Isn't that dangerous? Alcohol and heat?

Took one elb out of a bowl of iso and salt 6 hours later, and much cleaner but still quite a bit of stuff on it. And left the other one in overnight, will look in on it, but last I looked, along with the elb I took out, seemed like they were not really getting cleaned past a certain point. Thought it would be much faster.

I put enough iso to cover the elbs, do I need to put far more? Is this why it is not cleaning that well? How long until it is like new?

I soak them for a few hours once in ISO, clean out the remaining dissolved gunk with some of these brushes

https://www.amazon.com/Hummingbird-Feeder-Cleaning-Brushes-Little/dp/B00W2DEIV0

and after I have most of the gunk out, I soak them again in another batch of ISO to do a secondary cleaning, and then I brush off the rest off. I have found this helps them look almost new again.

Get yourself a thin bottle brush. That will gently remove everything after a good ISO soak.

Hot water after an iso soak should be just fine to clean the ELBs IME. The heated alcohol probably would achieve similar results, I'm guessing. I usually end up soaking mine overnight but it can be an hour or two easily. Then a hot water rinse has them like new.

Those little test-tube brushes, as mentioned above, are great for cleaning the ELBs out in between cleanings. Something similar to these:

The reason it's not cleaning well is because you're not heating up the ISO.

Seems safe to me. I do it all the time. I even get the ISO to slightly bubble. No issues.

Edit: using this method, my ELB's are brand new in less than 5 minutes. Sometimes I run 2 cycles if the ELB is really caked.

Strange as just a ten minute soak and running under cold water bring mine up really clean. I do have 6 though and rotate them and clean regularly (twice a week).

Well, I guess you are not getting it hot enough for it to be dangerous. but I think if it gets to hot it would explode or catch fire? If I gently warm it, I guess it will be fine.

TGIF! Two announcements for this lovely Friday.

International Customers, we have hired an additional engineering firm to help us resolve the 220V issue. Because of the length of time it has taken, we are going to send ALL of you guys 110V units (just keep your existing 220 whether it works or not), a 300 watt 110-220 converter, 1 EVO heat shield (3.2 mm neoprene that International customers will get FIRST), AND (that's not all) $50 in store credit (ELBs, VapeXNails, credit towards a HydraTube). When the 220s are out, you can keep using your 110V with power converter OR you can send it back to your local partner of VapeXhale and they can exchange your 110 for a 220. Feel free to email support@vapexhale.com if you have any more questions.

4/20 announcement - We will be in Denver in the Swagger Glass booth and if any of you guys are in the San Francisco Bay Area, I will be at one of SF's premier dispensaries, Igzactly420 on Sunday from 12-5pm. Come visit us and try the new VapeXNail!

Man the VXN is working sooooooo good http://instagram.com/p/m7-AhrFSxy/

Who exactly is this? Seibo Shen has repeatably said, FROM THE BEGINNING, do not use converters/inverters with this unit because it could be dangerous. And some trying this have had problems. Thats why they made an international version in the first place. Its electronics are quite different from US EVO and it took a while to get it right. If you choose to pursue this course do it at your own risk.

Hey, well using resin i've completely gunked up my ELBs :p
i've been soaking them today, and scraping at the inside with a pointy metal stick.. upgrading to a test tube brush sounds like a good plan.
Man, the resin just melts into the mesh - it's really tough to get off.
Isn't that dangerous? Alcohol and heat?
I'm also wandering about this - i believe it's only a problem if you use a gas stove / naked flame.. however i don't know how important ventilation is when heating iso.

@gaseous_clay is that a Jyarz i spot? ^^
They're perfect for holding ELBs when not in use.

How high would you recommend filling an ELB with resin for optimal vapor production?
I've currently been putting in about ~100mg or less, and then getting about 10 + hits off of it - i've noticed putting in more gives me bigger, denser hits.
EDIT: Wow, just loaded the elb with about twice as much as usual = Clouds

A vibrating high/low pressure zone should extract better than just free flowing air imho.
Someone mentioned earlier - I've found the whistle to be quite helpful: just underneath it (breathing less) is where i can actually feel the vapor on the inhale. I also feel the vapor on the whistle, but it's too loud for me.. : just under the whistle gives the same hit as on but without noise.

You're not really supposed to put concentrate directly in the ELB. It could leak out into your bamboo and as you mentioned, quickly gunk up the ELB.

Use the VX nails for concentrate.

Sandwiches work in the ELB too.

I experimented last night - @herbivore21 told me about a mod: slice an s&b Mighty concentrate pad in half, stuff one half carefully into the bottom of an elb, load concentrate and sandwich with the other half of the SS wool.

Flavor of concentrate this way is superb. Light years ahead of the glass nails. Just need to nail down the process - it's a slight challenge to carefully get the SS pads into the ELB.

@sundrk - Seibo did that as a last resort because the International EVOs were over a year late and the few that had gone out had malfunctioned. International customers by this time were in full revolt and rightfully so. This remedy was not something he wanted to do but it was the only choice at the time to help heal the situation. Using an improper voltage supply will void the warranty.

Bamboos are hand crafted glass and therefore they are all different. You will get whatever the repair guy happens to grab off the shelf.

I see, well my new EVO whistles less than my friends EVO...nevertheless I can't really tell them apart... ;)
I'm using my new EVO slightly different than I used my colder "old" EVO.

Honeycomb HT has finally landed! This thing is my favorite forsure. The bomb is great and I'm using it for VapCap hits and dabs with my bomb base but this honeycomb is a dream by its self on top of the Evo. Just a little restriction and so much percolation! It lets me take bigger hits than my stereo matrix bubbler and I can sit on the couch and use the Evo in style with the HT on top. It also makes the bomb base milk up a little more because of the resistance it provides  couldn't be happier.

Going to send out that turbine today @stonemonkey55 Thank you for the help and I'm glad I have gotten to do water tests with all 3 of your current hydratubes now. Even if it was because of a mistake lol. My car is taking a shit but that tube is boxed up ready to go. I am waiting for a ride to the post office now, if not today I will get it out tomorrow just so it can at least be on its way next week. Thanks again for the speedy responses and all the help man. Your the best and I love all of my VXL stuff so much!! Keep up the awesome work, can't wait to see more VapeXhale technology on the market
Cheers FC
Stay vaped

@waxdab23 Maybe new smaller pads for the dosing capsules would fit easier?
About 1mm less in diameter than Mighty/Crafty pads. I could mail you one.
I will try the capsule concentrate pads in the elbs and report back thanks!
-edit: the mighty pads are too wide to fit in the elbs unfortunately!

I've been taking the evo over to my friends house lately.
She has a lot of dry wax crumbles and it's amazing. Just like taking a titanium dab.

But healthier I assume... I assume it's still vaporizing and not combustion.
I've tried using the gunk from my reclaimer but it's not quote the same.. much wetter and doesn't burn the same in the glass nail but it still hits.

When you guys are using wax hits with the nail - I wait til it starts fuming, watching as i pull clouds through the whip from my evo. When the clouds stop pulling and can't be seen anymore thats when i assume the wax is dead and I let it burn off clean before round 2. while it burns clean there are fumes that rise up and I tell my friend that it isn't wasted wax, it's an after burn

I put just enough shatter for about 3 draws. Size about like a grain of rice, maybe smaller. Usually after that it's pretty funky tasting. Then I turn the heat up to burn the rest off the nail.

Funny thing...I keep forgetting to give the nail a go and try taking some dabs from my evo. When I originally bought this I thought fuck yeah...I can take legitimate dabs off this. Well since having the evo all I use now are flowers. This device reignited my love affair with good flowers...before buying an evo I was convinced concentrates were the end all be all. Not anymore...consequently I have discovered that flowers do a better job for my medical needs. All thanks to the evo.

Anyways...I'm fucking ripped and I plan to give this nail a go eventually. Also there's an HBO EB&D marathon on right now. Totally forgot how wildly hilarious this shit is.

Hey guy, how fine do I have to grind my herb for the Evo ?

I prefer a bit of a finer grind than average for optimal vapor extraction. I use a Sharpstone (pretty similar to the SCS grinder as far as the pattern of the teeth) and grind on its side several twists each way. It's not something that'll make or break the EVO's output, but a little finer is better, IMO.

I use a standard 4 piece grinder to tear up enough for a week or so. Same grind I use for the Solo but way less powdery than what I need for my MFLB. I would call it a 'standard' grind.

If I'm shooting for taste more than a quick buzz I'll occasionally use a method @stickstones turned me onto...... I put a few nuggs in the ELB, hit it till the flavor starts to wane, empty the ELB into my palm, pinch grind and then back into the ELB for a few more cloudy hits. What always surprises me is how a mere second or two and the ELB is cool enough to handle.

The EVO can handle whatever you throw at it in terms of grind. I haven't tried a powdery MFLB type grind or kief yet.

Hi folks. It's been a while (9 months). As some of you know, I've been dealing with a series of health issues, had my hands full. But I beat the cancer and the other stuff is slowly improving. Thank god for my EVO and potent CBD's.

I'm pleased to see old friends still here on the thread, especially of course those of us who go back to the Cloud beginning. So many new folks, though! I take that as a sign that the EVO is still holding its own in the market.

Since the above is, strictly speaking, off topic - and I don't want to be moderator spanked - I'll add to this post something I discovered about cleaning the ELB's that relates to recent discussion here about that:

Test tube brushes have been suggested. I'm using these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IUZ9AY4

You get 10 for a ~$10, will last forever.

I don't like the 6" handle (I bend it in two), but what I was looking for was 12mm (~1/2") stiff bristles. For a long time I used an in/out motion to clean, which worked OK but still left small particles in the ELB pores. Then I stumbled onto this method: Insert brush holding ELB near bottom, rotate the ELB just a little bit until you feel the tips of the bristles sticking through the ELB pores. Use this motion rotating the ELB all around, removing and reinserting the brush at a new point in the ELB - takes less than a minute. You'll find the ELB is clean, save perhaps for a few remaining particles that can be removed with a quick blow. Eventually there will be resin build-up that needs to be removed with ISO, but I am finding that I need ISO cleaning much less; probably only a quarter as often as I did before or even less.

Good to be back with the gang.
