So my gf got me a classic volcano, it's on the FedEx truck for delivery today. Mighty isn't due back until the 28th so I'm psyched!

Just watched a youtube vid, where the guy said to run the classic for the first time at level 9 for 20 mins or so to sterilize the unit, and put the heating chamber bowl on top and let the hot air sterilize that for 3-4 minutes. Is this necessary?

Have any of you done these sterilization steps before your first use?

Merry Christmas to everyone!!

@freestyle99 , hope you enjoy your Volcano classic:clap:. I must admit that I was so excited when I got my Digi Cano, that I just ripped it open and used it! I never heard of that, but maybe others here have? I just assumed because it's Lab Tested for purity and safety and no mention of that with material that came with Cano that it was good to go out of the box. & I've experienced nothing but Bliss from it.
Enjoy your Cano & Merry Christmas to you as well

I do not perform burnoffs in most units.
I definitely do not think it is good in some units.
It would not cause excessive wear on the volcano to run for a couple of minutes.
The issue could be that with no chamber in place, heating with no herbal matter to "get hot" and help moderate the thermostat, you have no way to provide a ceiling.
and for many minutes, the unit keeps heating, since nothing impedes or absorbs and contains the heat, there is no signal to tell the "oven" that it can shut down now.....
It goes at full force trying to achieve 446º, but it can not get there, since there is no chamber with meds to moderate!
I would think letting the unit heat up to the top without the fan going, and leaving it at temp for the length of time that it takes for the unit to shut itself would be sufficient for internal "soils" (which I doubt exist), and a wipe with Iso in the Stainless Steel area and screen of the chamber would handle that area

Or just plug it in, fill the bowl and have at it, like 99% of us did, lol. It's been so long, I barely remember, but I do not think I did a burn off, or recall the instructions calling for it.

One note on vapor, your inhaling hot resiny air, so it can iritate. I like to have cold water handy to cool down my pipes. And as mentioned and popular here is to use warm water in a water tool.

I was among that 99%. I started up many Volcanos right out of the box.
I offered up suggestions for those that are nervous vaporists.. so they could feel the touch of "sterility" without endangering the potential long life of the new unit.

I did not mean to argue. Sorry if i came off that way. And I guess over the, going on 7 years, of owning my volcano the extra five minutes of a burn and clean would not have cost me much, lol. I was the same way for my other vapes as well though. Open it, plug it in, fill and hit that bitch, let that delivery man wait for my signature. Well, something like that, lol.

Thanks for all the replies everyone!

Gonna be ordering up a classic volcano shortly!

My tolerance is pretty high so that is also a factor with the vape i think. I tend to fire up the Mighty with my morning coffee and vape all day until I go to sleep. Now with the Mighty in the shop and my loathing of combusting I'm finally giving my self a chance to let my tolerance go up again haha

One last question before I buy the classic volcano. Does Storz & Bickel offer coupon codes ever? I see a spot for one in the shopping cart. Anyone ever use one?
If you order from the old world the code VAPOBUST gets you 10% off if you order from vaposhop.com , from the US or everywhere else, idk.

What a nice gf you have.
And what a great life if you can handle to vape all day long. :D

Well after lurking in the volcano thread for some time I have decided to get a Digital Cano...this will compliment my Mighty and Plenty...I keep the plenty for guests but use the mighty for my day to day piece. I use both medically and recreationally and think that the volcano will fill a niche in that usage.... I wanted to say thanks to all who have been generous enough to share their experiences...it has really helped with this decision. thanks.

Hi no tsure how this forum works, ear goes?

I have two volcanos. one fills the bag in 30 seconds. the other takes 60+ seconds.
The slow fill gives more of a "Stoned" effect because it vapes more fully. The newer faster one, it works perfect.

1. No pinched tubes, the power of the blower appears ok,
2. no clogged filters,

Unit two the motor sounds much weaker and fills much slower.

They look a lot different, like one is uber old, the slower one is older looking.

Or do the pumps get clogged or wear out?

Is this the older slower pump?

just live with it?

The model numbers are:
Old Unit: 520:624 Filling time 1:20
New unit: 582:329 Fill time 42 seconds.

Hi @Jaycrazydude

Although it seems to be rare, yes some members have already met Volcano pump issue.

You may have a look at past messages in this thread; did you already found this one :

Actually I'm impressed with performance and reliability of this vape also. It has seen a lot of use and I'd be happy to pay $100 for a repair but the shipping from Canada to Cali and back will be a killer.
I've taken it completely apart and it's clean and pristine in there...even the pump looks perfect but something is worn. This one takes a Nitto Kohki VCO100 pump which is used in the medical and industrial field for many applications. There are several large suppliers that have it but they sell in large orders only.

I am wondering what range of temperature the volcano tends to work well with. Will it go to 340 for example?

It seems I can't edit this post up here again but I'm wondering if the volcano classic and digit have the same aluminium case or are they polished differently? In pictures I have seen the digit look shinier but in other pics the classic is shinier???

First the flavor, then the buZzz settles in....
Has anyone else noticed that the cleaning brush from the volcano smells funny? I ran some water through it today because it was rather dusty, so when I went and ran my fingers through the brush a funny smell came from it. I wondering what is this smell and is it ok to keep using the brush. I mean I only use it to clean debris from the chamber when Im done.

Funny smell?? The only thing I can imagine it being is your vaped material. The brush is for the valves.

It smells similar to some kind of enamel to protect the wood, but this is coming from the actual brush itself. I could be mistaken as to what kind of smell it is, but there is definately coming a smell from the brush. I never noticed it until today that I ran it through water and ran my fingers through the brush to better dry it, then it released that smell.

So my volcano arrived today I have not medicated since Wednesday and used it for the first time today.

Wow, it's so easy to use! I love it and can't wait to use it more so that I can properly give it a review! But I'm thinking of taking a week or so off if I can hold myself back so that I can fully Decombustize myself and then start fresh what does FC think!

Btw the mini santa cruz shredder seems like it was made for the volcano easy valve chamber! Same size I grind and then flip it onto the chamber and voilà

That's crazy man, who gets a new Volcano then takes a week off, are you punishing yourself :hmm:
Seriously though you could just use it on high every time you feel like smoking.
What do you mean on high when I feel like smoking??

I just want to clean myself out so I can get the full effect from vaping. I know it seems like a punishment xD thanks for the reply AbvStuff!
