. . . Question: I hear a lot of talk about Bamboo/Glass path etc... but that's the one part of the Cloud and Evo I could never quite get a grasp on. What is the key to the Bamboo in the 2 devices, construction material for the airpath?
What exactly are you looking for re "the key"? The bamboo is just acolloquialismnickname for the glass air tube that runs the length of the Cloud.
"Bamboo" is being used as slang? IDK WTF. I know "totes" and "fml" and "ratchet" but bamboo as a term for something else is completely new to me.
So both Cloud and Evo have similar glass tubes for the airpath, and there is no actual bamboo? If that is the case (believe me I've tried reading all the cloud threads from the start, it's taken months ...) then por que bamboo?
As t-dub alluded to, the structure of the glass airway inside the Cloud/EVO is much like the natural structure of bamboo...containing partitioned cells inside.Bamboo is the nickname for the partitioned glass tube in the center of the device.
I wonder if it's similar to the HeathStone "inner-cooler" system or if it's more for strength or a bit of restriction for the draw (though the draw on my ticking clouds is wide open) probably should search hehehAs t-dub alluded to, the structure of the glass airway inside the Cloud/EVO is much like the natural structure of bamboo...containing partitioned cells inside..
The bamboo is designed to agitate the air for better heat transfer and to lower the pressure at the bowl which in turns lowers the vaping temps of the actives.I wonder if it's similar to the HeathStone "inner-cooler" system or if it's more for strength or a bit of restriction for the draw (though the draw on my ticking clouds is wide open) probably should search heheh
holy crap. I am so medicated I can barely type. Went over Bob Loblaw's house Sunday to checkout his new EVO, but it was broken. He got the first defective unit. Darn. We took it apart and found one of the wires pinched and broken off. He didn't have the right tools so I brought it home to fix. He is getting a replacement so no biggie.
Ok, decided to crack it open again and figured out where the wire goes. Clean the through hole, soldered the wire back in, and reassembled. The unit powers on and heats changing from red to green when hot.
Threw a load in, attached to my nice big Pulse bong and took a few drags. Now I understand why its named "cloud". Boy, 5 hits and still going. Had to put it down before I dropped it breaking my glass and Bob's EVO. Whoa, why didn't I buy one of these. Can't go back to the solo or extreme Q now. I am screwed for life, thanks Bob.
Ok, here is my problem, how the hell to I get away not giving this puppy back? I can lose my keys, but I own multiple vehicles and he knows. Maybe a death in the family back east and had to jet away immediately, that would work for a week. I need a longer term answer. Got to relax, sober up and noodle up a good solution to avoid losing this baby. That's another issue, you got it, you use it and I have plenty meds. Its going to be considerable time before I am sober enough to give this serious thought. Days, maybe weeks even.
Oh, that's the ticket. I'm out of town for Thanksgiving and too messed up to drive back until I run out of meds, which could take weeks...
well i see i total screwed up for this post. Bob had permission to do this and otherwise i would not have done this. I knew this would void warranty normally. I was just writing a tongue & cheek story. No intent on dissing anything or lead somebody down the wrong path. sorry. While I am thrilled that you were able to identify and fix Bob's problem, I wanted to let the forum know that in typical situations, if you open up your EVO, you will lose the warranty. In Bob's case, his was the first unit that arrived not functioning last Friday (we are well below the 2% industry avg defect rate so kudos to the assembly team) so I asked him to take a look on our behalf as we wanted to identify the problem (and find a solution) as quickly as possible. This was a very specific case and if for whatever reason, someone gets a EVO that doesn't work on arrival, please open a support ticket and send it back. If you choose to repair your unit yourself, your warranty will be void.
@PhotoRider - you have an awesome glass collection, you definitely need to add the EVO to your lineup of incredible vaporizers. I look forward to your (and Bob's) review(s) as you put the machine through its paces.

oh, one can still send it in for repair. If there is a component failure, which this wasn't you would need the part. This was very simple issue and possibly happened in assembly or shipping. the wire got pinched and didn't have any strain relief and snapped off. Could have been a jar in shipping, who knows, but a simple smoking gun issue. I doubt a failure outside immediate would be this simple. Factory repair seems best. This is great news, the original cloud wasn't user serviceable. If the warranty is expired on the EVO you at least have a better chance getting it working again it appears, sounds good to me.
My friends store who got 48 ps4s for launch had 2 returned doa so thats 4% failure rate and sony is a pretty legit company when they aren't getting hacked and leaking your personal infos.
Indeed. Depending on the level of expertise and what the problem is, user repair could end up making things worse and more expensive.PhotoRider said:Factory repair seems best.

Lets see my d-nail on my oil rig, and the EVO on my herb rig. A marriage made in heaven, doesn't that mean until death do you part???
hopefully, people are not throwing a simple failure of an EVO and easy repair to the PS4 and Sony... don't know how we got down that road. I'm the guy who doesn't own one, but has his hands on one because I helped fix the easy issue and you must take it from me under gun point. Even then I would need a moment to think about it...
I'm pissed I didn't do a pre-sale, but I think, oh I have one, take some meds and its all good again.

@stonemonkey55 - he only has the one elb i loaned him in case of successexplain that? i read your pm, but don't understand that method. Is it different that using both screens for herb?
