Full disclosure: I was recently contacted by TopGreeen and asked to provide feedback on the Xmax V3 Pro. I agreed so they sent me a complimentary unit.

I received the V3pro yesterday from the competition so that was quick shipping to the UK! Thank you Xmax!

I wanted to ask a few questions before I review the V3 for my social media as there are a few issues I don't know are common or isolated to my unit as I've heard nothing but praise from friends so im a little baffled to be honest. I'm comparing it to my HR Rogue and OG mighty.

I bought the glass mouthpiece accessory and the wpa accessory. Vapor is basically none existent at anything less than 220c with any of the mouthpieces unless I pull quite hard like through water ill get some vapor but not a lot and I'm able to easily vape without water at this temp which seems strange as I can't on the Rogue or mighty as its too strong.

At 180c or lower there is a slight flavour but nothing else and when the session is over (3 mins) I have it in session mode but have tried both modes. The herb has a char to the middle but not much else and is nowhere near dark enough for the temp compared the the rogue etc. I'm wondering if you need to preheat this or is my unit faulty or is this normal behavior? I'm just a bit disappointed as I had a few friends very excited about getting one for the price.

I'm using an external charger. Xtar and efest and also have tried the battery it came with and also some 3000mah 35amp batteries and also vtc6's.

Thank you

Try blocking all but the top line of air intake holes. Although I haven't seen the heater on the V3 Pro, it has to be tiny because it heats up amazingly fast, and of course the V3 Pro isn't a large device so there's not much room for a large heater. I therefore suspect that it can be overwhelmed by the airflow.

When I first tried it I felt that the air intake was too noisy, so my original reason for blocking the holes was for noise reduction not vapour improvement. I immediately noticed that I got vapour a lot faster, and it was thicker as well. When I started reading this thread, I found that others have also made this discovery: @Petetbay and @3 Feet Farms and maybe others I don't recall. I've done a comparison test using my Orbiter so that I could see the vapour production, and the results at 220°C are dramatic.

As @LesPlenty recommended, several "cigar puffs" can prime the vape and get the vapor production started. Alternatively you can block the air holes as @pakalolo recommended. Either method will work. I use three cigar puffs and then start drawing after a fourth.

At around $100 the V3Pro does not have the most powerful heater on the market, so don't expect to get huge clouds with very little effort (as you might with the Hopper IO or the TinyMight). But it has enough power to produce a couple of big clouds per bowl, and it can thoroughly extract the goodies and produce dark brown to black ABV. A stir after a couple of hits can produce more even ABV.

I personally do not enjoy the cigar puffs and find that does not work for me. Blocking holes doesn’t seem to work either and is awkward to hold. I legit just huff on the fucker real hard and boy she blows clouds. Girlfriend feels the same and does the same technique. Just huff that sucker.

No I agree and just think there are too many holes probably, yeah I can adjust draw on it to properly get good hits, but especially through water it is much easier to cover some of the holes for quicker thicker rips!

Here's another vote for just covering some of the holes to get thicker vapor. I just use my fingers and cover/uncover the holes as I draw to get the vapor I want and to clear the hit, basically like a carb on a pipe or bong. I have other vapes sitting in their box (Linx Eden) where the draw is too tight and there's nothing you can do about it. With the V3, at least you can tighten the draw up if you want by covering some holes, either all the time with tape or a band or when you want with a finger or two.

Post a photo! :)

It's just two pieces of masking tape. Looks terrible but works great. No doubt there are more elegant solutions.

Can this be safe for the long term durability for this vape? Surely those holes are there for some reason. I guess my concern is that over time, the internals could get gunked up and maybe things might stop working as they should? Again this is complete conjecture at this point

Nothing will get gunked up, this is on the intake side. All this does is reduce the airflow over the heater. This allows the heater to get hotter, which I suppose could shorten its lifetime. In my opinion, this is unlikely and I'm quite happy to take the risk.

V3 was in the rotation, so the v3 went on a night out to the pubs at the weekend.

It still surprises me that you get this quality of vapor, with removable batteries for less than £100. Everyone that has used it is impressed.

I have a vape band blocking half the holes, this really makes a big difference, and is now my standard setup. The band also helps to keep the lid on

If you get a hot spot...you packed too tight!
Try a fine grind and sprinkle fill to 3/4 full, no tamping then on session mode (even at 180c for good vapor) do 5 or 6 hard 'mouth-pulls' to prime the load then lung pull for 5+ seconds and repeat, the mouth-pull primers are needed less as you get through the sesh.
The Rouge and Mighty are more conduction orientated and cook the herb whereas the V3 is mostly convection heated so you have to pull heat through the load to vaporize it.

I use a wakit electric grinder that I grind quite fine and do not pack it just sprinkle it in. I've tried a full load 3/4 1/2 but still the same results. I've figured I need to pull slowly due to convection to get the vapor but there is still not much at all even slowly pulling through at 220c so I'm a bit baffled.

Apologies I have to reply separately due to the character limit.

I've tried blocking the airflow and it helps some but doesn't make much difference even on 220c

Thank you ill go check that out. I just wondered if my device was faulty as it never feels that hot

Yeah im just struggling getting much vapor at all trying different methods. I'll keep trying but my avb isn't evenly cooked even after 3 mins and just looks lightly charred. I'm trying different draw techniques and it's not my first vape so it's throwing my a little as the reviews I watched are not the same as what I've got.

I'll try the cigar puffs today and see if that helps. Huffing it gives me a bit of vapor but not much.

A vape band works well too (a rubber band they sell to protect nic vape tanks)

Never thought of this I do have a band lying around somewhere so I'll give that a try.

I did find through water it was better but not much vapor still. Although I'll try the rubber band method. We'll silicone

Ok sounds like it's hole covering time lol I hopefully can master this as I really want it to he a great vape I can recommend to people. I love how well its built I just need to get it hitting right.

Are you using the standard mouthpiece or do you have a fave? I got the glass and wpa and find the glass to be worse than the stock mouthpiece for some reason.

@Medivapequeen just make sure you don't cover all of the holes! Sometimes it's fun to play it like a flute if you can watch the vapor in a bubbler... Yeah the stocks WPA is a bit wobbly for me but it works okay, I still like the Fury 2 WPA a lot with it... Forgot to ask what temperature is you were using? And yeah just load it loose gentle tamp at most, medium grind consistent? Keep trying!

I've got it set up Like this for now and vapor is better but this is as good as i get at 220c and I'd say 3 good hits. Anything less than 220 is giving me flavour but nothing else. I'm trying don't worry I'll get there lol

@Medivapequeen Do you have any other 18650 batteries you could try ? Maybe you got a bad one .
Btw hits look good to me.
I've tried a few different batteries with it. The one that came with it. A standard 25a 3000mah efest, Samsung and Sony vtc6 and vtc5. Maybe I'm expecting too much it looks a lot of vape but I don't feel the hit as such. It is better though with the vape band.

Haha ,looks like someone is in for T-break. Hopefully it is not a problem in your situation ? No matter how hard a vaporizer hits, eventually tolerance will catch up with you and effect will diminish no matter what you do. Before i discovered vaporizers over a decade ago, i was blasting BHO like mad and consuming 2 grams a day for a couple of years. I got a DBV and decided i will only vape to check if my tolerance is down so i can get satisfaction. Took about 6 months for things to normalize. Now i look at my DBV as wasteful and a big bowl vaporizer. Until i switched to logvapes , i believed more is more ,but then i found that less is more. Managing your tolerance is quite the art, hopefully you will be able to find your pace, too. I havent had the need for T-break for years and consume the same ammout every day and i avoid regular use of concetrates .
Here is a nice thread : https://fuckcombustion.com/threads/micro-dosing.19915/
For me some of those guys are bit extreme, but i believe every word .They are getting satisfied and experience full effects of small amounts and vaping a lot didnt cut it for them.

Unfortunately as a medical user replacing heavy opiates a T break isn't really an option. My tolerance is a lot lower now that before I went legal and vaped. I'd probably have 6G a day plus multiple dabs (2g) I'm now prescribed 70g a month and barely use 4G a day if that now so I'd say my tolerance is lower if anything but I know exactly what you mean. I try and switch strains to get rid of any lock and it helps but with the Tafée, mighty and even rogue on 180 i feel it.

Yeah I was probably the same vaping has absolutely saved me a fortune and helped my health. But I digress! The simple vape band trick has worked a treat. Im getting better vapor although it's still around 210 it's alot better so thank you :)

It worked!!!

Great to hear you are getting the hang of it ! This one really cool band, i am fan of the show and the comics . Yeah rotating strains works great if you have that option ,hopefully someday prohibition will be no more where i live or i move to a better place :). Many members share that the best way to combat tolerance build up is strain salad(mixing strains) . It delivers a wider range of terpenes and other potentiators you cant get from one strain alone . Yeah vaping saves lives for sure even if people dont really know it :).

Not only rotating strains but rotating vaporizers. It's also a great excuse for VAS 🙃
