So I bought my evo dec 2018 and it still whistles but I have a theory on the whistle ...

Is tha whistle like a trainin tool that teaches u to slow down your draw speed ??? If I draw hard or fast it whistles ... If I draw a steady normal draw no whistle ...

Hi guys I am a longtime owner and recently wanted to start using my EVO through a 14mm rig. I was wondering if anyone has seen this adapter sold anywhere online or if I could find the pieces separately? I prefer to not have to hold the evo upside down and I do know that it is 18mm without an attachment. I would even settle for an 18mm to an 18mm. Thank you guys for any help!

New additions to my family, a new replacement EVO, with the newer heat shield, first time I actually see temps on the device haha.
The calyx and a dhgate hydra base.

TBH, the base is not really practical for the EVO, I prefer to use it normally and not upside down. I got the base so I could use the HT more easily with other vapes such as the TinyMight.

The calyx is a great new addition! I will post a review soon hopefully. I'll keep my thoughts for now :)

My Calyx Review

So the new VapeXhale HydraTube arrived about a week ago and I've been playing with it for a while now and I wanted to give you my impression of the Calyx.

I will give some contrast with original Swagger Turbine that I have from day 1.

First off, lets talk about the form factor, I love it!
I was expecting it to be small and its pretty much the same size as the Lynx which I also own.
This size makes it as portable as glass can be and its a much better fit for other portable vaporizer compared to a full sized Hydra Tube.
But even when using it with the EVO its a bit more comfortable when sitting on the couch, you don't have to raise your posture as much as with the turbine... well perhaps it not a good thing LOL.
But in terms of breakage, the size makes it safer to use in my eyes.

The coolest thing I probably overlooked when ordering the Calyx is the mouthpiece, I love it! I don't know why it feels so nice on your lips but its an upgrade to the turbine who has a standard mouthpiece, nothing wrong with that, its easier to fill, but the Calyx mouthpiece is really awesome!

So lets talk performance, this one is a beast, you can produce massive clouds easily, its so easy to draw with, in fact, this is where the Calyx really differs from the Swagger Turbine.
The turbine produces an amazing diffused hit but it is relatively harder to pull, the drag is different and in order to take a massive hit, you really need to be a "pro", the result however is phenomenal.
The Calyx does not diffuse as well as the Turbine, I wasn't expecting it, its less than half the size and the amount of water used is so small, but with the Calyx, I think its easier to get a huge hit, sure, it feels harsher so you need to be careful sometimes (really, you can take massive hits, I will try to made a video comparison), I can cough like a mad man.
So because of that I have place for both HT in my life and I actually think that the Calyx is a better choice for a first timer, or for any friend who comes, it just so easy to pull and get results.
I think this is also the reason why some people say the whip providers better results (assuming they are using the Lynx), which is incorrect in my opinion, just easier (with a price) to achieve with a larger Hydra Tube.
To finish the diffusion/drag topic, I also have a "fake" Chinese HydraTube and I have say that the Calyx diffuses as good as it, which for me is impressive, because of how small the Calyx is.

In terms of taste, you can really taste the bud using the Calyx, there's lots of taste, but I can't really say how well its against the Turbine, I'm lazy at cleaning.

So overall I'm very happy with the Calyx, I recommend it to anyone, its a great addition, although I have to be fair, having the Lynx, maybe I could have settled with the Heilo mouthpiece on top of the Lynx, but oh well, I can get that as well.

VapeXhale make real fine glass, in my opinion, it worth the money, and it used to cost more, so don't settle on a fake HT, get the real deal, my fake one collects dust and will only be used in case the world will end.

I have 2 due 2 excessive collecting!
My 1st made so much noise?
After it was put to use it became quite?
Amps were no longer interfering with stoke’s of KOLAS from my garden of last season’s harvest?

EVO’s R very smooth as well!

There are few things I might have forgotten to write about in my Calyx review...I did even shot a video of 9 minutes trying to explain and show the differences...lets say I understand how hard it is to do so while getting high...haha, I might post that, but I dunno, I forgot to put a hat in the start of the video so who knows lol....

I cleaned the calyx yesterday and it was super easy, you hardly have to put ISO alcohol because its so tiny, just that and some kosher salt, boiling water in a jug, dip it in for a few minutes and then shake it like a monkey - done and new.

Also, talking again about taste, the taste is stronger since its less diffused from the normal HT, but this also means the harsher and later hits are less tasty, the big HT really gives you a smooth and tasty hit, its just perfect IMO.

Let me finish with a photo that I just took of my whole family
We are missing the TinyMight to complete the package :)

So for now, we are one happy family :)

@mustacheemperor, super sour diesel... Mmmm, nice. Those diesel flavors and aromas :brow:....

Enjoy the EVOs @mosh. As @MonkeyTime mentions, VapeXhale uses an adhesive to bind the bamboo to the coil heater in the EVO. Usually the heater is glued to the glass bamboo tube but it can come free over time and so the bamboo then tends to spin. And thus the bamboo can become move-able up and down as well. It's not great to spin glass against the heater (that grinding sound @MonkeyTime is the metal coil wrap literally grinding against the bamboo glass). It could be that the Vapefiend repair didn't use any adhesive when they replaced the bamboo. Strange to hear about the different draw resistance. It wouldn't be the bamboo spin, but there were a number of running updates in the design of the bamboo over the EVO years. If temps feel different between the two EVOs definitely bump the temp dial up a bit on the cooler one and see how it goes (and let us know).

@MonkeyTime, if your EVO bamboo seals (try testing both cold and when the heater is on and to temp), then it sounds like you're fine and have an intact bamboo that isn't cracked. Spinning of the bamboo should be avoided (especially if it grinds). Nothing appears to have been significantly impacted, yet. The bamboo may last forever, or it may not. The bamboo adhesive is not the strongest stuff as it's hard to glue to glass; it can come loose with good twist, like a bottle cap. It sounds like lots of owners get some bamboo play over time. I'd run with it until the EVO actually breaks down, but to each their own.

Are you enjoying the EVO @disruptxd?

:peace: :leaf:
Yeah I am, although it feels like the punch is a bit too strong. Microdosing is pretty hard coming from an arizer air. I def won't be buying a new desktop, and if I continue smoking greens I'll get a fury edge probably.

Thank you VXL customer support for fixing my Evo for almost the same problem twice in six months...me breaking the bamboo being dumb. After several years with the same unit with no problems! Two points of advice for everyone: 1) watch the cable when you’re vacuuming. Especially if the roomba is vacuuming, that was my first break 2) Really do be extra careful about cleaning the bamboo while it’s hot. A drop of iso dripped off my paper towel as I wiped off the bamboo and instantly cracked the inside when it evaporated.

Anyway, the repair folks must have sympathized with me because they threw in a few new baskets and some cleaning wipes that won’t drip😆. One thing I’m curious about though- the repair form says they upgraded my control board! Anybody know anything about what’s been changed? After my first repair I could tell they had changed the bamboo design slightly, but they didn’t change any internals. Big thanks to Colleen for the repairs and the upgrade!

The whistle on my EVO is so strong now, I have to put ear plugs because it hurts my ears.
I have tinnitus.
Other than that I've been using the EVO and trying to compare it with the tinymight for the last week or so, I guess I'll do a review and compare it...Some interesting findings, the EVO is just so awesome.

I saw one guy saying the tinymight was like a portable evo. I absolutely love the evo and can't believe it took so long to pull the trigger. Everything I own has been sidelined since receiving it.

Does it whistle ? I don't think so... then it can't be a portable EVO by definition ;)

Seriously though, I hope I can pull through with an in depth look of if it can be used as a heavy hitter like the EVO.

Could someone please recommend a good, inexpensive gram scale on Amazon? I made the mistake of washing mine,
and now it doesn't work. I paid $20 for it 2 years ago and now it is $54. I micro dose and need to measure hundredths of a gram.
Thanks in advance

Someone said Seibo (the inventor) claimed the whistle is from the pinch in the glass insert. I wonder if you stuck a loose screw or the like down the bamboo to change the "configuration of the whistle" would that alleviate the sound and not electrocute you?

I have bought many of these ones (5-0 took them twice) to me and my friends
Check it outm, 7.69 USD 0.01g scale.

OMG, it lowers the volume! as long as you don't push it all the way until its blocked...I wonder how practical this would be in a session...using my 2nd almost whistleless cloud now :)

+Edit - I'm thinking of getting a new HT, I think VX only offer 2 now? the ans swiss honeycomb and the precision hydrabomb...
I have 2 swagger turbine, i assume they are best for taste?
I wonder which I should pick.

Not sure I'd want to put a screw in there myself, but a quartz terp pearl maybe. I've tried a 6mm one in mine and it did not affect the draw resistance noticeably, 2 on the other hand was a no go. I don't have a unit that whistles very often though, I tried it for shits and giggles.

A while back there was a long discussion about this (the whistle) and blocking up the bottom of the bamboo with cotton and such.

Tried all of it but found it reduced the flow to much for my likes. Others found a balance they liked.

Metal in my glass bamboo, no thank you. That just sounds like trouble waiting to happen!

Mine is in for a loose bamboo, really looking forward to it's return.

that was only a theoretical test...
For me it seems much more reasonable to put earplugs or in this case TP would be enough...it still sucks but what can you do, these high frequncies hurt my ears, maybe like some say, the volume will drop after a while and I'll be able to use it without ears protection
