Venty by Storz & Bickel

All I see on social media is Jurgen having a good old time trotting all over the place talking about Venty but, NEVER addresses problems that people are having and also, the return fee that the customer has to dish out to pay for a return...this is unjust and just bad business practice. If your product is faulty like VENTY IS...then, you should have a return service that is free. It is not our fault. It is a scam. I use my Venty everyday...but, know that in my heart it is my THIRD one...it will break down eventually again. How can Jurgen go to sleep at night? Apparently....very well.

I think my Venty just updated firmware. I’m noticing it is vibrating a few times before auto shut off all of a sudden.

Please tell me I haven’t been too high to notice until now.

You can see the firmware version using Bluetooth. The first one pushed was 1.07, and haven’t seen any notifications on a newer one……

My battery indicator blinks for a minute or so before loosing charge and shutting off. This for sure was not happening earlier for me. It would just shut off at any point on the last battery bar. My firmware is the same as yours. Maybe I’m crazy

I do believe the firmware updates are automatic now when you connect to the app.

What does it mean vape ban?
A ban for all dry herb vapes. Or also with liquids?
The new laws seem to change every week, no one seems to know what the fuck is happening. Complete dogs breakfast.
As far as I can make out you need an import licence and approval for each individual dry herb vape, making them basically impossible to buy when existing stock is sold out. But, you can buy them from a chemist ( at greatly inflated price) if you are prescribed medical cannabis. E-cigs are banned but again, you will be able to buy them from chemists if you have a prescription.
That's on top of the world's most expensive cigarettes, $50aud for a pack of 20. Fucking do gooders!

1st RMA came back yesterday (Friday). i sent it out last Thursday via USPS ($8) and there was one holiday in between. that means 5 business days from my vape being dropped off at the PO to receiving the replacement.

i never got a return shipping email, but i did get notified when they approved a replacement.

overall it was pretty quick but if this becomes a repeat performance (most likely it will) i will be extremely annoyed.

...and still the problem. Did you get an E04 ? I cannot believe this is STILL happening and there is not a statement from S and B...makes me wonder how safe this thing is in the long run. I am glad I have other vapes...even though I LOVE Venty for me it is unreliable. They need to improve this right away.

I am sorry you are going through this...I did it twice. On my THIRD Venty.

I just went to go see Jurgen's Instagram page and he is relaxing at some lake...using the MIGHTY not the Venty. Go figure...maybe his got an E04.

I am On VENTY #6,#7- quit counting. my Thoughts;
On the Venty I have(the Latest) I am using Only a regular charger and Not the ‘Supercharger’, I am of the thinking that along with the possibility of the Venty Reaching the desired Temperature Too Quickly ,causing Code E 04
that charging may have A Role in the Code appearing and sometimes Cannot Reset To an Eventual RMA.
My Very First VENTY WAS awesome and THE BEST——-FORCED To Brick it.
The One I have now ‘seems Not As Good as the FIRST Venty‘ Is It me Or Are others seeing the same?decrease in Performance.
Another possibility IS - The strains are not as Good as Advertised.
. Cheers

i see a lot of people holding off on updating. i think we've reached superstition-level venty protection at this point. i get the whole "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality but the first thing s+b is gonna ask if (when?) you file for an RMA is, "did you update the device?"

it makes sense though, with all the E04s around.. it would be nice to feel like the end user has some semblance of control over the situation, but that's just not the case.

i can't believe that this device can function so amazing when it works, but you have to operate it knowing that it will one day stop working for no apparent reason.

Exact same thing happened to me...my first one was perfect. Why doesn't S and B come out and have a news conference or something? Why is it that all I see are ads being bombarded for the Venty on all social media? I have never read or seen any kind of statement about the Venty...this bothers the hell out of me.

Anyone else notice the screens on the Venty cooling unit are total dog shit? I’ve had a Mighty since the first batch in 2014 and these new screens they are making are flimsy and come unwound and bent. I used to clean screens 10 or more times before discarding eventually. These almost need to be tossed out every clean.

Well, scrolling through recent posts certainly has me nervous -- I purchased my Venty solely on brand loyalty and faith that it would be solid (from Volcano and Mighty/+ experiences), without reading many reviews or even touching base with the community here on it. Thankfully, my Venty I purchased back in May is still doin great -- so far! Yeah, not really long enough to be too confident though. At least all my other S&B vapes are still present and functioning, so I'd have those to fall back on if/when I need to RMA this thing...

I use my Venty like I have my Mighties -- almost exclusively inverted, through one of my glass pieces, using either the stainless-lined silicone (which I got from sneakypete) or the glass-lined silicone (from dailyhighclub I think?). I love how it can hit good even with some of my bigger pieces, the higher airflow and faster heater really helps fill a bong a lot faster than any other portable dry herb vape I've used before. I also always use capsules, because they just make life so much easier for me. After every session, I dump out the capsule and use a paper towel to wipe around the (ceramic?) rim of the loading chamber and then blow throw the WPA to dislodge any oil or anything in the screen and wipe it. Probably mostly an OCD thing, but, with the Mighties, I found that, over time, it does legitimately help reduce the sticky buildup on in the vape and adapter, as well as the lids of the capsules (which I reuse at least a couple times, even though I've read that they're meant to be disposable, inferring 1-time use?). Probably my biggest concern though is avoiding build-up inside the vapes air path itself though (my original Mighty is quite clogged), so I try to not leave the vapes inverted between hits.

I'm also curious what everyone's current charging habits are, and if anyone has any information (or even just reasonably educated guesses) as to whether there is anything in that area that could maybe be done to help prevent the dreaded errors from occurring? I normally just slow charge my Venty off a ~20w charger anytime it gets down to around the 30% mark, but once in a rare occasion I will forget and will end up fast charging it from near empty off of an Anker GaN brick or bank, or my MacBook Pro charger. I also have both the charging-related options toggled on in the app - charge current optimization and charge voltage limit. I know things can be different from device to device (and battery type to battery type), but experience has usually taught me that keeping things from getting hot from charging too fast usually extends their lifespan, so that's why I usually default to the slower charger (usually overnight).

Anyways, this is what I'm doing, and I'm open to suggestions if anyone knows of anything I should be doing differently/additionally to, in any way, help prevent this lovely vapes early demise!

While I can’t say for certain, all these error reports seem quite random. If S&B is still having trouble figuring it out, us end users don’t have as good a chance of figuring it out. My only replacement was from the “recall”, and I have had no issues, but while inconvenient, the company seems to dealing with replacements fairly well. Since it’s a guessing game on how many units have been sold, it’s not easy to say how big the problem is globally, though when it affects one personally, it still SUCKS! I’ve been there with many products, how a company deals with warranty claims is the true test.

I use those charging features as well, since the battery replacements are expensive, so I want them to live a long life. With all my replaceable lithium batteries, I don’t baby those, as I can afford to buy more. With those Venty charge settings enabled, you don’t have to worry about using a USB power source that’s capable of delivering more amps. Just remember, if you are going totally portable and away from a charging source, you might want to temporarily disable those Venty charge options, to regain the 100% charge!

BTW: You mentioned capsules…. Try the titanium ones I’ve recommended in this thread a few times…

Thanks for the info! I'll just keep my fingers crossed in regards to the random error codes, and I'll check out those titanium caps, sounds pretty interesting
