Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud

This, plus I can't see additional generic adapters being more than like $20 each, so the cost of having a few extras isn't a big deal anyway...

but

...nobody is suggesting we use this approach for the Cloud. Most plugpak adapters will balk at squeezing 200W of low-voltage DC over a skinny cable. I just mentioned it as the cheapest approach to making a world-compatible appliance. The VXL products use an internal power supply, so I mentioned that approach last.

Also, the additional cost of an internal switchmode supply should be insignificant, and more than offset by the convenience of inventory management and global marketing it provides. It's just that it's probably not even an option for this gen anyway, due to the DC/AC thing. Maybe the mysterious "Higher Primate" will use DC internally?

I'm gonna bet VXL would prefer to have one unit to rule them all :)

Not trying to be arrogant or so but the time of NA only voltage machine is so over!
A lifetime of using stepdowns has to end! :)

All my life I had electronics from the US even tho I live far far away.

I was so sure for some reason that the LSV was universal so I end up killing the fuse one minute after its arrival and then another 1 month turnaround until I got a proper machine...

Power brick FTW

I live in the UK and both my Solo and Flashvape chargers work with a straight up plug adapter, no power brick (is it a transformer?) to be seen. Couldn't such a thing be possible with a cloud?

That is due to internal battery being the power supply.
With my solo I have a power adapter which is a power brick and it overrides the battery usage.

It sounds like if the Eagle is to be smart about voltage it would have to be delayed, so how about the dumb version for us Americans and the smart version for the rest of the civilized world?

That seems to be how many things are evolving anyways these days... :2c:

They are releasing two versions, so it will be interesting to see what vxc decides and if it delays anything. It seems like the best idea may be to release the na version on schedule, and give international customers the option of dealing with na voltage or waiting for the international voltage version.

My concern is that with a removable cord bringing full ac voltage in from the wall outlet, that it may be safety-critical to make that outlet ground-fault protected when using water accessories:

What do you guys think?

My guess is they will have 2 versions (U.S. & Iternational) of the Eagle just like the Cloud. Dual voltage would mean a complete redesign of the circuit board to add the transformer. VXL mentioned a new heater, updated software & bamboo for faster heat up time, but never mentioned a complete redesign of the internals.

Most people seem to confuse an American company's intentions on releasing US versions first then later a international version. The reason they do this is usually to iron out any bugs and make sure they have a support system in place for warranty repair & service. It is not because a 220v model is harder to produce.

Just been catching up on the forum. sorry to hear about your cloud mvapes... I use a Solo as a replacement with the planetvape.ca bowl to 18mm. it works pretty good. not as good as a cloud though but its an easy fill-in.

[ignore me]
I think I will jump on the indigogo for $250 as I already have a cloud. Just my opinion but I don't like the name "Eagle"... Cloud is light and cool and relates to the nature of the device. That gets lost with "Eagle". Maybe an all white bird... something like Vapexhale Swan, or Vapexhale Ptarmigan. Hell, Vapexhale Booby (jk). :) anyway, just wanted to get that off my chest. Swan is nice because they have a long neck, analog to the hydratube. and keep the device black and then that makes "Swan" even more cool. :)
[/ignore me]

My upgraded Cloud+ is working well. I do find a couple of differences: the ELB gets quite hot at 2 o'clock. it will start vaping out of the top of the ELB due to convection. My previous Cloud didn't do that. Also it creates residue inside the GonG, again my previous Cloud didn't do that. But over-all I prefer the Cloud+.

Hope you get your Cloud sorted out mvapes... you might just want to dig in and try and fix it.

They've pretty-much confirmed there will be two versions, and implied they'll be simultaneous. Hopefully next time it will be just one, and we won't need to worry about any gaps/delays/differences with the US v.s. International product. They've really only developed one model, but it uses either a 110V US supply or a 230V "International" supply, installed accordingly. I don't know how these react to 50-60Hz supply frequencies, whether they convert or pass them through, but being analog the Cloud probably doesn't care much. I wonder if running it on 50Hz AC instead of US 60Hz will "underclock" the heating algorithm sampling rate by 17%? :p

There are significant internal differences, with the new bamboo and insulation design. We've been told there's an updated algorithm, but it's not clear whether this is just a software change or involves new PCBs and/or board components. I've never gotten a definitive answer on whether the Eagle is all-analog like the Cloud, but from what I've pieced together from comments, I'm like 99% sure it is, so it may indeed still use the old boards and supply electronics. Virtually all the other parts seem different, though.

The reason they do this is usually to iron out any bugs and make sure they have a support system in place for warranty repair & service. It is not because a 220v model is harder to produce.

Thing is, even if you were developing just one uni-voltage model, you could still do a limited test release to the US market, then expand afterwards. The only differences are that you don't need to maintain two product SKUs, manufacturing lines, packaging, etc. Warranty and service support is also cheaper and easier for the parent company when only dealing with one product model.

Also, if early adopters outside the US want to try the unit during its limited release, they easily can, as opposed to being "locked out" like with the original Cloud release. That was a fun time. :c

Why add MORE WEIGHT to the cord and bulk to it?
If that weight and bulk isn't in an external box, it has to go in the vape itself instead. It can't just disappear. Wouldn't you rather it be downstream of some slack cable where you don't even feel it, as opposed to hanging off the GonG joint of your water piece? An AC cable is thicker, stiffer and more unwieldy than a low-voltage DC one, too.

But there's no way they'll retro-fit the Eagle to run from a plugpak, nor would anyone want them to, so there's no need to campaign so hard against it. This whole discussion is about making the internal supply uni voltage (which may have to wait for a DC model if theres no analog parts that'll work).

Lets keep this sleek and looking nice! If they have a heater that can accept 120-240, then you would just need a different end plug on a cord.
If the model had a standard removable cable, like a PC power lead, or those two pin ones you see going into boomboxes and cheap home electronics and stuff, then you wouldn't even have to bother with plug adapters. You'd probably already even have the needed cables spare in your house somewhere.

I guess the reason why I am not worried about dual voltage is that I want to see the Eagle surpass the Cloud in reliability, I hate seeing all the dead Cloud posts. I just have a fear that with the heat the Cloud puts out combined with the heat of a transformer might lead to more problems.

I have a feeling that many of the premature Cloud deaths might have been caused by excessive heat, but this is just a hunch.

I wish the VXL nothing but the best and I hope they keep the Eagle as simple as possible to avoid any new problems.

Excessive heat and substandard solder is a bad combination, hp had to give me a new laptop once because of that issue. Only in that case the substandard solder was a (failed) attempt at being environmentally sensitive, I doubt that is the case with the vxh+ or whatever it's called these days.

grokit,
Hello VXHFormists:

I thought I would relay the interaction between me and support for my situation. I own
a cloud + the 150 dollar upgrade to the cloud+ and 2 year warranty.

ToSupport: Let us say that I had a cloud and I did not buy the upgrade. I could
for 250 dollars turn this cloud into an
Eagle. It seems that there also could be some way to move from my cloud +
upgrade to an Eagle campaign wise.

From Support: We can put the $150 trade in towards the $250 trade in tier. All you would need to do is contribute an additional $100 through our Indiegogo page. Please verify the email address you will be contributing under, and we will add you to the trade in list.

ToSupport: What level of contribution do I choose Fashonista? from the gogo page.

From Support: Yes sir, just donate to the fashionista tier! Thank you again for all the support!

ToSupport: I have donated 100 dollars at the fashionista tier in order to be at the $250 trade in tier.
I used email address MonsterWithoutBordersOrSOmethingLikeThatAtthe@gmail.com

FromSupport: Thank you again for your contribution! Our records now include you in the Fanatic tier, as well as the Nimbus/Cloud trade in tier. Please let us know if you have any additional questions or inquiries.

Using the new contribution (tierless contribution) would work for sure. I think Support needs
to know and orchestrate what you do so all is clear.

Doles the recent upgrade mean--for example--that those of us that had previously contributed at the $500 level now get a t-shirt or is that just for new contributors?

Also what about access to the announced second color option, will that be available to us?

I did something similar - I had done the $250 trade-in, but when I saw the new Swagger would have a turbine (I LOVE turbines) I donated another $250 and emailed StoneMonkey to make sure I was on the $500 "Nimbus [still doesn't say Eagle] Early Bird". Was easy to do.

Wow that was weird, it must have been a dream or something. I could have sworn I read an announcement that the $500 level was now getting a t-shirt included in the package.

Sorry guys, wishful thinking I guess :o

Yeah VapeXhale has now hit the original goal of 75k! Baldy says that he wishes he could get the SwaggerCirc to Turbine Hydratube as he loves his vapor hydrated. Cmon and get VapeXhale over 100k!

I also wanted to share this info about a local SF Bay Area Eagles at Crystal Springs. The first time that there have been a new born in nearly 100 years there and the fled-ling is learning to fly now!

http://www.mercurynews.com/san-mate...chick-discovered-at-crystal-springs-reservoir

Keep on Soaring VapeXhale and the Eagle fly to the Clouds!

I was at Delta in Lakehead, CA swimming the other day and I saw a huge eagle that looked just like that in the trees. I pointed it out and it took off so everyone noticed it. Wish I wasn't in the water or I would have got a picture of it.

Hi Troi, is it still possible to contribute? I hope that I can get the founds at the end of July...
But I hesitate it's a very good deal that you have done but my Cloud+ work fine and I spent lot of money last month to get my Cloud+, my XP and my FW.
I'm thinking about to contribute, difficult choice, is it still possible to contribute for the 250$ perk?
