TinyMight / TM 2

When I put a battery into my tiny might, it instantly turns on, goes to max temperature. How can I fix this? 😭
You put the battery into the device and it switches on immediately? This cannot have anything to do with silent mode. This would switch off the vibration on the TM1 and the LED on the TM2. At first I thought you had accidentally changed the temperature adjustment, but it would not explain the battery behavior.

Interesting phenomenon that I can't explain....

My glass sleeve has been broken on this one anyway for a long time I'm surprised the interior stayed together. If I cleaned that stuff, it would have fallen apart anyway. I had a tiny portion cracked off, and huge cracks.
Which sleeve was broken? The one around the heater?
And for how long has it been like that?
(You are not worried about glass dust/pieces? Or that the glass suddenly collapses?)

Very strange that it switches on by itself (you mean it goes on without clicking it 3 times)?
You usually use it in on demand mode or in session? Sounds like it's somehow stuck in session mode (and maxed out)? Does the light stay on instead of blinking? White lights? PCB problem perhaps?

I agree with @Pib that the behaviour you describe is pretty strange, i've read thru the whole thread (yeah, don't ask
:D
) but i can't recall reading something similar like your issues.
Very curious what the diagnosis from the TM-people will be, sure hope they can fix it for you(i suppose they will).
Also hope that you'll update when you receive news from TM 'cause i really wonder what happened/what is wrong with it for it to act like it does.!

Good luck and hopefully you'll receive your backup device soon!

Hey - I tried searching before posting but looking for these specific terms come up with a lot of results and after looking for a bit, I didn't see anything so....I'm posting

Has anyone else's TM2 started shorting batteries at random? It's my secondary vape as I roll with a FW9 as my primary, but I still use it quite a bit as I'm a medical user. Every 3-4 battery swaps or so, it will just randomly short out the battery when I hold the button down to turn on the heater/take a hit. I cycle through 8 batteries on 2 vapes (with chargers in multiple locations!) so I cannot tell if it's one specific battery causing the issue or the vape itself.

I can't recall seeing anything on reddit about this being a thing and I'm wondering if I should submit a warranty claim or work harder at figuring out if it's a battery issue or not. I've had it since...well...forever? When they first came out. I havent had any issues with it til just the past month or so.

I'm pretty gentle on my gear - it's not like I take it out hiking and to clubs and stuff. I'm in my 40s and arthritic with IBD so...I tend to stay close to home. ;)

Can you elaborate please? If you're experiencing a short circuit that could be very dangerous! I imagine the device would get hot quickly. I also would expect the problem with every battery if you actually have a short.

Can I recommend you mark your batteries and pay attention to which one causes the issue? I like to label mine with 2 digits. Each time I order a new load of cells I mark them all with the same first number, the second number identifies each cell from that batch. 1.1, 1.2 , 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 etc...

You could mark the battery that gives a problem to see if it's the battery.

When i read shorting out i was like :o but i guess you mean that it turns off instead of heating up?
It's just the battery loosing it's power imho. I've had that too with some of my oldest batteries.

I also would expect the problem with every battery if you actually have a short.
Yeah, that's why i think it's not shorting out... You would recognize a battery after it shorted out i guess?
;)
And wouldn't there be damage to both battery and device in case of an actual short?

Maybe it's not a short! IDK what it is, honestly.

The light will show I have plenty of charge left - it happens at different times - sometimes the battery is still green or blue! The vape will just Chirp at me, the light flashes and it just dies. Of course, it's usually when I'm outside with a full load and ready to hit it and I have to run inside and swap them out.

I guess perhaps it *is* the battery and I just haven't been paying enough attention. It's annoying AF because I just retired my 2 year old set and bought 8 fresh ones when I upgraded to the FW9 at the end of the summer. These are all brand new P28As from IMR. BAH!

Thanks.

Details! ;)

Somehow, I suspect you're not shorting your 18650 or you would know it. It would spark at least. And at most it would do this...

18650 batteries need to be treated with respect. As Fire Marshal Mike used to say, they're like having a little bomb in your pocket.

Yeah, as @666Honeybadger said it's just one bad battery. Mark them individually, and get rid of the bad one. You could try a very slow charge if you have the ability but it might not be worth it.

Thank fuck it's not AV actual short!

I think the lowest I have is .50 on any of my chargers. That’s what I generally use (a couple of them also have 1.0 and 2.0).

I’ve been using 18650s for a long time. I know how to use them and how to treat them. I am a follower of mooch from Reddit and the old e-cigarette sub. I guess I’ve just been distracted as fuck. In midst of being dx with probably Crohns that has been ignored by doctors because “it’s in your head” due to my PTSD dx for over a decade…which itself has been triggering my original trauma being ignored by my mom um so it’s all been a blurry um.

Yeah. So I used the wrong word. It’s not a short.

It’s probably a battery issue not a device issue.

Thank you. Going forward, I will try to be more cautious and track batteries so I can find the bad one.

Why? It's definitely under warranty still.
Isn't the warranty only three years? I purchased in 2020 I think.

Either way, by the time I send it back and get a new one, that's going to be days without any vape, and I can't use my newvape at my current place.

I wanted two anyway, specifically because of this. I'll just send the broken one in afterwards. Vgoodiez looks like they'll ship soon, I already got a shipping label from them.

The warranty back in 2020 was 10 years. Also this indicates this was an OG TM. I wonder if you may have inadvertently put the battery in backwards once. The TM didn't have reverse polarity protection back then. However I have seen this fix covered under warranty a couple of times on the this thread.

Makes sense. Definitely send it in for warranty service, it's well worth it.

Hello FC family. I have a quick question. My TM2 has cooled down overtime. I would just turn the temperature up more and more but now I’m at 10 and it needs to be adjusted. With my TM original, I knew there was a sequence that I could do to make it hotter? Is there anyone that knows the sequence to get this bad boy hitting like it did when I first bought it? I appreciate your help.

First I would suggest you try new battery's. If that still doesn't provide enough power you can calibrate your device. See page #588

I don't think anything has changed in that, that is not the solution to your problem? There's supposed to be a handful of other things you could try, but that was with the original, I'm not sure anyone has had this issue before with the TM2, but it seems to indicate a problem, not a calibration need

I appreciate everyone’s help. I rotate five batteries and it performs the same with all. If the originals Tm is anything like the second version a calibration should help resolve my issue hopefully. Thanks.

Yup it switched on immediately. I was changing the battery and packing a new bowl. I changed the battery. Started packing the bowl, and noticed a smell. I never turned on the device. We're not supposed to smoke in the apartment and the landlord comes over quite often. I just don't understand how it happened, and I couldn't turn it off with the button. I had to open the door and remove the battery.
I'm just happy I caught it in time.

I use it in on demand mode. I actually hadn't been able to get it into session mode for awhile now. I used to use session mode, but since I started using the device again (I been using the desktop newvape flowerpot for awhile now) the session mode wouldn't initiate. Now, the heater is broken, session mode will initiate, but doesn't matter the mode I put it in. I also used the calibration, didn't help either.

The sleeve around the heater was broken. Small chip, and then huge cracks. Everything stays together and doesn't fall apart though.

I read the thread before purchasing. Haven't kept up, haven't seen anyone with this issue.
