@Vitolo : try another USB cable, maybe the one you have has no data lines and is just a charging one?
@Vitolo you are not alone.
I downloaded the update and tried several USB cables and several ports on the front of the computer (USB 2) Nothing worked.
I have a feeling that it wants a USB 3 cable and I only have those in the back of my computer and I have to replace a disk drive in it and I figure I would only unplug all my devices one time.
I have some good info now.I also had an issue getting my Alternate to be recognized, my problem was the USB cable like @KeroZen suggests. The one I was using only had pins for power transfer, no data. Used a different cable I had lying around and the update worked just fine.
Not giving up on this yet.I had the same issue when updating my unit. Make sure the unit is powered on and I think I also had to "wake" the unit (standby screen on) before it would recognize it in the app.
I don't think just being present here and apologise while never give a definite answer is enough.
Redesign of this cap should be concerned as well, for couple reasons
-It can get hot on some spots, if you are not aware of that you can easily burn your finger.
For example the top of top cap, this flat surface with V And Vivant Logo, you can cook there scrambled egg, easily.
- i think It will be a weak spot of this device, even when made from different material, that heat is absorbed by the surface of top cap, this spot where this stretching when heated, then cooled then heated etc.
@Vivant Are you guys still releasing the videos?
Not giving up on this yet.
Will try and see if Emily gets back to me.
I have tried waking and turning unit on etc....
I will keep trying.
I also worked for many years as a customer facing program manager for some very high tech capital equipment and my portfolio also including CS for my assigned strategic customers.
"Sorry" was never a sufficient response. Why? Because my customers rightly didn't give a shit about my internal emotional state. What they wanted was answers as to how it happened, get it fixed, and provide a plan to ensure it doesn't happen again.
So, I'm with you....I hear "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry" and sometimes I just can't help telling the CS person I don't care about their emotions, what are you going to DO?
P.S. - Personally, I think Emily is doing a yeoman's job of handling a very fraught CS issue. Its not Emily's fault, she's doing great!!
@Vitolo :
If you know anyone with an Android phone they likely have a usb cable that would work (most Android devices use Micro-usb, as does the Alternate).
as of this moment, the company does not have a detailed response to the issues coming forth.
I agree that a lack of a detailed response after WEEKS is unacceptable. The engineers etc. working on the issue should at least have come up with a reason WHY by now.And you are doing exactly right. The answer has to be the correct one the first time or credibility is shot. So, response must be developed and proved out prior to sharing it out with customers. I'm sure we would all urge alacrity on Vivant's part on this task, but I'm sure you guys are already highly motivated to get this corrected and cut down on customer complains.
But keep the pressure on, Emily. Its really not acceptable as is.
Cheers
Thanks for being in touch, and for making so simple a resolution for my issue at hand.
Thumbs up for working with @Vivant to achieve end results amenable to all involved.

I had the same thoughts as you at the beginning. But believe me it will get better. This vape is definitely growing on me. I was tempted to send it back to puffitup for the solo 2 but now i am rethinking that.Just got my Alternate and so far I'm a little disappointed. I'll admit, I have only run 2 session through it but I found by self spending more time blowing through the air intake because of the intense and foul plastic flavor coming out of the unit. I did a burn off at 390 for 4 mins before loading any herb, loaded it, and started at 350. Ended up just puffing with my mouth as I didn't really want to inhale the nasty flavor.
By the end of the second session the flavor was less harsh but even my partner (who rarely vapes almost never comments on smell) questioned what that weird aroma was. My hopes are that after a few more bowls it goes away because there is so much I want to love about this vape. The controlles are easy to learn and it's so versatile. I LOVE the little countdown in session time and the fact that temp stepping should be much more controlled with the shorter sessions. I always found myself turning my Air off half way through so 4-5 mins is perfect for me.
Against my better judgement I'm going to keep loading this thing in hopes of burning off the smell. Probably wait until tomorrow though so I'll post a follow up in a few days.
Mine never had a plastic smell.For those who have had this for a while, how long did it take for the plastic flavor to go away on yours?
