Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud EVO

I ordered a new IR thermometer - I lost mine, think it's with my lost Pinnacle - so I can check the temp difference between the OG ticker and the EVO.

After more testing, I definitely agree with those who've pointed out that the EVO is much better with an HT than the original cloud. Really seems designed for it, and I love the EB turbine HT.

Also, on SM's advice, I turned booth units all the way to full, then compared. The vapor seems equally dense - I can;t see through either - but the EVO ABV is much more evenly cooked, and the vape tests better to the last pull.

Also, turning the EVO to 5 for 10 minutes or so, then turning it back down to my desired setting, makes its performance better. And its behavior is more predictable - the dial is more accurate. On the OG I sometimes scorch at only 2; has not happened on the EVO.

I think my OG ticker has been running hot for a while. I've been getting literally black ABV from it.

Will report more later, espec with temp comparisons. I must say, if I hadn't already had a Cloud, the EVO would be a dream come true.

Sounds like you have one of the champion OG tickers.

In terms of the evo, near-black ABV is the one thing I can not consistently get. I have the narrow temp-band firmware version Evo tho so it's 3:30 or bust. The darkest ABV I can generate is when I have nearly 'powdered' ground, very dry flowers. With super fine ground I can get the instant extraction + full spectrum.
So has mine!
I've hit two ELBs now also. Same observations. Seems to run more accurately with the stated goal of 350F at Noon (I haven't measured it, but seems closer to that temp). ELB fits better.

Mine is now whistling on both my bubbler, and the HT. Like, whistling LOUD. I think this may be related to the slight airflow change with the less restrictive bamboo? Mine just said "repair", so I am assuming that the bamboo was changed out (I never saw broken glass - but it was most likely that issue).
Wow...this is unreal.

I thought the EVO was incredible before. Now with the recalibration and (what I think is) a larger glass part, it's hitting massive. Much more efficient, yet the extra airflow allows for the biggest of rips. I'm having the smallest drag I've ever had on my chuggy pieces.
After a total of 3 full ELBs I can say that I am very pleased with the device. I won't really ramble about all of the positives that you guys know about. It is light, the extraction is superb and the build quality is excellent.

Only negative I have is that I think my EVO is running cold. I like higher temperature sessions and on max temp I get very light brown ABV. Max actually seems like about 1:30 on my Plus. I get very tasty vapor and pretty nice hits, but I cannot milk the HT or my Mobius. Also after every hit the EVO goes red and it takes about 30 seconds to a minute for it to light green again.

So it looks I'll be sending the EVO back for calibration. My ABV is noticeably more uniform than my Plus but I'm pretty sure I should be combusting on max. The unit gets me thoroughly baked but it just isn't delivering the punch I am after.

Ok that settles it, mine needs to go back for re-cal/firmware. I have the narrow power band deal, nothing at noon, nothing til 3pm

Disappointing to hear 1 of the latest EVO's received, seems to have calibration issues.

Are you letting it warm up like SM55 suggested? See a few pages back.

Warm up doesn't impact the narrow temp range units, I've tried going from cold start to warm up of 30 minutes. No real impact either way other than it needs at least 3 minutes warm up, cold start doesn't do anything.

The key issue is that the dial doesn't really do anything until you hit about 3pm, then it's 3-4pm where all the action is for what is normally 10am to close.

Pretty sure SM55 said when they test before sending out, that they test low, mid, and high spots on the dial? I understand the narrow power band glitch in the firmware, just not sure how they are making it past QC, since it should be easy to detect if there is vapor at least at 12 and MAX temp?

Those stuck in a narrow range, do you just not get any vapor on max temp?

Enchantre, you're killing me as my e-nano just arrived, but it will be months before I get an EVO lol

alright i just got it. the hydra tube is really beautiful. I'm not sure how to post pictures but its a straight neck early bird and i haven't seen one on the thread yet. the thing that surprised me the most is how small the bowl is. its way smaller then the extreme q bowl. and people say they can get medicated putting in just enough to fill the bottom? I'm kinda a lightweight so this suits me really well. it makes me not feel as bad paying outrageous prices just for a dime. so if i were to only use .025 bowls a 1.7 gram dime would last me like 68 sessions lol. and you can get like 2 or 3 drags from it? thats 136-204 drags per dime. lol it sounds too good to be true but Ill probably get a dime tonight to test it out.

Well your calling it a dime? Then you said it weighs 1.7? Which means Shwag? If so your numbers will be off.

Just got my EVO today in progress of my 1st session with it

I started it at 3 until it turned green and then dialed it back to 12 until it turned green. It gave light hits with minimal visible vapor with about a 1/2 full elb. I tried that twice and then cranked it to 3 and was getting nice thick vapor!

Definately gonna test more

well I'm not sure what terminology you use but the way I understand it is a dime is just 1.7 grams and doesn't have anything to do with quality. I think it used to be worth 10 dollars in the past (witch would make more sense) but then weed got more expensive and people just kept calling the same amount dime. I have payed as low as 20 and as much as 40 for 1.7

and yeah i do understand that higher quality flowers will produce more vapor

Bottom line is better weed vapes better. Shitty weed hardly vapes at all sometimes. And it's not just that you vape more to get there. Shitty weed doesn't have enough actives on the surface to vape effectively. I've had shwag before that only medicated when smoking. Just make sure you are using good weed when doing your math above!

well yeah I was just basing it on the reports I've seen here about people vaping small amounts. I will try to get the best quality that I can.

I thought they said all bamboo restrictions are going to be consistent in EVOs. There are probably less variations, but I still see people having abnormaly restrictive bamboos.
I hope I will finally get a low-drag one. I only had a high-drag Cloud for 200 days. And I know that if it allowed me to pull faster, its performance would shine even more.
Your experience just confirms to me that overly-restrictive bamboos also restrict the performance. Yes, it will probably still vape batter than anything, it can just be even much better!
IMO every bamboo produced should be QC'd in detail, especially measuring diameters of these restrictions and discarding abnormal ones before they can be put into the device.

Just one restriction that is tiny bit smaller then the norm can increase the drag significantly and when it happens, it can be the only dislikeable part of the VapeXhale vapor experience imo.

As I've been testing the drag of different diameters, this is what it feel like to me:

5+mm diameter: Super-low drag, imo too litttle drag for a proper Cloud performance.
3-4mm diameter: Low-mid drag, I'd love restrictions like these ony my OG Cloud bamboo.
2mm diameter: This i s what I had on my OG and the drag was mid-high. Almost making me drooling when pulling the hardest. Clouds with these still function wonderfully, but not to the full potential.
1mm diameter: Unusable, its like pulling ice-cream through a drinking straw.

The bamboo fall within a tight tolerance range. Each one is inspected as you describe. However, there was a manufacturing issue that resulted in a small number of out of spec bamboo getting by QA. That was resolved. All the units I have used have been consistent.

It is true that in-spec bamboo are slightly more restrictive compared to the Cloud OG (I can't speak to the Plus, not having had one). I noticed it by comparison my first session, but thereafter I quickly forgot about it. The performance is every bit as exceptional as my OG, if not more so. The new bamboo was redesigned to work in concert with the new heater design, so diameter differences are not a precise apple-to-apples comparison. This has resulted in some current Cloud owners, myself included, needing a little "re-learning" to adjust for the new design. But bottom line, IME the user doesn't need to pull hard at all to produce dense clouds. This was what I easily and comfortably got from my oldie lungs using the big Fanatic tube:

Yea it was on for an hour before I even took the first draw at 1 pm and I got really wispy vapor. I had a feeling something was off so I bumped it to max and let it sit for another 20 and my ABV is tan at best.

Thanks for all the heat up reminders, I had been cranking it to max and hitting as soon as green, but going to 3, then 12 and waiting the significant amount of time it takes to go green on 12 is giving me consistent vapor at 1 and 2 pm

I also notice a huge difference in vapor density with 1/4 or less full vs 1/3 or 1/2 full, I wouldn't load less than 1/3 full for satisfying hits :2c:

Yeah, the one and only time I bought crappy weed, I barely got a puff out of it. I still have nightmares about that crap.

So, apparently, I think I've proven you can pull too slow with it.
I have to pull just fast enough to initiate 'whistle' mode to get good vapor density.

Is there anything that can be done about the whistle? can i like, bees wax the joint? that seems... no. not right at all. sprinkle kief on it?

I once had some low quality herbs that would not vape at all, but by drying them out as much as possible and grinding/shredding it into a very fine kief-like dust I was able to get wonderful thick tasty vapor. To get to the consistency i'm talking about you would need a small food processor or coffee grinder. No herb grinder would be sufficient.

Try adjusting or increasing the size of your load. My units' whistle disappears with a loaded ELB in.

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right
I had the distinct pleasure of spending some time with StoneMonkey himself today.
I was able to see and sample some of the new glass that is in the future.

Quick summation: start saving your pennies dollars kiddies.

Of necessity I need to walk a fine line here as these are not yet production items (and may well change form by production time). Not only that but these are his creations and the timing and presentation of them is entirely his, as it should be.

But they span the range from compact to complex. There is a significant addition to the mouthpiece setup that I think will prove very popular. The more complex units will require lung power but look amazing. In short, they certainly aren’t resting on their laurels.

And to StoneMonkey and VapeXhale let me suggest that you lay in a hefty supply of what SM referred to as V2.0 (he showed me two versions) before you announce them as they will be extremely popular.

On a personal note I like to go camping and he assurred me that with the proper inverter using the EVO would be ok...unlike the Cloud.

Sorry if this is pretty vague, but I have no desire to steal his or their thunder. As a teaser I hope he won’t mind my mentioning that they have heard our musings about a portable device and......think VapeXhale quality and inventiveness.

As for the man himself he seems genuinely interested in the folks who use the Cloud/EVO, how they use it, and how they feel about it. All with an eye to make it an even better product.

And if it weren’t enough by itself that he has brought to market an amazing product he also loves dogs! Has three very friendly furry companions.

We're in good hands.
