I really like the VG with 3 beads under the SiC (with a filter to hold them) it gives much better taste. Although it's hard to microdose with the VG, maybe some capsule will help. S&B or another. Great clouds anyway with this device.

I've had a glass VG for several years. If I need a big, quick boost I crumble some hash on top of a bed of flower. Uses up lighters really fast. Pretty great in a power outage!

By the way, if you break the large or small part of the glass VG, the Vaporgenie website will sell a replacement. I ended up replacing both parts this way after dropping first the one, then the other.

I'm a fan of the Glass Sherlock. I use it frequently, but it is a vape for plentiful times. Not a conservation appliance. It really shines as the device I use to take ABV a few steps darker than I normally take a load.

I bought a coil a few months ago and I'm loving it. Hits like a bat for me each time and produces a good cloud of vapor with each hit I take.

Does anyone have any tips for using it with a torch? I've been using mine with a bic and other off brand soft flame lighters and I'm worried it will combust easily using a torch.

I didn't like using a torch native as it seemed kinda weird shooting a jet flame srtaight at your face. I did however master using the torch when I dropped the coil into my bubbler. The coil works best with a water toy IMO. It drops natively into a 14mm or 18mm piece so it's really convenient to not have to fuss with adapters.

Excellent points, as usual. Hard to concentrate while staring down the flame in front of your nose. Half a million years of evolution kick in. "Fire bad" is deep in our genetics (right next to fear of falling and loud noises). Such fear is normal and a good thing really. I found spacing it out with a piece of tube or the tube from a roll of paper towels removes the fear enough to stay on topic. Easier to deal with when it's further out and the fire is pointed in a different direction. And it cures the 'getting hot in the hand' part. Coil is a compromise that adds some minor issues to deal.

For those same sorts of reasons my favorite VG is the big bronze one. The fire is 'over there, pointed down' and the mass of cold metal works with you, not against you.

Regards to all.

you consider the big bronze one as a device for sippers or for clouds chasers?

Not being a cloud chaser, I have no advice here. I hope you understand. FWIW it should, in theory, be the best of the breed since the heat exchanger/ load part is common and the metal mass and stem length should improve on that?

I sometimes am embarrassed to admit I still use a Vapor Genie Aluminum. Not just occasionally either. Yes , you can combust, but refining the skill is rewarded with as hard a hit as I can handle.

Guilty as well, but I too sure don't want to be seen doing so in public. I ended up with a spare bowl when I bought another for my Big Bronze one, and that stem was on sale, and I had a CC handy.......

Regards to all.

Hi All - Just wanted to thank everyone for the good info in this thread. I have tried so many vapes (firewood, firefly, haze, buddha... the list goes on). Turns out the simplest is what I needed. After lots of reading and research, I ordered the Bronze Sherlock. Man, I love this thing! Love that it reminds me of when I used to smoke from a pipe, and it feels so great to use. It's almost ritualistic and so relaxing.

I picked up a brass zippo and torch insert to match :-)

get 3mm glass beads, and place 3 of them with an screen, under the heat exchanger. you'll like it with a torch. 3-4 hits to complete the bowl, amazing taste and control.

Do you mean under the ceramic?

I just got an aluminum classic vapor genie, and while it looks awesome, I'm struggling a little with technique. I'm using torch lighters, but I feel like I either get a mouthful of hot air but no vapor, or I get nothing and it's like I'm not drawing the heat in enough. I tried to look for vids on youtube but most of them showed a soft flame...

Am I just being too timid about getting the flame in there? Or is it a breathing thing? I'm stubborn as hell so I tried several times before just jumping to my dynavap for the night. I feel like maybe I didn't have the flame deep enough, but I was also concerned I'd be shoving it too close to the ceramic disk...

less than 1/2 inch of torch flame, slow to medium inhaling, don't keep the flame too close to the disk, move your hand abit

If you have the opportunity put the VG on top of some water pipe/j-hook. That way it will be easier to know if/when you are getting vapor

I can chip in a little on that the torch game. Essentially it seems to be that the tricky thing with this one is to get the heat distribution reasonably even. I saw a mod on here where someone had added 3ish boro beads or something underneath the ceramic disc with a screen. I initially tried that with my hand-carved, but it was a bit meh. I then bought a whole bunch 3mm stainless steel balls (dirt cheap on amazon as bottle cleaners) and added an entire layer underneath the disc. Works a charme, you need to keep the flame moving pretty quick and draw circles, with a 1.5-2ish cm flame at the rough height of the intake. Super fast production, pretty even roasting. Oh also, the magic flight wooden stems with the pipe stem, looks quite nice and prevents you from going cross-eyed whilst trying to maneuver the flame.

Just so I can better picture this-you raised the ceramic disc slightly, and put the balls under it with the screen under that, so the order would be opening, coil holding the disc, steel balls, screen, and then all that screwed over the bowl?
