Stainless would be fine, allergen-wise, for my friend.

If titanium allergies were a non-issue, any pro/cons of steel vs titanium?

And what about wood vs metal mouthpieces? There is something organically pleasing about wood. Is the wood mouthpiece a maintenance/cleaning nightmare or is it a good choice for the Vapman? Choices.

Unless I missed something, the PotV vapman products are sold out. Too bad as I have some credits to use.

Did I miss something???

Wood is the ideal choice for aesthetic and performance in my opinion. Dissipates heat the best and it fits with the overall style of the device: avoiding plastics.

It just requires more careful maintenance than the others since you can't just drop it in ISO for a soak.

As for steel vs. titanium here's the major differences: Titanium is lighter, stronger (usually), and transfers heat faster and easier than stainless steel.

Steel is a little heavier, that's all. It's all fine!

I like both. Metal is definitely easier with cleaning.

I agree although I've always loved the plastic too. The POM is not currently made for V2s, but I think there's a couple different woods now.

I think I'm drawn towards the wood, despite the extra maintenance. Maybe. Do the mouthpieces tend to need a lot of cleaning?

Or perhaps I should consider one of each? Or not.

The extra weight of steel should be an non-issue under the circumstances.

I guess I'm wondering if the wood is a major hassle for cleaning, or not. I love the look of the wood. But...

I'm beginning to glean that POM is plastic? Plastic Original Mouthpiece, perhaps?

But POM? What's that??

I don't favor wood over other materials because it sticks easily to the lips. Especially after a few bowls and you start to have dry mouth. (Don't forget to drink water as you vape).
Cleaning wood is really straightforward though : deep soak in pure acetone for a few minutes in a closed jar with gentle shaking from time to time and then let it dry. Acetone will evaporate fully.

Edit : if you can find a glass mouthpiece, get one.

Hmm. Unforseen problem. I'm chemically to acetone. Is that the sole way to keep wood mouthpieces clean?

Glass, metal, even POM mouthpieces re-enter consideration. Love the idea of wood. Acetone is a no go for me.

I have many wood vapes, mouthpieces, bowls, and pipes. I keep them very clean and I never use acetone. I use wood wax only.

As for vapman mouthpieces, I like POM first, glass second and wood least. Metal can get a bit hot but keeps a better flavor than the woods I've used with my vapmans. This is different from most of my other vapes where I typically prefer wood and glass.

I happen to love using wood wax. A bit of a "thing" with me actually. LOL

So wood is back-in-the-game on that front; however, you don't seem to rate it highly.

Where do you rank the metal relative to wood, glass, or POM?

I'm definitely a flavor-chaser (all the way) and--when not in emotional distress, LOL--I tend towards microdosing.

Flavor is a critical factor for this guy. Wood is just so huggable.

Are they rare now? They are great

I'd always drop some pure 99% ethanol on these woolen pipe cleaners and rub it down several times on the inside. Twice a months or more if daily use. All wooden mouthpieces I have look pretty good years later.

I don't know how it is available (as I thought it was illegal here in CA?) but a certain supermarket chain here in Los Angeles sells a 192 Proof/96% neutral spirit from Armenia called Vedi Alco Spiritus that I use to make extractions. And I have a large supply of pipe cleaners.

So I'm covered on the cleaning front.

I'm only afraid I may acquire Mouthpiece Acquisition Syndrome. LOL

The beauty of the all wood set up is hard to deny.

maybe some of you remember that museum piece i acquired a few days ago.

i tried a little to restore this beauty and this is how far i came until today.

i am still not satisfied with the mica part and the wood condition at the spring edges but i am hesitant to get more aggressive on that part due to the possibility of the mica getting damaged. what do you think? any advice to give it a little more of its beauty back?

For the most part I either use the Inhale glass mouthpiece, which is longer than the stock mouthpiece and provides some cooling, or, with the addition of a DynaBox adapter (though it is titanium,) a Glass Charlie Dynavap stem.

Thanks for the info.

I personally have no issues with titanium and as long as I know what's what--especially on swappable parts--I can avoid exposing my buddy.

I appreciate the mentions of these options. I'll check them out.

Vapman products seem like they are in pretty short supply.

But the glass stems are not deep enough to reach/block the V2 midsection's air intake, so it can only be used wide-open with full dilution. Unless they've also updated those?

Edit: But the glass Water Pipe Adapters do fit the V2 midsections, fwiw.

So, torch users - I want to talk about heating technique. So far my torch technique has been to focus the Vapman lighter flame on the tip of the wok exclusively. I change up the heat levels by either using a bushier flame (which transfers heat to a larger surface area of the wok), using a longer/ bigger flame, or by applying heat for a longer time.

It just occurred to me, I've seen many pictures of scorched Vapmans, so I wonder if there are other heating techniques I dont know about, using butane (not the plug in Vapman heater)

For example, do some people deliberately heat their woks from the outside edge in? Spiralling towards the centre? Does this produce any different effects? Does the toasting happen at a different rate? Are triple torches ever appropriate? Do you ever use unorthodox heating methods?

I know I can try all these things for myself, but I thought I'd ask around to guide my experiments.

Hopefully they'll make one for the V2. An adjustable one would be really sweet.
They have unfortunately confirmed that it's not possible for them to do the new mouthpiece design in glass.

I would also have really liked to have that option, it's probably my favorite one to use with old Vapmans. Well, that one and POMs... (Yes, I'm bitter.)

I wonder if something might be improvised from a piece of thin glass tube, cut at an angle? And maybe sanded to a flat tip at both ends? Do the old MFLB glass mouthpieces still exist (edit: Yes, they do) and might those fit/be worth modding?

I think I recall back in this thread someone putting it on the Swiss vapman. I think it fit
