With my Olivewood v2 in transit, with anticipation high (this will be my first Vapman experience) I'm wondering if those who collect these find that the different woods in part a different flavor? Or is one more or less like another?

If there are nuances, what about Olive? The Olive wood is beautiful, as are many/all of the woods used.

I don't taste much difference between them except for a slightest flavor from an Olive mouthpiece and a slight sweetness from the Grenadil. Mostly the differences are the heat levels they maintain due to density.

With different wood species behaving differently re heat retention? Subtle differences, more than subtle?

Yes, not really in terms of taste so much except the grenadill, its gets more noticeable. Some, especially the grenadill and the kotibe, I think, can get hard to handle later in a very complete session. Oddly, the temperature is also very different depending on what part of the grain you're holding.

There's thought that denser ones work better because of the heat retention but it's hard to say if that's supported. Seems a little counter-intuitive to me given the air-gap, but some of mine that do retain more heat also 'work better.' I suspect that air intake rate, station fitment, etc, play a role.

So collecting these doesn't happen purely because they all look so pretty? LOL

For me it's almost entirely because they all look so pretty: I'm a huge fan of the aesthetic differences in wood colors and grains.

I've been using the Zebrano set from Inhale almost exclusively since I bought it. All my other models are eye candy (and well worth it even as display pieces).

I mostly use an Italian Applewood Classic that I hunted down after passing up a chance to make it my first when it went on sale as a limited edition. I have a few others but most of them are unused, aside from a Swiss walnut Endless Knot pure. My very first was a Swiss walnut classic that was so faintly branded you probably wouldn't notice it unless you knew it was there.

I have only 1, a kotibe classic (or is it the pure with the mica? I always get confused). I actually don't love this vape, but I do like it. Honestly it's a little slow for me, I like a much faster session, and usually a bigger bowl, mostly but I will use it occasionally when I have time and the desire to relax into a longer session. I do find myself longing for other wood types occasionally and wouldn't be surprised if I eventually pick up another 1 or 2 at some point, even though they won't get used very often. They are lovely devices to hold, the curves feel great to my fingertips.

I mainly use the Olive Italian v1 and satin v2, both butane and station. The others are just cause they are so lovely :D So thank you @coolbreeze for all the details on those different woods ;)
These little pieces of wood have such a character, and in that I find them quite unique :)
The two I use both have Mica, but it is said that those without can have a little taste or smell, but I couldn’t confirm.

I have them mostly for the wood variety, too. I use them all, some at home or with the station only, most either way. There are a couple that I prefer if I'm going thru a waterpipe because they seem a little more aggressive, etc. They differ enough to have personalities, sort of.

i use all of mine too … i’m always amazed at how good these little devices are at delivering the goods … and they are all so unique yet the same

i also like the ritual involved … very relaxing

i don’t have a station … i’m torch only with both pures and the classics (with mica)!

was yew part of the "normal" releases? i found this in a local growshop.. the owner had it buried behind a wall of fertilizer and he told me it was their normal stock when they had more vape stuff in their repertoire...

I am not sure, but is the Mica on the italian V1 also screwed or glued?
I only got italian V1 ones in Pure, so I can not tell for sure.

anyone has an idea which wood i got here?
could it be that the dealer has had the good piece in stock for about 10 years?

Does this vapman feel surprisingly light and yet stable?

Could it be that the grain iridesces slightly in the sun, that it shimmers slightly trippy in the light?

If so, it could be an Australian silky oak. René made a series with this wood a decade ago, unfortunately I didn't have the money for it at the time, but the pieces are super beautiful!

that could be totally the case.. he said its been there for ages. he was very amused that somebody asked for it :D and indeed it feels very light and stable... cannot say its iridescent but it definitely looks pretty trippy. and the picture you sent looks exactly like the grain of this piece!

i am blown away!

Hello :)

I ordered the station, but now I have a doubt, does it also work with Swiss vaporizers, from Rene?

Because I see on Troy and Jerry's site, on their review that it is only compatible with Italian vapmans.
Not sure why they are saying that to be honest, it's not true. All the Vapmans work on both the Black and Green stations, and I assume the Blue. I use my Swiss VMs on the Green station and they work perfectly. The Italian models also work perfectly on the Black station.

What they may be talking about is early on, when people were noticing a need to adjust some stations, the Swiss VMs mostly worked fine but the Italian models would sometimes brush the wall and not seat perfectly. To the best of my recollection, my Italian models have all worked on the black station without need for adjustment.

In any case, don't regret your purchase. If you do run into a fitment issues you'll find plenty of help here.

Edit: Just verified, less-than-Pure Swiss walnut Endless Knot on the olive station works just fine! Cheers!
