I didn't like using a torch native as it seemed kinda weird shooting a jet flame srtaight at your face. I did however master using the torch when I dropped the coil into my bubbler. The coil works best with a water toy IMO. It drops natively into a 14mm or 18mm piece so it's really convenient to not have to fuss with adapters.Does anyone have any tips for using it with a torch? I've been using mine with a bic and other off brand soft flame lighters and I'm worried it will combust easily using a torch.

I sometimes am embarrassed to admit I still use a Vapor Genie Aluminum. Not just occasionally either. Yes , you can combust, but refining the skill is rewarded with as hard a hit as I can handle.
get 3mm glass beads, and place 3 of them with an screen, under the heat exchanger. you'll like it with a torch. 3-4 hits to complete the bowl, amazing taste and control.Hi All - Just wanted to thank everyone for the good info in this thread. I have tried so many vapes (firewood, firefly, haze, buddha... the list goes on). Turns out the simplest is what I needed. After lots of reading and research, I ordered the Bronze Sherlock. Man, I love this thing! Love that it reminds me of when I used to smoke from a pipe, and it feels so great to use. It's almost ritualistic and so relaxing.
Do you mean under the ceramic?get 3mm glass beads, and place 3 of them with an screen, under the heat exchanger. you'll like it with a torch. 3-4 hits to complete the bowl, amazing taste and control.
yeah. it's gonna make sure you don't combust even if you lose focus for 2-3 seconds...Do you mean under the ceramic?
This reminds me of when I was a kid and I made pipes out of door stop springs with a screen. My Vapor Genie Steel Coil Was actually my first analog vape.
Had it for a coupla years now, and still performs like I just got it home and packed her for the first time.

Happy Vaping!
less than 1/2 inch of torch flame, slow to medium inhaling, don't keep the flame too close to the disk, move your hand abitI just got an aluminum classic vapor genie, and while it looks awesome, I'm struggling a little with technique. I'm using torch lighters, but I feel like I either get a mouthful of hot air but no vapor, or I get nothing and it's like I'm not drawing the heat in enough. I tried to look for vids on youtube but most of them showed a soft flame...
Am I just being too timid about getting the flame in there? Or is it a breathing thing? I'm stubborn as hell so I tried several times before just jumping to my dynavap for the night. I feel like maybe I didn't have the flame deep enough, but I was also concerned I'd be shoving it too close to the ceramic disk...
Thank you! The visual was helpful. I’ll try this tomorrow and report back.less than 1/2 inch of torch flame, slow to medium inhaling, don't keep the flame too close to the disk, move your hand abit
If you have the opportunity put the VG on top of some water pipe/j-hook. That way it will be easier to know if/when you are getting vaporI just got an aluminum classic vapor genie, and while it looks awesome, I'm struggling a little with technique. I can chip in a little on that the torch game. Essentially it seems to be that the tricky thing with this one is to get the heat distribution reasonably even. I saw a mod on here where someone had added 3ish boro beads or something underneath the ceramic disc with a screen. I initially tried that with my hand-carved, but it was a bit meh. I then bought a whole bunch 3mm stainless steel balls (dirt cheap on amazon as bottle cleaners) and added an entire layer underneath the disc. Works a charme, you need to keep the flame moving pretty quick and draw circles, with a 1.5-2ish cm flame at the rough height of the intake. Super fast production, pretty even roasting. Oh also, the magic flight wooden stems with the pipe stem, looks quite nice and prevents you from going cross-eyed whilst trying to maneuver the flame.
