Thank you, nicely done.
I wonder if blocking all except the lower row of holes would be significantly different then the upper, as you have done.
I noticed the title of the Youtube calls it V2, s/b V3, no?

Oops! Thank you for noticing.

I hadn't tried that but now I don't need to:

I tried both ways, open at the top works better. :hmm:

Here's my comparison showing the effects of blocking most of the intake holes:

Great comparison!

I also find the V3 Pro annoyingly noisy! My take is that the noise is most likely caused by the tiny holes in the bottom of the oven. Covering intake holes blocks some of that noise. The noise can also be reduced by holding the vape with your hand wrapped around the holes, but not blocking them.

Thank you thats very helpful I have a mini Pete so similar set up and I'm going to try blocking more holes. Thank god for 2 vape bands ha. If this was tested by xmax though why are we having to jury rig it so to speak to get it working properly. I would have thought the airflow issues would have been picked up early on or some form of adjustable could have been implemented.
I tried both ways, open at the top works better. :hmm:
Strange why open at the top works better

@Medivapequeen Have you tried really long draws (like 15s+)? Draw length can make a big difference with this device.
Yes I've tried long draws, slow draws, cigar puffs but the vapor is only as ever as goof as my video. For me it just doesn't hit hard even through the rig but I'll try it today with only the tip holes visible and see if it's any better. At the moment I just can't reccomend it out of the box I feel the rogue is better value tbh for the extra ££

I think thats why I thought my unit was faulty as it just feels like there's not much power there but I guess it's more of a session vape really and different to what I'm used to. I usually take around 10-12 second draws like I do on the mighty and rogue but have changed the technique a bit with this although I'm just a bit sad because I thought it was going to be a great budget vape but I can't reccomend as it is really. I suppose for new vapers it will do but im not sure about anyone else. That's just my opinion. Or they need to start shipping it with an included vape band lol

Unit should arrive tomorrow. I’m very excited - the Edge has been great for milking my water pipes but it’s kind of a pain to either have to turn it on periodically and feeling like in between hits I’m slightly wasting material.
The on demand feature is a game changer……

Strange why open at the top works better

Actually I think it makes sense, because the heater is at the bottom of the chamber, so the air flows that are lower or closer to the heater and cooling it down, so it's better to cover those air holes and leave the ones at the top open so there's a little more room for the air to flow and get heated? Sorry it's not working out for you, I wouldn't say this is a power portable, though it is quite versatile and efficient... I hope you get a new TB soon since I guess we hit it out of the park for your needs with that suggestion! Good luck

Sounds like the V4 needs an adjustable airflow dial for peeps that like a bit more conduction to convection ratio, would not be hard to implement?

Exactly!
When adjustable airflow hit the ECig market is was huge. That was so long ago, still amazes me how far behind on some of the flower vape devices are compared to the technology on ECig devices. Maybe it’s a bigger market, but regardless, with all the copying and cloning, I would think the designers of these products would have incorporated the basic known working stuff from popular ECig devices. A few are catching up, my Davinci IQ2, does have bottom adjustable airflow that works great. Oh well....

After watching the video Papalolo kindly produced, I can’t draw as long as he was before vapor production began. I also use the little Herbolizer sphere, except dry with balls, to view vapor results. I haven’t bought one yet, but can now understand why the “cigar puffing” has been suggested. Though that hack, to prime the load, seems that one would miss the nice flavor one gets in the first few draws on convection vapes like my TM, GH IO, and even after the first click on a fresh DV. I would definitely need to cover some holes when I get one.

I'll check out the comparison vid when I get a chance, but I don't worry about blocking the intake hole's as it doesn't seem to be worthwhile for me. Sometimes I'll pinch the device to block them, but actually I'm finding no real benefit. It doesn't seem to do all that much with my devices in a mild ambient setting, it still takes a short while to ramp up output, but once it gets going the clouds I'm getting are white walling my rigs with ease, with or without any airflow modulation, for longer than I can inhale (a long time).

Also interesting to note that my units don't sound noisy with normal use. The airflow to me seems nothing out of the ordinary, it's not whistling or making much noise to note at all.

The technique that works best for me is full throttle rips for a solid 30s. Offering mega clouds, and a pretty good effect too. That's my favourite way to go with any vape, and I've totally converted to the V3 Pro now, it does it well.

It's working wonders with the Fury2 WPA, it's efficient, effective and super clean and simple to use. Very reminiscent of my cone toking days, which is all I need. Obviously it's much better!

Sometimes I'll use the V3 glass adapter so I can fill the chamber and get slightly bigger hits. A nice and small step up when the tolerance builds from the tiny ~0.1g glass bowl of the fury2 WPA.

Using that small bowl has been a great change for my habit, easier to keep on top of it and a great balance of efficacy. It's crazy how good the output is off of micro packs too, just a 1/3rd of chamber fill will still give a proper hit.

I haven't used the Sub for a while now, several weeks. It's ready waiting for when I want to take it to the next level and get trippy full blown effects.

But the V3 Pro is giving me awesome bong hits, great battery life, and a very practical usage. And a clear head the next day, or the perfect quick hit wake and bake if need be. Really uplifting.

I'm not left wanting much at all, but I would be happier with slightly more heat and slightly better controls (3-clicks is kind of annoying, and it's all I do just triggering the 6 min timer and blasting off at my convenience) .

I also really like the direct hits from this vape.

It's close enough as a do-it-all for me. Just enough power. I'm really happy with it.

The band covering the holes will help regulate draw speed, but is there any other difference between the covering the holes method and simply using a slower draw speed - they both reduce the amount of cool air flowing over the heater while drawing, right?

That's what I'd assume too, but it's hard to do a side-by-side comparison where you draw at the exact same rate with the holes open as you would with most of them closed (need a way to judge actual flow rate accurately).

There is one other factor at play though: more restriction lowers the pressure in the bowl, which lowers the boiling point of the actives so they evaporate sooner. This is one of the primary functions of a carb cap when dabbing.

I have a little tip for those where the magnet on the standard mouthpiece falls out.
It has happened to me with some mouthpieces. I have now noticed that it happens more often when you pull off the mouthpiece when the vape is still hot instead of when you let it cool down first. And when it fell out, I've had the experience that if you put it back in when the vape is hot and then let it cool down, it often hold tight again after it has cooled down.

Sounds like the heat is softening the adhesive that holds the magnet.
I use the glass wpa all the time, glass attachment on not. It's mags are in the right place.
I do prefer opening and emptying a bowl while still warm.

I always remove the MP while hot and have had no problems with magnets (both units). I will say I have only used my ultrasonic cleaner with 50c hot water. My ultrasonic cleaner has often picked up faults in glass (it will break anything that is not welded right) and will separate anything not properly attached...maybe I have just been lucky or the way the magnets are retained does not even like soap?

This might be my favorite portable. Works with my dosing capsules, but the extraction without them….wow.
And I can use the holes almost like a carb, feathering the bottom so to speak to control the vapor a bit more finely.
I’m VERY impressed.

to date I’ve used 2 sticky brick variations, numerous dynavaps (that I do still love), a POTV one, a Fury Edge which is almost identical, and an OLD iolite vaporizer like a decade ago lol.
I do like my POTV/Fury a lot….. but the on demand mode and built in stir tool are giving this a huge edge.
And I’m getting nice clouds on the first, second, third, fourth rip……..

I use it exclusively through water and I’m currently thrilled. It’s beating out any desktops at the moment as well. What a punch for like 100 bucks……

I suspect you'll waste a lot of money on tooling for a 19mm WPA, only to sell a hand full to enthusiasts who don't have 19-14mm adapters or are too stubborn to use them. As far as airflow is concerned, the V3 Pro's constriction is enough that no one could truly tell the difference between 14mm and 19mm airflow.
I believe you are right, it may be not the best investment concerning sales but it's always good to offer such options to the Xmax family! I'll try to push in this direction!
I'm guessing, mainly because I don't have the piece in hand, that something like this could replace the glass in the 14mm adapter

Oh yes, is the fitting as good as a single size adapter? Forgotten that type of multi size ground glass joints existed.
I finished up my review of the Xmax V3 Pro, so far this guy has been out punching its price point. Tough to beat fully adjustable temp, convection leaning hybrid heating, and replaceable batteries all for about a hundred bucks. It fits nicely in my pocket for skiing, although I did have the lid pop off in my pocket once, so something to be aware of if it gets jostled around too much in a pocket or backpack.
Wow, you bring it under xtrem conditions! Did it was still working as good as in a more tempered environment? I'm glad you appreciate the Xmax V3Pro, we'll consider to find a fix for the lid popping off in the pocket, thank you for sharing in a such beautifull view!
I received the V3pro yesterday from the competition so that was quick shipping to the UK! Thank you Xmax!

I wanted to ask a few questions before I review the V3 for my social media as there are a few issues I don't know are common or isolated to my unit as I've heard nothing but praise from friends so im a little baffled to be honest. I'm comparing it to my HR Rogue and OG mighty.
Hi, I'm very sorry about the issues you encountered. I read this post and the others you posted after. It looks like you was able to get slightly better results but not the ones you are looking for, is it right?
At this point, here my suppositions:
- unit works well but I noticed you are vaping CBD strains, from my understanding (I'm not so much used to CBD strains, I use that strains but only to blend with others flowers) this strains need high t° in order to release vapor, cause CBD need high temp to release and since they are usually a lot less resinous... I noticed "weak" flowers(without disrespect) to work a lot better in conduction based vaporizers (or hybrid like the ones you mentionned), convection vaping can't compensate the lack of resin by the heat soak, just some thoughts... I may be wrong.
- unit is faulty... sadly it may happens a dude is coming through QC, if you still have this feeling we'll take care of you, the Queen deserves to get a perfectly working vape!
Full disclosure: I was recently contacted by TopGreeen and asked to provide feedback on the Xmax V3 Pro. I agreed so they sent me a complimentary unit.
Thank you for sharing your opinions and for trying to help. Yes the heater isn't as powerfull as the one you can find in such powerfull devices the TM or the GH are, but, considering that "small" heater, such performances are amazing! I noticed your wish to see a adjustable air flow and, I agree, it's a bit noisy. Is dramatic results means good results?
Can this be safe for the long term durability for this vape? Surely those holes are there for some reason. I guess my concern is that over time, the internals could get gunked up and maybe things might stop working as they should? Again this is complete conjecture at this point
If you just block off the lower holes I can't see any issue, the idea behind this technic isn't to increase the t° (it's not possible btw) but to disminish the fresh air amount in your hits, you get less diluted hits, I see it like that!

V3 was in the rotation, so the v3 went on a night out to the pubs at the weekend.

It still surprises me that you get this quality of vapor, with removable batteries for less than £100. Everyone that has used it is impressed.

I have a vape band blocking half the holes, this really makes a big difference, and is now my standard setup. The band also helps to keep the lid on
Coming from you I consider a lot your nice words about the Xmax V3Pro, I know you aren't an easy guy to satisfy ;)

Yes, I noticed your concern and I understand it, we'll try to consider that in a potential future version/model.

Sounds like the V4 needs an adjustable airflow dial for peeps that like a bit more conduction to convection ratio, would not be hard to implement?
Not too much I believe... but I'm not an engineer!

Big post like usual ;), like you I doesn't use a lot the air inlets blocked off trick except when I had to vape in public (to reduce noise), it doesn't happen a lot actually...
The band covering the holes will help regulate draw speed, but is there any other difference between the covering the holes method and simply using a slower draw speed - they both reduce the amount of cool air flowing over the heater while drawing, right?
Right, the idea behind this trick is to increase the vapor to air ratio in order to get thicker clouds.
I have a little tip for those where the magnet on the standard mouthpiece falls out.

I don't think it's a so common issue now and I think there is another reason behind the magnet's fall (not enough glue or iso) but I understand what you said and agree it might participate to the issue. In regards to the posts mentionning that issue here or in Reddit, there is no more peoples who had the issue... from my understanding.
This might be my favorite portable. Works with my dosing capsules, but the extraction without them….wow.
Wow, what's a nice feedback! I agree water filtration brings the Xmax V3Pro on another level. Thank you for taking the plunge and for sharing how nice the water is!

I really am not liking this style with the Fury 2 WPA.

I am going to have to commission myself a better adapter/glass bowl, that's how much I don't like it. For now it works with the GH bubbler very nicely, but that's about it.

The "universal adapter" doesn't fit any of my artisan 14mm glass, plus it looks stupid and is not a one-size fits all solution whatsoever. @PPN Just stick with interchangeable glass adapter pieces, or offer reducers/adapters. Many actually want the 18mm size because of the greatly larger bore hole and airflow, those adapters finishing in 10mm tapers do not offer that at all..

Oh poop, I'm in 100% agreement with you on that and have actually fit correct single sized 18mm & 14mm gongs for most all of my vapes. I just couldn't find any references to the one glass piece I've used in the past and this "thing" popped up🙃
