now i'm starting to understand... you're definitely not using the device as you should. It could be that black cloud on your avatar:rofl:

This is not a session vape. This mode is only for ease of use on bongs and similar things.
Takes a lot of power to keep the button pressed for several seconds?? :hmm:...:doh:It looks like you want to stick the whole button inside! It gives a slight click when pressed... it is with little force and only until it vibrates and during the hit! in my case never more than 5/10 sec
and you're probably putting too many greens and pressing them too hard...that's what I think
It’s interesting because "session mode" is often described as a feature for taking multiple draws or sharing a device with others. This is indeed how many devices explain it. Why do you believe it’s intended for situations where you can’t keep the button pressed? Do you have a source that specifically describes the session mode for the TM device? What’s the difference between a person using the device three times in a row and a bong being used three times in a row? After usage I immediately shut it down.

Indeed, with no timed “auto-off” feature, the session mode will continue to heat and run the battery down. You have to remember to manually turn it OFF…..
Sure. In my opinion, this is a major drawback of the TM. There really should be an auto-off feature to prevent users from accidentally leaving it on. Personally, I always turn it off after taking 3–4 draws. After my final draw, I shut it down immediately. I own several 18650 devices for regular vaping, and none of them lack an auto-off function—even the cheapest ones include this feature.

I never used session mode until I sent my TM2 for repair on a seperate issue. The "improved" button is now harder to press and requires more force to engage. I can't do the bottom of thumb press as described above anymore. I'll still use on demand for native hits, but will use session on bigger hits with a WPA, then triple click to clear out heat and vapor.
I’m accustomed to using many different devices for regular vaping, and none of them have a power button as difficult to press as the one on the TM2 2024 edition.

@Mukmuk, the cells going dead is the most interesting part of this. The energy from that cell has to have been converted to heat, there is no other path for the energy to get out. If it was all turned into heat, why aren't you experiencing heat?

I'm wondering if you have a massive air leak somewhere. When you pull you are getting mixed air cooler than you want. The heat is just collecting in the unit and eventually escaping through the shell. Most units heat up in 10 to 16 seconds depending on ambient temps, there is no way it takes a TM that is at all functional several minutes to get to temperature. If the cells are going dead there must be heating happening somewhere.
I completely agree with you on that issue—the battery's energy must be going somewhere. I also wonder how long the device remains hot after shutting it down. Even with the temperature dial set to 0, it feels like the device gets warmer for a short time after shutting down, and then it stays hot for a very long time.

Update:

Yesterday, I started using the capsules without the lid on top, and I’ve noticed a slight improvement in both flavor and vapor production. I exchanged also the red o-ring. The battery life has increased a bit, lasting for about 1.5 bowls now.

Could the issue actually be the opposite of what I initially thought? Perhaps the device is operating at a higher temperature than it should? For me, level 7 is already slightly too hot, but at the same time, it doesn’t seem to work as intended at settings below 6. On other devices I can go easily to 210°C without noting anything like hot devices or too hot air.

Try again with no capsule.

I sometimes find the vapor from the tm quite aggressive, but this is partly due to the stem. The stem with the glass beads cools the best and you don't notice the heat.

If you use the dosing capsule, the first two puffs are very gentle, as the capsule takes away heat, but this comes into play later, from the third or fourth puff it only gives off heat, where you usually switch off. But there is still the energy consumption of the battery.

Try to understand how TM works...It's really that cloud in front of your eyes??:bang:
For me:myday: your TM is working fine, you can send it back but you are the one who is not doing things right and not doing what has already been suggested. So many people have told you not to use capsules and what you did was take the cap off!!:mental::puke:
Man! forget the capsule, don't put too many greens and don't compact it! go watch some videos

I see TM2 is quite popular on here and probably for good reason.

In this tear down on Vape Guy web site i have some questions: https://vapeguy.com/tinymight-2-teardown/

Could some kind owner of the TM2 please provide me with the dimensions of the Glass bucket (dosing capsule?) , What do you call it?
I know if the new ones they use some zirconia material. Anyone notice a difference? I always started with the assumption that nothing was so pure than using Quartz to start with.

your TM is working fine, you can send it back but you are the one who is not doing things right
A little aggressive today?

Look, the TM2 works fine in session mode, it puts out amazing clouds with capsules (even with the top on) and it doesn't play dead below level 6. And it can do all three at once.

Oh, it also doesn't suck down a battery per bowl.

Go watch some videos. 😁

100% agree on these points. Although I've only used session mode twice (just to make sure I knew how to enable it if I ever wanted to), if the TM2 is working normally, anything above #4 on the dial should produce noticeable vapor whether in session or on-demand mode. As long as it's not packed so tight that the vapor can't make it out. And that has already been debunked, so I'd say send it in.

Peese!

The picture in that link is wrong and is confusing you.
The part that he points out as "New (zirconia)" is NOT new and it's NOT Zirconia but it actually is the metal (SS) insert that sits on top of the heater and surrounds the stem. That part used to be glass in the OG TM but has been changed to the SS-insert in TM2. This part can easily be taken out by removing the aluminium ring, in the top panel, and the o-ring that hold it in place.

The actual new part sits in the bottom of the device: it's the tube around the heater. It was glass, now changed to zirconia (only in purple heart editions afaik) and you can't see that part from the outside. It's the bottom glass tube that can be seen in his pictures of the heater/vaporpath, and was changed to Zirc to make it more durable/fallproof.

It's a bit strange to me that he thinks the metal tube in the PH is the new zirconium part since he removed that same metal part from the device he just tore down (check his pictures of the vaporpath) but he seems to have forgotten already?
lol

Anywayz: if you prefer a quartz tube around the heater then just buy a Walnut TM2...

Many devices are session conduction hybrids, not pure convection on demand like this... Using it in session mode is a different experience, compared to V3 pro, that one is a bit more versatile, where it can be used on demand convection, or as more session hybrid... TM2 is still pretty pure convection on demand, that's why the session mode is not really the same type of session mode, more of an auto fire holding the button down for you keeping the heater running, but the heater is still designed in such a way for more pure convection, more space, compared to something like V3P (which you are more used to?) that's what we mean

I have to quote you again because I’ve rethought the two concepts of session and demand mode:

You’re absolutely right. Thanks for pointing that out—it resolved several issues, especially with the heat of the device and the rapid battery drain.

The session mode (or let’s call it the “hands-free mode”) is best suited for situations where you’re only using it for one intake or when you want to hand it to someone unfamiliar with the device. It’s designed for short, direct usage with consistent airflow.

The on-demand mode, on the other hand, is the better choice for regular usage where you want to take breaks between intakes without turning the device off completely. This mode provides heat only for a short time, paired with airflow.

I only hope I haven’t damaged anything by using the wrong mode a few times. I had it switched on in session mode, took 2–3 intakes with a 30-second pause between each, and then switched it off.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. That’s exactly what came to mind after I rethought the two concepts. The manual didn’t explain it in a way that made it this clear, but yes, I completely agree with you.

Yeah it's unfortunate that many manufacturers have used on demand and session mode as names for feature settings, implying it changed the function of the vape to be the most versatile, however it is actually pretty misleading (this is an on-demand vape with its own version of a session mode, there are other session vapes with their own version of on demand, neither are the same as each other at all really)

It is probably fine, there are many people who do use session mode in a different way, even with capsules, not something I am interested in at all given everything I know about the device and my experience, but my own preferences in usage styles... The thing that really bothers me, is that there's no way to clear the heat, but also the vapor, if you leave it running with session mode, best use is to take the hit, let go of the button to power down the heater, but keep inhaling so you can fully clear the vapor and heat from the device each time... This would be the most efficient use and keep things the most pristine imo (even more so when I use upside down, and I like the vapor so much better with the simple open WPA and a nice hook or a U-turn stem ideally as well)

To me, it was quite misleading at first. But now I’ve understood the basic concept.

Interesting. This is something I’m used to doing with my regular vapes because I always want to clear the vapor from the airpath to prevent condensation over time. So, I’ve been doing the same with the TM.

@Mukmuk
First of all, I apologize if I was aggressive, I just wanted to give you a shake regarding how to use your TM. I think from the beginning that there is nothing wrong with it, for some of the things you described... sometimes people don't read all the details...
I love this device and I want everyone to love it.
It's an on-demand steam machine so efficient that it wears out the greens before we can call it a session. and you can't put more greens because there always has to be a good airflow

A little aggressive today?
:shrug:maybe?
Look, the TM2 works fine in session mode
What is a session for you? How long does it take? How long does it take for the coil to be ready to vape?
Go watch some videos. 😁

I can't add anything else
To me, it was quite misleading at first. But now I’ve understood the basic concept.
