t notice it anymore.

Also guys, I’m on like 3000 puffs and still haven’t cleaned this thing 😅 what’s everyone’s routines on how to do it?

I got my Roffu from recvapes the other day and I gotta say I'm really impressed with this lil vape.

I mainly use it in session mode with the ss bowl at 220 for 3 mins and by god it rips! I've finally found a little heavy hitter here and I love it.

Hey, you compassion on insta? I enjoy your posts with RecVapes 😁🍻

Personally I loooove 220 through glass and 200 native (with 220 just to cash the bowl)

I would get in touch with them at BuyVapo to confirm the shipping cost otherwise here may help?

Just one of the bonuses of owning the Roffu, only the cooling unit needs cleaning (rarely if you employ the mesh screen in the CU grommet) and that becomes just about unnecessary once you use the WPA/Glass MP...only the glass seems to get resin build-up.

Yeah, idk. I used it for a few weeks exclusively and then went back to the SSV. After using the SSV for months and returning to this the chemical taste was *super* obvious in the roffu.

Maybe I just didnt use it enough? Maybe I didn't clean the rubber parts enough after the initial burn-offs?

Either way. I've now tried white vinegar yesterday 2 hrs, wash, 2hrs on, wash, etc. And then let the 2 silicon parts sit in a baking soda paste over night. It didn't seem to do much.

So today! I put them in a bag with white vinegar again. This time for 5 hrs straight without removing them and I'm going to let them sit in baking paste again overnight. Hopefully this does the trick....

I usually use the 50/50 water/white vinegar for an hour before rinsing well with hot water then repeating if needed until neutral. The o/night bi-carb paste is usually just to remove the vinegar smell.
Another trick is to leave the silicone in direct sunlight but this takes days.
If after all your efforts the problem persists, start a warranty ticket.

A few pages back someone was talking about the "o-ring next to the heater"... Is that what holds the chamber in place when you insert it into the unit?

I can't tell just from looking at mine, it's a tight dark space in there... I can't tell if the chamber is being held there by an o-ring, or by something else.

The older version has an o-ring, later versions have a steel spring retainer.

Thank you for all your help by the way! The design and feel of this thing is so sleek and it's convection, on-demand? Ah yeah...

That's when you put the glass MP in the direct path position above the bowl and heater. That way you get resin build-up only in the glass MP but you have to use a screen on the grommet to filter out the herb particles as you draw (if you hit the unit native). I've tried both but I usually prefer to put my glass MP in the offset position above the cooling pit.

When you put the glass MP in the offset position you get some honey oil build up in the cooling pit and in the little path between both sides (the bowl side and cooling pit side) in the CU. The complex vapor pathway traps the herb particles. I still use the grommet without any screen at the moment. The grommet prevents the rattling of my capsules when I flip the unit. The maintenance is easy since with no screen used nothing can really get clogged. Q-tip dipped in iso after every few sessions to remove the resin build-up in the CU and MP; and the occasional iso bath for a more thorough cleaning. I blow into the heater holes and top heater cover after every session and sometimes use the brush to remove abv crumbles on it and in the capsules.

When you put the glass MP in the offset position the unit does a tremendous job at cooling the vapor. Even without the spiral. In the offset position the vapor takes at least two 90 degree angles. Cooling it a lot. I get dense and cooled vapor.

This was over 650 puffs with no CU maintenance or capsule used as the mesh screen does a great job, only resin gets built up(I only opened it to clean due to bubbling noises in the resin),

Should use a dab tool and save the resin to test a dab later, seems like it has tons of cannabinoids left.

Given that this vape can't be fully cleaned, the roffu not really intended for years and years of use. That said, considering the whole top part as "consumable" is a copout for an inadequately designed component on a supposedly luxury device.

I still really like my roffu. It sits next to my bed with it's dosing caps. Great feel in the hand, nice weight, and lots of cool vapor. The on demand mode is too much of a hassle since it's not instant. I just use session mode now.

It's a beautiful device. It's also the only vape I take with me when traveling, given the dosing caps, cooling, vapor production, and low smell.

Not really understanding your comment: "can't be fully cleaned." IMO, the Roffu one of the easiest vapes I've owned in terms of cleaning. The only parts that really need a good cleaning is the top part and everything in it. I ended up purchasing an extra top part so I could have one ready while the other parts are being cleaned. Nothing to clean on the main-part other than the screen on the heater (I use a Q-tip) and wipe the body with a soft cloth. I wouldn't call the whole top part a "consumable", but the rubber components and screen are consumables. They give you some replacements in the kit and you can buy them too.
As far as your comment: "not really intended for years and years of use." Being a previous Davinci IQ2 user, I'm already ahead of the game with the Roffu. I've owned three Davinci's; two IQ2's and one Micro C, and although they are awesome vapes, longevity is not one of their high points. The IQ2's have a 10-year warranty but I got tired of making video's and mailing it back for service. All three Davinci vapes failed within months of use.

the whole top part as "consumable" is a copout for an inadequately designed component on a supposedly luxury device.
The vape was listed this way since it was for sale and a lot of thought went into the cooling side of things...only the electronic part is warranted and the company refers to all the other parts as 'consumable' to avoid confusion about what is covered by warranty.
I wouldn't call the whole top part a "consumable", but the rubber components and screen are consumables.
It is not really a consumable if you look after it with a bit of mechanical sympathy and use iso sparingly...place the CU on the device, don't just throw it near and let the magnets do the job as they are very strong and can damage the plastic housing eventually.

People refer to this if you cannot clean the air intake side of the vape.

Mmm, I didn't think the air intake needed cleaning. My understanding is that only clean air enters the intake as you inhale, that clean air is heated and then drawn up through the herb. Unless I'm wrong, the only way the air intake and heater can get dirty is if you don't use a screen in the metal oven part, causing burnt particulates to fall into the heater.

I think there are two possible answers.
First, dust, and concievably other "contaminates" might enter the air intakes holes simple from the vape being in a pocket or bag. Or the air itself, omg!

Second is the possibility of vapor occasionally going in the wrong direction - especially likely when placing the vape on or off of a bong, sometimes you might even see a puff come out of the air intake. Over time the condensed vapor might (and does) build up in the intake path.

My opinion is that with some care, most of the above can be avoided, and generally speaking the air untake doesn't need cleaning.
