LOL I love Danny McBride! If you haven't (but I know you probably have lol) you have got to see Eastbound and Down on HBO! Also it was nice seeing him in Alien Covenant as Tennessee!

When it comes to my Evo, I have tried many different things..especially when it comes to Temp stepping. I'm not sure if anyone has ever set their Evo on the lowest setting, but on my unit, when I leave it there heating up for about 30 mins and then inhale, I get probably the most subtle tastes of Terpenes I've ever had. Watching some old "bubbleman" videos is what got me into the whole temp stepping thing since there are indeed different effects from different temperatures.. So yes I have started at the lowest taking my sweet time at about two puffs a temp all the way till about 1:30 or 2:00 on the dial. I can always tell it's cashed by the taste I'm looking for right before I even get a hint of anything like popcorn.

Nowadays tho, I basically start at Noon on the dial (350F and work my way up to around the 2 o clock postion somewhere between 400 and 410F.

From what I read toxins start to form after 400F. I recently traded in my Evo for a new unit and it seems to be calibrated correctly according to their own temp dial settings. Just remember tho, not all Evo's are calibrated the same and you'll be good tho.

As far as concentrates go, I've used nothing but sauce and haven't had shatter or crumble in nearly 8 months since my dispensary stopped carrying them. Hopefully they'll get some in soon or so they say.. Well see.

For Sauce and Live Resin I basically just start at 3 on the dial (440F). About a grain of rice or even half that does me good. I just set it in, wait till the vapor just barely starts creeping out of the top of the unit and inhale very very slow... When I don't take that big of a first hit, I can usually immediately start with the 2nd cloud I usually get with the same amount.. LOL but lately, I need more time to recover from the first hit and I end up wasting that second hit for the most part due to my coughing fit lol! ;)

Not really much to it for me.. as I pretty much go from 12 to 2 on the dial and a maximum of about 6 to 7 big draws while stirring after the first 3 draws at noon and then moving to 1 or 2.

This is what I loved about this Vape and my Plenty so much.. They just worked consistently and all the time.. with little to no guesswork and without the variables that came with a few of the other vapes I owned.

Anyhow that's pretty much how I do it... Oh... and the Keef from my 4 piece SCS I treat the same as herb.. the exact same technique. I don't know about you guys but Keef really clogs up my baskets though. I'm always open to hear how others do it too!
Thx @Socks And Sandals ! Danny McBride is great and Eastbound and Down introduced me to him. What a show. There's lots to unpack in your post and feedback; thx so much for all the detailed information :sherlock:. I quoted it so it can be read on the new page here. I look forward to incorporating and trying much of it for sure . There are so many excellent and different ways to use the EVO :leaf:.

Your concentrates heat settings are interesting, higher than what I've tried. I'll have to play there a bit and see how it goes :). I too have found second hits of concentrates often challenging, for the same reasons as you (it's hard to not cough, recover fast and take that draw well). It was the impetus for the development of my one-hitter concentrates method.

It's great to hear that your new EVO unit is calibrated better temp-wise. I agree the EVO is incredibly consistent and easy to use. So flexible too.

Thx again for all that.

Happy EVO Friday . It's nice to enjoy a great craft beer too; recommended. The EVO delivered here... going into an enjoyable cannabis weekend . I did a combo 1/3 ELB of a combination of fresh quality Acapulco Gold and Sour Tangie. No crazy euphoria this time but :science: .

Four hours later I did a second heavy 1/3 ELB of the same thing... and I could only draw for 8 seconds at a time, because the vapor was so potent. Cough, cough and big clouds so I took a rare break after just two draws  . The THC effects were strong and impressive. I ended up finishing that last ELB over two more sessions (low temp and high temp draws) and I'm doing great now :freak:.

On a related EVO note, I just received my Black Friday DHGate glass order for the VapeXhale EVO; it was a double glass setup of two Swiss Tree water pieces (hydrabase and hydratube) with a glass stand and plug, shown paired with a VapeXhale EVO. I love the look, design and use of these pieces. More to come....

Hey thanks man! Yeah, I've experimented as low as 11 o clock on the dial with mainly shatter and crumble actually. I use the same settings now for live sauce and resin. I just found out I was waiting a little too long for the vapor and that first hit was a little too whispy for me. Since cranking it up around 3, I've timed it just right like how I described. What's funny is not every Evo is Calibrated the same. It seems as if my old EVO combusted around 1 while my new replacement can combust about 2 on the dial. Believe me, I've heard guys on here go up to 3 and still not combust, so again it's very important to realize not all evos are exactly the same temp. I'm always open to try new things and new techniques.

Yeah, I first discovered Danny Mc Bride in that too. When I saw him in Alien Covenant I was like.. HOLY SHIT!!! :)

Just be careful to take your unit off of the rig immediately after taking a hit. I understand that you do NOT want to run the EVO upside down for very long as the heat will rise to the electronics area.

Maybe consider a whip and glass adapters to very easily connect your right side up evo to your Hydrobase.

By the by, very nice buy on the glass. Looks lovely. Does it function well?

:2c: Just to add to the above, I've been using my Evo upright on my HydraBomb but also inverted on the rest of my glass collection, on and off (through vape rotations) for a number of years now.

I agree that provided you remove it after each hit (as I tend to do at the end of each hit anyway, in order to clear the piece of vapor) and return it to it's upright position, the Evo will be fine and there should be no issue. I believe this is recommended practice from VapeXhale - so inverted use is completely approved if carried out in this manner.

Plus, using the device in this way keeps things pure as it doesn't compromise the Evo's nearly all-glass (+ stainless steel basket) airpath - so no silicone whip to potentially taint your experience or at the very least require regular maintenance in the form of cleaning or replacement.

Just don't try it with your VapeXNails!

Thx @Socks And Sandals . Lots more great info there too. I also have so far found that I use the same temp settings regardless of the type of concentrate in the nail. My EVO could probably to 3 o'clock on the heater dial (even some more depending on draw speeds and times I'd guess); I've done 2:30 on the dial many times with flower and have never combusted in the EVO. It's cool to be open to trying new techniques and methods, and I do similar. I recall there's a great back story to Danny McBride being cast and acting in Alien Covenant. Look for it on the net if interested.

Thx @Baron23 . Yup, I'm aware of inverted EVO use recommendations and the history inverted EVO use here in the thread... and it's good to mention the recommendations again. I don't keep glass on the EVO in my ritual use (for safety reasons) so I'm sure I'll be easily able to do the same with not keeping the EVO on my glass ;). Good habits area good. I have a few different whips for the EVO but I've never used them as I prefer and enjoy the glass pathway. The Swiss Tree glass is lovely, both at rest and in action. I highly recommend tree percs and swiss tree water pieces. The hydrabase is excellent overall, with an impressive 10 mm thick base. The hydratube is definitely less perfect; I've reached out to the seller and we'll see if I can get it replaced with a better made piece. Well made, I think these area great water pieces. I'll post more significant feedback on the glass as I get to use it a bit.

Thx @VegNVape . That sounds like a great setup and collection. Yup the EVO is fine with inverted use and VapeXhale discusses inverted use in the safety instructions. https://www.xhl3.com/pages/safety-instructions. The airpath (+SS basket) was an important part in my choice of the EVO . I love the all glass air path setup with concentrates and the addition of the SS basket with flower works excellently for me. I'm a clean hound too and have posted detailed cleaning info and even pictures (lol). It's partly because I have an easy cleaning routine that I decided adding some more glass options would be just fine ;).

Cheers this Saturday with the EVO everyone :). I vaped a small ELB of potent Golden Goat flower again here. I could barely handle 8 second low temp (320 F) dry draws and fought coughing. Big vapor clouds too; the EVO is an extraction machine . I stopped after five draws with big clouds :zombie:.

My EVO has whistled again this weekend , but that's a minor issue in a sea of otherwise excellence :2c:. I'm looking forward to using the EVO again here shortly. In the mean time, here's a picture of the separated DHgate Swiss Tree hydratube I recently received. This is the piece I really wanted. Big picture, lots of detail.
b822husndu841.jpg

It's a real looker . It includes a sidecar mouthpiece, an overflow chamber, a tree perc and a swiss cheese style vapor chamber. You can see the hydratube came with a nice large stand.

I just finished that ELB of Golden Goat flower off at higher temp wet with the above swiss tree hydratube :). Another big vapor cloud on the first 12 second draw . I'm feeling good . Enough so I planned out my next sesh going with some of that excellent nuken shatter concentrates (see last few posts) in the glass nail set up for the EVO ;). Both flower and concentrates are great in the EVO. And there's some Blue Dream flower on stand-by .

With all the different methods out there, here's another example of how the EVO can be used differently and something that I've been thinking about lately. I have dominantly vaped the EVO where I do a 3-6 draw session to cache an ELB at low temp (~320 F), then high temp (~390 F). Insteadn, I recently started temp stepping before caching all the vapor at any given temp. Do a few draws at low temp, then a few more draws at a higher temp (and so on if you want). This mixes more of the low temp terps and cannabinoids into the higher temp draws. It's definitely a different experience to me. So many things to try and there sure are a lot of ways to vape cannabis.

Have a great weekend :peace: :leaf:

For sure @ataxian ;).

I can definitely see how much more the large Swiss Tree hydratube conditions the vapor over the Precision Honeycomb, it's significant . Very smooth vapor with flower. It helps a lot too with concentrates dense vapor is dense vapor.... I did that small nail of Nuken ;) and the vapor was still enough to make me cough a bit after the first 10 second draw. :science::evil:

My 12:30 EVO heater setting and one hitter low temp (~365 F) concentrates method delivered in spades again . I took a quick second draw (and often do, only maybe 2-3 seconds long) and it was toasty (pretty much always is unless I mess up and start drawing too early), yuck and definitely showing me how good, clean and flavorful my first draw was.

Interestingly, in this method I see the EVO go red while heating the nail as described in the method details in older posts. And I find this comes from using the thinner nails I've received (mentioned in older posts as well); the air gap in these nails appears to definitely be more of a challenge for the heater. Regardless, by simply following the method and melting/rocking concentrates in a heatsoaked EVO at low temps to visible wisps, followed basically by a 15 second wait... and then a 10 second draw and 10 second hold, is the way to go (or whatever draw and hold time you are comfortable with). Highly recommended worth trying :2c:. I'm happy to also report that my glass boro nails, in combination with my strong weekly cleaning methods, consistently clean near perfectly after the first dab simply by heatsoaking it for 15-20 minutes at 490 F in the EVO heater. That's great to add into the rotation . Simple, easy, fast.

I look forward to stacking the hydratube and hydrabase at some point when I want to go for ultra smooth vapor . Great times here with the EVO. Hope it is for you as well.

Great Sunday here with the EVO; I hope your day went well . I free ranged with the EVO, from a Ghost Train Haze and Blue Dream flower mix in an ELB to Super Lemon Haze live resin nail (there's a LR thread up now that inspired me), then back to a small ELB of Afghan Kush. The EVO delivers the goods  :science:.

Live resin is definitely more terpy in my limited experience than shatter. I had a big beautiful first low temp wet Swiss Tree hydratube draw giving big dense strong clouds and great great flavors. The flower sessions were all high quality batches too. I can still tell the Swiss Tree hydratube conditions the vapor significantly more than the Precision Honeycomb... smooth vapor . It's been excellent to switch things up and then tweak the experiences with glass; the EVO does it all so well. And very enjoyable.

Have a nice Sunday eve :peace: :leaf:

I'm thinking about trying another plug in vape, I currently have a Plenty. How has this vape "aged" over the last 6 years, has the technology and performance kept up with the times? If anyone has the Plenty also, how do they compare? I appreciate all opinions :)
The PLENTY is different than the EVO ?
Both I have and like.
If $ 4 CANNABIS is a factor the EVO.
The PLENTY is for harvest!
Just my option?
My CANNABIS last longer in a EVO!

ROSIN overall = maxed out in confusing bumper crop?

I don't really care about cannabis cost, I am not a high volume user. I'm more concerned with the quality of the device and the smoothness of the vapor it put's out. At about $400 it isn't a cheap investment.

The EVO was one of the first vapes I bought many years ago. My vape collection has continued to grow and it still is my favorite for taste, affect and efficiency. My biggest issue with the EVO is how much time it takes to reach the selected temp. I have used work-arounds for the time to temp issue like turning it on and then filling the ELBs, etc. Due to the time to temp and my lack of patience the EVO hasn't been used as much as I'd like. I recently got an Echo/Alexa and a smart plug and hooked the EVO to the smart plug. Now, I could be watching TV in the family room and instead of getting up and going into the "vape room" to turn on the EVO and/or fill it so it's ready when I am.... I tell Alexa to turn on the EVO and remind me to use it in 5 minutes....my EVO is getting used everyday now just like it deserves to be.

Do users prefer the VapeXhale or quartz buckets for concentrates?
It took me a while to dial in the settings and methods for concentrates with the nail in the EVO but it's great with top notch flavors. I no longer torch quartz buckets for concentrates.

I'm thinking about trying another plug in vape, I currently have a Plenty. How has this vape "aged" over the last 6 years, has the technology and performance kept up with the times? If anyone has the Plenty also, how do they compare? I appreciate all opinions :)
The EVO has matured into a stable and reliable platform from a known quality US producer and supplier. The EVO is one of a small number of excellent top end premium evapes. Especially for doing both flower and concentrates. It still has one of the largest and most powerful heaters out there and the technology and performance is still top notch. The setup, use and cleaning after use is all top rated, simple and easy. There is no direct heat/burn/fire hazard with the EVO. I'll mention that the EVO takes 3-4 minutes to heat up whereas a few new vapes have on-demand performance with a heat up time reportedly taking seconds. That's not a big deal to me as I'm always preparing to vape while the EVO heats up (grabbing glass, grabbing flower, grinding, loading the ELB, etc.). YMMV. The EVO also has a large support ecosystem with many products and third party suppliers. This includes tools and glass. The EVO can be used with dry/wet glass as well as with whips. There is no single best vape for everyone. Look closely at all the different vape options and see which one suits you best. Every vape has it's own advantages and disadvantages and different people have different preferences.

The EVO is typically a nice step up from the Plenty. The EVO is full convection heating while the Plenty is hybrid heating with both convection and conduction. The Plenty only goes to 396F which is ~50 F below combustion so it leaves cannabinoids unvaporized. And the Plenty is not as well suited with its coil vapor path to different mouthpiece options (dry and wet). I don't find the Plenty as good as the EVO for concentrates either. Note that the Plenty now is captured in the S&B aluminum particulate controversy which comes from attaching/detaching the coil whip cap.

New does not mean better. Vapes often seem to be released early and then go through revisions over time. The Flowerpot and EVO did this. And the S&B Hybrid Volcano situation is no bueno.

Yea I've been looking at that DHgate swiss tree tube myself ... Never ordered from DHgate who did u buy it from ??? How is tha thickness of tha glass ???

stevenlmz79. I have some issues with the hydratube and am trying to get it replaced. The hydrabase, stand and plug are fine. I will report back with a more fulsome review of the hydratube and the other glass pieces when this whole process ends. So far I'll note that when made well, they're all great pieces. The glass is reasonably thick enough.
