Vaping felt way stronger than smoking for me so I didn't need a break but some people find it helpful.
I found the Volcano particularly good on the higher or hotter settings if say I was thinking about smoking or I'd had a couple of drinks & wanted to smoke. Even though it was an unfamiliar routine, after a couple of bags I was thinking about other stuff, satisfied & cravings squished.
Hope you enjoy it.

Poostuff, thanks for the replies I found it also works great at high temps it's not too irritating, and lower temps seem to work well too!

I will try 4(330F 165C) on the volcano tomorrow and 4.5(340F) to see how well it works on lower temps, it worked great at 5 so I don't see why 4.5 wouldn't be good! I M loving the ease of use and the AbV looks great!! My aromed seems to toast it more, but I don't necessarily feel more effects from the aromed, I find if I wanted a longer drawn out session I would use the aromed and if I was looking for a quicker session or having friends over I'd go with the volcano.

You're welcome @TboneToker sometimes I ask questions here & everyone ignores me. Either I'm asking dumb shit or they all have me muted. Probably both :)
I find the high temperatures a little irritating. It's way smoother through a hydratube but I like the flavour dry.
ABV from the Volcano is worth keeping & will look different from your Aromed. If you end up buying a few vaporizers you'll notice all your leftovers look different. Put them in the same jar & you almost could pick them out individually.

Just coming in on a tangent,

As a Volcano (digit) user I always had a thing about the bag, it just detracted from the otherwise impeccable standard of the Volcano.
However, I've found a great little item that has totally revolutionized the Volcano, this glass adapter (that can be sourced on line,) fits to the easy valve and I am using it with a small (21cm) Percolator Bong.
I have to say that I am more than impressed - so much so that I decided against getting a Vapexhale Cloud!

But the easy valve fits onto standard water pipes anyways haha

I am really enjoying my volcano! I use it with the liquid pad always I hope that's fine. I have had success with the temperature at 4 and up I haven't tried lower yet but I imagine it would work, it can be hard to see the vapor leaving when it's at 4 or less so it can be hard to know when to place the balloon but it works!

4 in the dial is 330 with a fluctuation of 9F so 321-339 range works good. What I notice is that the volcano doesn't actually change from 4.5 to 4.75 for example. Is this true? What I mean is, I know I can place the dial at 5 and it will go up to 5(352F) and 8 know if I then change it to 5.25 the light won't go on til i get to 5.5 is that because that's when I reach a difference of at least 10F so the light switches or can you not go to say 5.66 and only change it by 10F increments?

Or, I'm other words is it a "360" dial or more like a "click" dial with numbers 1 1.5 2 2.5 3 3.5 4 4.5 5 5.5 6 6.5 7 7.5 8 8.5 9

Should I always use the liquid pad or does it affect harshness etc!? I figure using it for 0.1 or less is good?

TboneToker,

Vaporist
I imagine eventually it'll clog
Remember hot air is always going only in one direction.... and any dust settling on the mesh will be continually blown upwards. The mesh will not be able to get clogged. If you use oils and waxes that are high in residues, the mesh can eventually get clogged, but with dry plant matter you are safe for a pretty long time.
I have the easy valve just seeing how long does it take to fill the bag up?
37 seconds.

For my 2 foot bags it takes about 30 seconds depending on how long I let it sit on top once it's "filled" cause you can fill it more than you think even when it stops expanding you can still see vapor going in making the vapor to air ratio more vapored!

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a digital cano w/ easy valve by the end of March. That's when my finances will allow me to do it.

Mass drop had the best prices on the Volcano Vaporizer. Now that they don't offer vaporizer is their another dealer that offers good prices on the digital?

I may even consider eBay or Craigslist. I've seen them at times for $300 used of course.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

I've had good luck on craigslist, but you have to be careful and do a thorough test before you buy.

I plan on it. I've had my good and bad dealings with Craigslist folks. I would absolutely go thru all the setting to make sure everything is in tip top shape.

You can check the serial numbers on the bottom with S&B. Beware of very old Volcanos. Digits are usually OK if they function properly

I bought mine thru PUI a month ago. Best price around and Randy will price match.
Best is to email or call and tell him what you want.
Volcano will last a decade why pinch too much with that. Buy new and enjoy your baby. Mine is named Claire.

Ahahaha  I read "That's when my fiances will allow me to do it" Thinking you had more than one Fiancee !

Craigslist is good but if you're the type who is sensitive to other peoples energies and such, you might want to consider buying a new product because you don't need the negative energies from other people my :2c:. If this kind of stuff is completely nonsensical to you, definitely find a great deal if you can and try it out to make sure it seems to work well! Good luck!

I bought a used Digit that was beaten up within an inch of its life. I had to take it to the service center in Oakland, where they repaired and refurbished it. It blows bags like a champ now, though. I sort of think of it as a "rescue" that I'd saved from unfortunate circumstances.

Does the exact temperature matter that much? I have four vapes now and they all hit different and operate different. I would just play with it and see where your sweet spot is. 330F in one vape will not equate to all vapes. Lots of variables going on, even on the same model. The condition of the vape itself the herb and the operator will make for differences.

@TboneToker Happy you like your volcano purchase, but I was wondering how would the Aromed technique of heating up the herb to a high temperature, then lowering the temperature, would work with the volcano. My theory is it will give better bag quality, because you are priming the herb to let lose the volatile oils much quicker then if you were to just put the herb in cool, and keep it that way until the whole bowl get to temp within a minute or so, if the chamber is really packed.

Remember, it was to load the bowl with good ground up herb. Then heat up the vaporizer to nearly max temperature, such as 446f, for about 10-15 seconds(with bag attached, you don't want to waste vapor). Then quickly stir the herb in the bowl until the herb is evenly distributed in the bowl. Press lightly to make the herb a little dense, which will help the temperature get up to vape temps quickly, and it will stay there much better, then a much looser chamber. After this, lower the temperature to around 340f, then let the first bag fill up with tasty vapor. By the time the second bag is beginning, the temperature in the bowl will be at or near the temperature on the screen, within the first 5 seconds. That means you have about 25 seconds of hot air that is at the exact temperature of the heater, coming into contact directly with the herb. That should give a concentrated extraction for each bag. The rest of the bags, and temperature adjustments, should be much better then if you were to just throw the herb in the chamber, and raised the temperature in adjustments. My theory is you are decarboxylating the herb, therefore allowing more thc to be released quickly, and at lower temperatures. This is good for smoothness, and more pleasant flavor.

I'm also thinking this method would be good for a party. You load the chamber big. Do the technique, then just leave the temperature on low levels, and slowly raising the temperature until everyone is super duper high. They probably wouldn't even see it coming, especially girls. They would just get hooked on the flavor, and smoothness. Because you adjust the temps slowly, that means the high would be slow to come on for everyone. They would be high, and slowly get into the groove of the party, especially if you know how to use music to guide the mood of everyone. I guess that's the good thing about bags, they allow for equal distribution of the herb, and you can use a shitload of herb in the volcano's chamber, while it still being able to fill the bags quickly. I do need to get one, and stop playing!

I had 2 Volcano classics before (had one, sold it, bought a used one, sold it) and now that my LSV is falling apart beyond repair I'm considering getting a Volcano for a third time.

Those of you that have it do you still find it better than many other newer vapes? After looking at new vapes I still think spending twice as much for a Volcano is the better choice.

BTW is it just me or is the newer easy valve just worst in every way imaginable (except maybe for cleaning?) than the original solid valve? Just the fact it doesn't have an adjustable size chamber like the solid valve completely ruins it for me as you can't use as small or as large an amount as with the solid valve.

If you like the solid valve go with it, the easy valve is simply a preference. As for your other question, the Cloud Evo seems to be another great option if you want big clouds or even the Plenty which is made by the same company as Volcano. Or if you like bags and whips check the Herbalizer out.

If you want a good home and portable check out the mighty also by storz and bickel (volcano company)

These are the most revered vapes around as far as I can tell, aside from 7th floor vapes LSV Ssv Dbv etc..

I was considering the herbalizer but a review update says the bags and valve rip after only a few weeks which isn't acceptable at its price. The Volcano valve lasts forever and it costs less (the vape not the valve).

I do have an LSV which was great but it's now falling apart and because 7th Floor vapes have no active temperature control they are annoying to use where I live now as the voltage fluctuates significantly as heaters or the ac go on and off, causing these vapes temp to fluctuate as the ac or heating start and stop. For this reason a vape with active temperature control is an absolute must.

I'm now almost sure I'll get the Volcano digit, I just wasn't planning on spending anywhere near that much so I may try to make my LSV last a bit longer but it really is falling apart so it doesn't have much longer.

I agree with the bags on herbalizer apparently you can modify the volcano bags with the herbalizer. I recommend the volcano you won't be disappointed! Too bad the SSS didn't have a digital readout
