@frosty234: All Sony cells are listed over-rated, there's no 30A cell over 3000mAh in 18650 format on the market, you can't have both. The VTC6 is 18A CDR like the HG2 but seems to behave better under load, at the probable expense of cycle life. I still prefer the Samsung 30Q myself but difference in practice for our use cases is insignificant.

Prime = amazon prime? Beware of counterfeits on this platform, same for ebay and all usual suspects in China. Excepted maybe Fasttech as they seem to have authentic cells, at least when they are labeled this way (if no "authentic" keyword in the title, it's fake, beware)

What temp do you vape at?
This is a hard question cause there is not actual temp reading, it is based on changes in resistance value.. For example if tune you cold coil resistance at 185 and set at 200 C it will be less hotter than the same unit tuned at 190 res and set at 200 C .. Anyway if you tweak your unit well enough it can actually be made to display values really close to the realistic ones.. but again it would be individual for every unit,so comparison could be hard :))..
---------------------
My OG tubo originally was set at 190 res = and herb was getting darker tone at 200 C , later when it was set at 186 i was getting the same tone at 230 c .

How do I know if the tubo is on the latest firmware? My tubo just arrived and just need as much information as possible before I start utilizing this vape.

Are there any tips or tricks? Is there a certain technique? Is there some kind of guide somewhere to get the best out of the tubo?

All the info you need is in this thread, just read a few random pages or reviews. The manual has a lot of good info too or if you go to Tubo.lamart.ch there is more info and videos.

I like cruise mode, just grip and rip.

I think if you just received it that it should have the latest firmware. Just jump right in!

So far so good.

I have a few more questions. What exactly is warm-up mode for? I get confused with what it is used for. Also, once you set the temperature in manual mode, how long do you wait until you actually take a draw? Is it supposed to be instant? If it is instant, what is warm-up mode for?

Also, in cruise mode, I noticed it shut off on me a couple of times. Is there a time limit before the screen turns off? When the screen turns off and I press the fire button, it goes back to manual mode. In manual mode, let's say I take a long draw by pressing the fire button. Once I let go, does the unit stop providing heat to save power? If I press the fire button again after say a minute or two, do I wait some time before I draw again?

It's instant insofar as when you press the button, the coils start to heat instantly and get to temp within a few seconds. In reality it takes time/a draw or two to transfer the heat to the glass, and load, and start producing vapour.

Although I haven't used warm up mode myself, when using manual mode (and sometimes before a low temp cruise) I do usually preheat the coils by pressing the button for a few seconds before I take a draw. This seems to reduce the time (and we are talking seconds really) needed to start getting vapor.
I think warm up works a similar way, just to preset parameters.

And yes, in manual mode the heat is only provided when the button is pressed, and none when released. If this actually saves power or not is a ? for me, as the coils need to reach temp from cold and do all that heat transfer thing every time you take a hit - unlike cruise.

I would have thought the screen should only turn off if you've timed out of cruise and it just gone into standby :hmm:

I haven’t tried warm up mode yet so I’m not sure how it works, I think it was explained somewhere earlier in the thread.

Cruise mode lasts a certain amount of time, I didn’t realize it at first but there’s a cruise bar on the screen that slowly fills up as time counts down and when the bar fills up then cruise is over and turns off.

Yes, the heater turns off when you are not pressing the button in manual fire mode. It heats up pretty fast though, I would play with it and determine the best technique for how long to press and when to inhale.

Cruise mode is a bit easier because when you are not drawing, the heater is kept at a lower temperature, kind of like a warm up, and then it can detect when you draw and jacks the heat back up and it’s pretty much instant.

I've got two Tubo's and one of them has a hard time connecting to the computer for an update, while the other gets noticed immediately. Any of you know what I could do to get the problem one working? It vapes fine, I just can't get it to be seen by the computer for the update.

I dont know what it the reason for that, but i have some USB cables that work on some appliances while with other they are only good for charging , no data transfer. Maybe you could try the one that is bitchin with different cables :))..

@stickstones .. Have you tried connecting it to another computer? I've got 2 laptops (before you think anything of me, they're both a bit cack) and it wont connect to one of them (drivers issue methinks)

Try recovery mode perhaps?? My Tubo went black and grey responsive with a bad firmware update attempt. This sorted it out...

found @Pipes post about the recovery mode. thanks, will add it to the webpage.

Is heating evenly distributed or do people report charred spots??

You can char if you want to, depending on temps used, how you load + how you draw. I get lazy and don't stir with my shallow basket bowls close to the heater, when I finish em at higher temp with a big draw I will often get a wide hotspot in the center (but edges don't really leave much, stirring to hit again is frivolous)

Hi Everyone, I've had the tubo for almost a week now. In that time I packed up my Evo (Not for good has I like it for concentrates when I have some) and have been alternating between the tubo, mighty and the sticky brick has been ignored, but got it out this afternoon and it still is great and will remain in the rotation.:brow:

As for the performance the tubo can be delicate and gentle and yet turn her up and you can knock over a cap in a few draws. It's a heavy hitter no Doubt about that :science:

It does get hot at high temps and recommend the long bent stem and WPA.
With water it's like and electronic bong :science: man
Battery life, best to keep at least 1 spare if you have a charger handy in rotation. I have two and it's fine. I get about 3 - 5 sessions, and I mainly use cruise mode and switch it off during the stir.
Yea I'm an habitual stirrer. Don't judge me lol

Its an awesome piece and definitely recommend it to anyone. On demand and portable that hits like a desktop - you Bet

So I finally got my tubo in poplar/red. Big Thanks again @funkyjunky for thist fast and easy delivery.
I really am amazed how good it looks in reality. Sure I had some expactions as I've seen it so many times on pictures here in this thread, but seeing it in reality is a different thing. It really IS smaller than I expected although most people already mentioned the same thing.
It looks and feels really nice - I love the smell and feel of the wood but I'm kinda afraid of letting it get dirty too soon, the wood just feels like it wants to attract dirt. I also like how the battery cover is made with magnets. Only thing bothering me a little bit is that my screen has some minor scratches on it. But they're just slightly visible and I'm very picky when it comes to scratches so nvm that. All in all i really like the look and build quality, it's really something different.

Mine came with the bend mouthpiece, water adapter and the usual accessories. Some kind of tube with a glass mouthpiece was also included. What's this especially for? It has a plastic taste but I haven't used it in action yet.
The worst thing was that I had to wait for my batteries to charge before I could turn it on. Took some time. Samsung 25R from Amazon, I hope they're original.
Well when everything was ready I just followed the manual. I put about 0.1 g in the end of the mouth piece and closed with the basket screen. Question here: How small can i micro dose with the tubo? And what's the best tactics for that? I've saw somewhere in the thread how to make some kind of small bowl with two basket screens.

When I first turned the device on everything seems quite complicated. So many numbers to see and options to chose. As I'm coming from a device with no display this is definitely different. I explored the menu and set the few settings I understood to my liking. That really wasn't too much - most important thing was to flip the display (had to look that up in the thread here - maybe would be nice to include that into the manual?).
So I set temperature to 180°C, as this was the temperature I was used to with my storm, and started to heat the device up. First draw was very unspectacular, no vapor, no flavor, nothing - I think I didn't heat it up long enough. For the second draw I hold the fire button a bit longer and I realized a very clean and strong flavor, more than I was used to, but still no vapor. So I kept going for 5-6 more draws before vapor was produced.
I then accidentally started cruise mode at default settings. Vapor production was much more satisfactory this way. On each draw I had some nice clouds. Then my battery was low as I started with only 50 % capacity left.

Well so far my very first impressions on the tubo evic. I have only used it once with a small amount of herbs so I can't really tell much, but I'll definately change that in the future. So far I like the small device but I think there's still plenty to learn and improve in settings and technique.
First of all I'll need to understand all the terms used in the menu. My default coil is set at 0.206 - I better don't change that, right?
What does the TCR 185 M1 in the very first line mean?
Does it harm the device or battery in any way if I turn the evic on and off too often? How is the battery drain in idle, meaning when it's on but I'm not drawing?
I'm asking as I've like to take a draw every few minutes over maybe half an hour (or until the load is cooked). How many draws do you guys take for a load of about 0.1g? I had surprisingly more draws than expected until the flavor became not enjoyable anymore. Maybe around 15? Seems so many for just 0.1g to me. But as mentioned I don't have much experience in vaping at all.

Edit: Well I forgot one thing. I do like the bent mouth piece but the vapor gets hot after a while forcing me to cough a few times. Therefore I'd like to try some kind of bubbler.
I was looking at the ddaves cooler for the tubo at 25 $. That's a reasonable price but the shipping to Europe would also be 15 $ if I remember well + the vat I'd have to pay then. That makes the whole thing a bit less attractive.
I do have the 14mm wpa. Do you guys have any recommendations for a bubbler availaible in Europe fitting on my tubo? I'm not looking into something big as a bong, I'd prefer something more handy that fits inside a drawer.

@frosty Always charge the batteries full before first use, otherwise you might fuck up there capacity i think..
Try cruising for 20-30 seconds and then start pulling. As mentioned temp is calculated based on change in resistance and the set cold coil resistance which in your case is 207,so if that number is increased when set 180C with get hotter..,i hope you understand that there is no TRUE measure like with thermoprobe/thermistor but it is calculated via algorithm ,and some tweaking might get things pretty close to reality . Also with the storm being conduction ,temps in chamber and herb are pretty close, while with the TUBO u get the temperature of the COILS not the herb.. So with convection it takes some time for heat to transfer from air to the bowl.. ,you can short that time by increasing the temp. I dont suggest messing with the settings of the cold coil resistance but rather bump things up 200 C and see if you get more satisfactory results..
-------------------
As for water filtration,i suggest that you get something from a local headshop ,or if you are find with waiting directly from DHgate and ask the seller to declare it under below customs limits (which is 14$ where i am.) .

Love the power adapter @Prolusio was showing off, great look that fits with everything else. I'm debating between going after the 2 battery model or a power adapter. I keep thinking I'll probably end up with both eventually anyway.

Also I'm looking forward to trying out the new firmware, I haven't updated in awhile.

My Tubo Evic has arrived and is waiting for me to head home from dinner in the next 2 hours or so! Can folks give me some initial setup / best practice tips? I intend to get this thing rolling hard for the beginning of my annual 10 day horror movie binge this evening.

Vapefiend has some stuff here that might work. Hitting it dry would cool considerably.

Also if you have a Hydrobrick Maxx mouthpiece laying around I highly recommend anyone with a Tubo or Milaana try it. Super smooth and no heat for me.
