My Tubo has arrived!

I can confirm what basically anyone has already said: it's smaller than expected!
And stunnigly beautiful!

WOOOO
:science:

I have been trying it out the past few nights, I am encountering some problems but I'm sure you'll be able to enlighten me.

1) The device randomly shuts off. Has his happened to anyone? No problem if I turn it off and on with five clicks, but if I leave it on the screen turns off by itself, and there's no way to wake it up. I then need to restart it by re-inserting the battery.

2) If I go in menu>misc>3D and then select a random option, the device freezes. I then need to restart it by re-inserting the battery. (I don't even know what that does, just pointing it out).

3) I don't see consistent results in vapor production.
I've tried the bong, the whip+bong, the bent stem packed in different ways, but I just don't seem to get it.
I enjoy low temp vaping, especially during the day.

I'll describe what I did earlier today so maybe you can tell what I'm doing wrong.
Packed the bent stem (with the elb screen already inside the glass joint of the stem, I put a vouple little nugs inside. As soon as I locked the stem in position, they fell to the Tubo's screen - as it became apparent when I took it out to look at the bud).

I started a cruise session at 160C. Nothing for a couple of hits, then I started to feel my throat tingle. With strong inhales, it was actually a bit uncomfortable and made me cough. Lovely taste, zero vapor. Bud was green. Wasn't high.

After 15 minutes, went for another cruise at 180C. Hot air made me cough again, was only be able to see the vapor when exhaling over the torch of my phone. Weed was still very green to me, unrecognizable from before, and almost no effect.

After 10 minutes, because I am an impatient asshole, I reached for the whip and attached it to the bent stem:my throat thanked me.
Tried on demand at 200C (for on demand you just keep the central button pressed, right?) and nothing happened. The device started giving me a "weak battery" sign: I was indeed around 30%.
Started cruise at 200C, same thing except the message appeared now every time I was inhaling. Tried a couple of strong pulls, not much happened. When I slowed down (as the LSV taught me for raising the temp) I had a good amount of vapor for a couple of hits, then I suddenly felt the taste of spent material.
Sure enough, upon checking the buds, they were very dark brown on one side, green on the other.

BUT!
...it worked :smug:

What conclusions do we draw from this compelling tale?

I've read some other people's experiences that I think mirror my own. For example @Vape Dr. 's post number 866.

Any taker?
Enjoy your day/night guys, it's IASIP time for me now! :dog:

Cheers!
:peace:

@BaroneBarra for your first question, pressing the fire button should wake up the device when the screen turns black.
Dunno about the rest, my only thoughts are:

Your temps are low...

If you're using small nugs in a load which is small enough to fall out of the basket screen into the Tubo, then you've probably got big air gaps in the load, and the heat is bypassing it taking the path of least resistance.
Try a course going and lightly tamp so it stays in place??

You do need a decent amount of power in your batteries. I swap out anywhere below 35% or so. If you continue after, they'll struggle to maintain the temps you've asked for (can't wait for my PA  ).

I'd stick to cruise, grind your load and bump up the temps to start with...
Good luck

Also I remember mine turning itself off and freezing. It doesn't do that anymore. I can't remember what I did to stop it but I think it was probably an upgrade. And changing one of the buttons to something else. I wasn't the only one with that problem. Either check back through the thread or wait for someone who remembers the fix.

What's everyone's experience with the shipping to the US when you choose Priority? How many days on average does it take? I'm on day 8 and super anxious to get this thing before I go home for the holidays .

I don’t recall precisely how long it took for mine to arrive, but it was stuck in Customs for a couple of weeks. Others have received their Tubo in just days.

I’m hoping my Dual takes the quick route, but it’s not like I’m desperate this time around. :)

sorry to disencourage you but chances are high you will be dissapointed. The average at this time of the year is not a good thing to lean on. Right now every shipping company is at max pressure and with intercontinental shipping chances are high that even the expensive express lines fail at some point of the chain. this is based on a three years in a row experience by myself, never got a package under two weeks in december, always priority.

good luck :D

Shit. I would have waited to order.. I was told it should make it in time.. I'm going home for 3 weeks. If it comes while I'm gone, you think it will be okay outside in the cold? Hopefully the delivery person will have the decency to leave it inside my foyer even though they usually don't..

I just managed to break my water piece adapter trying to clean it...
Does anyone has an idea where i can get a 14 mm wpa at a reasonable price?
18 mm male to 14 mm male would be the right one i guess.

I suggest making at least one of these little guys:

how do you manage to keep the squashed "lid" capsule, tight within the container capsule?
it doesn't quite stuck and keep just falling off no matter how i tried to arrange the squashed part.
i can of course just put it in the Tubo as it is, but then it can fall off after use and mess up.
but your picture seems the show it's tightly closed.

Thanks. I just got a new pair of Sony somethings. I'll reserve them for the tubo. It's nice that they make batteries in different colors. Brown for the Zion and now green for the tubo.

You can actually use your Zion batteries here too btw, just like regular Tubo batteries can also be used for Mist and Milaana etc. Since Zion batteries are matched pairs as well, you just need to keep the pairs together is all, as if that is one battery pack and you can use it in any vape that requires such

Usually, I have the opposite problem and they're too big. But if you push the outside edges of it in/out you should be able to get the metal in a position where some of the outer points stick to the other screen. Just a matter of working it to get it in the right place. Good luck!

I poke around a lot with the included tubo stir stick to get them into shape/to fit. I have 3 "tops" I made and probably 5~ or so of the actual caps or whatever, so I mix n match at will. I really find myself using the little capsules more than joint packing nowadays. It's a lot more efficient on herbs and battery. I suppose the metal from the capsules does soak a lot of the heat, but I can use a lot lower temps overall with the load closer to heat.

I can still only squeeze like 3ish capsules on a battery, but the batteries I'm using atm have definitely seen better days. I have some paired, newer batteries I currently use in my Zion and plan to use once I get my dual though :brow:

The little capsules aren't the most fun things to make but I really like them, as opposed to having to unload the stem or carry multiple stems, if you're joint packing. I had weighed the little cups or whatever and they fit around .1 to .15 depending on how tight you want to pack the herbs. I always feel like there's a bit more I could squeeze out of them, but don't get much vapor putting the herb I finished at 385~ into my FP.

I posted a few days ago about Ddave's preload stem pack. I've had no problems with both the rimless inside screen and the outside screen falling off or separating.

I used the blunt end of the little stir tool to smash the top, then switch back and forth between the blunt end and the pokey end til they fit right. Some of mine don't look pretty but they still go in. I usually need to slip my fingernail between the two rims to pull them apart, but I have had one come loose in my backpack once upon a time, but that was a while ago - I think they're fine now.
