After spending the first few weeks/grams with the tubo evic I have to say that I am really happy with this vaporizer, so I want to drop a few lines about it.
I was looking for a portable convection vape with 18650 batt and glass path with an option to finetune the heat precisely for a maximum flavor experience at home and on the go. For discretion while out and about on my own I love my grasshopper, but for me it is not really a shareable experience, it gets too hot and battery drains too fast to share a bowl with someone comfortably. So for this task I found only two interesting contenders, the tubo and the arizer air 2.
While they both seem to provide what I ask for equally, they differ a lot when looking closer. I then chose the tubo because I love touching wood and was curious about the whip on a portable, the fact that I support a down to earth european startup with my purchase made it not that hard to decide.
@funkyjunky released a really unique experience in the portable vape game which I needed to try to fully understand it. When I made my order I added the whip and wpa because I wanted to use it through water at home, but now I find myself using it with the whip on the short stem most of the time. It cools even high temperature vapor down to a comfortable level without sacrificing the taste as much as through water. Someone in this thread mentioned that it feels like a desktop portable and I second that using it this way.
I always use the basket screen on the stem, with small amounts I use the
@muunch method and sandwich the load between two basket screens. But I find myself most of the time scooping my ground herb directly in the stem without stuffing and putting the basket on it. I get approx 0.15g loads this way and stretch them over 3 seperate sessions when partaking alone. If the herb is dry enough I didn't even need to stir, everything remains fluffy in the stem and gets cooked pretty even. Love it this way because all the smell of a partly cooked load remains in the stem, I can just put the stem outside directly after usage if discretion is needed, regardless of the weather conditions, and come back to it later. The vape itself remains smellfree this way.
Most important, it hits really hard and remains very accurate while doing so. I get a very fast and consistent extraction with herb and tried to stuff the abv in my grasshopper and pax3 at the same temperatures and couldn't get anything more out of it, but after increasing the temps slightly I get vapor again. I really like this accuracy.
Right now I experiment with classic hash in the tubo and it delivers! Because it can be set to extreme high temperatures it is able to exract a lot more then other battery-powered vapes out of this kind of stuff. Right now I make a pizza out of a 0.05 - 0.10g piece a wrap it over the top of the basket screen. Problem is that the hash shrinks back to a blob during the session and can't extract fully in one session because of this. Putting a screen on top didn't help much because it is not thight enough to prevent the shrink, maybe I need to stuff it between multiple screens or try something different. Open to suggestions on this. Mixing with herb isn't really an option because the fun with this vape and hash starts when herb would combust. To get nearly everything out of a 0.1g chunk I set the vape to max temp and cruise on full length. It eats a whole battery in one cruise but I would bet that the level of extraction is unbeaten compared to other battery-powered vapes. Although my vapcap can get even more out of it but butane-powered vapes are sometimes not an option. Also like the easy cleaning compared to other vapes used with hash, most devices gunk up fast but the gasket holds everything in the stem and makes it a breeze to clean afterwards.
At first glance I was a bit dissapointed by its wheight and size but now I appreciate it, anything lighter would make it instable on the desk while using it with the whip on a stem.
Only two things I miss are a kind of gyrosensor to flip the display when needed itself and an option to lock the stem to the vape, so that it can't fall of while carrying it around. Something in the same style as the battery cover to lock the stem to the shell and fill the gap in height between the two elements would be awesome.
So thats my experience with it, like it a lot!
