Vapman

I take a tiny amount and pull it into an inch+ long strip, fold it in half around a rice+ sized glob, and smear it as much as possible into the wool, flattening it and getting as much surface area as possible, and then sort of roll or fold it into your DV, etc. I haven't tried it with a Vapman so I'm not sure but it works well in a basket screen, etc, so ought to work ok. There's usually too little wool to affect airflow.

I have some, but found it destroyed the airflow on every vape I tried it with. Is it the same with the Vapman? How arm you doing it? Are you wrapping the extract, or putting a thin layer of wool on the bowl and just putting the extract on top?
I wrap 2-3 small pieces of hash into a very thin layer of degummed hemp fibre.
If the heating chamber isn’t packed to tight, there should‘t be much more restriction of the airflow.
My Vm 2.0 has the smaller heating chamber with the well matching screen, which i prefer to use. But i compared it to vape wool, to figure out what works best and leaves the least mess. 😅
I haven‘t tried concentrates in my Vapman, but it should work. I would recommend a more thick layer of vape wool.
Anyways i reach for my glass piece, banger and torch, when i do concentrates.

So if I pick up another click, in a nice finished wood choice. Would it be wise to not wax/oil the wooden midsection? As I could expect atleast some charring?

Hey friends,

I came across FC late in my vaping journey but since then, I've been thinking continuously to the various ways we use to heat our favorite flower. Numerous drawings and sketchs went to the trash early. Most of them were too costly to prototype or their function was too uncertain to take the risk. It was mostly a (highly) compulsive behavior that makes my wife laugh at me and my stoners hobby...

The vapman have been my first vaporizer and a companion for more than a decade. It is the one that made me quit smoking definitely and more importantly it taught me to enjoy the flower in more pure and refined ways. I've always seen the vapman as a perfectly crafted and designed device. It's probably why my high compulsions never brought me to think around this device… until the advent of the click.

With the vapman click, Michael and David broke a taboo. They opened my mind about the possibility of modifications. I realize now how clear it is that the first work I'm sharing with you is about the vapman. But the OG remains untouchable, only the click is the subject of the modification I'd like to present to this board...

Although I will never pretend to have close to René's skills, I hope I didn't betrayed the essence of the vapman, designed and masterfully crafted like a piece of jewelry. Staying true to the vapman roots, this device has been modified in the Alps.

My wife is still laughing btw…

Sorry if this is obvious but what's the functional purpose of this mod? Looks great by the way!

This is so cool. Well done!

Edit: I just realized it matches the PH Lotus cap!

Thank you 🙏🏻
And don't be sorry, it is probably not obvious and I was going to talk about it.

As @passenger guessed, the mod is first and foremost aesthetic. It's still a vapman. :) I've always seen the vapman as something close to jewelry tradition and craftsmanship, I wanted to emphasize this aspect.

It does impact the function but not dramatically. Let me explain.

There's a point in almost all my vapman's sessions where the device is at its cruising temperature and, especially with the click, I cannot take a 20 seconds hit without choking on hot vapor. I find myself enjoying taking two, maybe three, shorter hits before reheating. I wanted to extend that temperature window allowing to toke like if it was a pipe.

The gem is a sapphire so it makes the bowl heavier and it somehow retain heat for longer. I won't call it a thermal battery but more of a heat buffer. In practice you have to apply more heat, more aggressively especially for the first hit, but when it's going it's going ! I can take up to 5 satisfying tokes before I need to reheat.
Once it's cruising you don't need to be that much agressive with the torch and I found myself riding the line of combustion more easily.

Of course you need calories to heat the gem, so this mod defeat the incredible fuel efficiency of the vapman. But so does the click in regard to the OG.
Be aware that the discs are now completely off. With the mod they click once, then I drive manually the whole sesh and it click back when I empty the bowl. (Except when I'm greedy and taking too much hits, it can click back before the end.)

All in all it's still a vapman, with a slightly modified heating curve and probably less reheats over the whole sesh'.

He has single-handedly redefined the ball vape. All others must now be known as balls vapes.

Kudo! 🫡
You're too kind my friend. Let's call it a gem vape if you will... ;) others have pioneered this way before, as strange as it may look, I think Vapvana has a lot to do with this vapman modification.

How does it work with the Station?

It is very beautiful...we can order different gems? A ruby? Are you taking orders? How will you sell them? Will this be only for CLICK?

Gorgeous...love it.

Thank you @Dr. G ;)

I will only use lab created corundum at the moment. Blue and white sapphire, red ruby and orange padparadscha.

This is probably the only one I'll make with an Antwerp rose cut gem. The other will be modified brillant cut (although I like the hexagonal table, the round table and higher pavilion gives a little more mass).

This will be only for the click as I don't see myself modifying an OG pan and it probably won't fit the station. Or if it fits the higher mass of the bowl will makes it impossible for the station to power it conveniently.

If people are interested they can send me a message. Price is not set yet as I try to reduce the cost of the gem (which is custom cut) and will depend on if you want a complete unit, just a heating element or if you want to modify a vapman you already have.
