Shit, I just broke my j-hook :|. One hand on the glass, the other holding my Tinymight, I balance the bottom of the curve of the glass on my stomach from time to time. Not today, just let it free fall. It was like a car accident on ice, nothing to do but watch the chaos happen. At least I'm medicated now . Time to buy some new glass! I contacted someone local a couple days ago but I'm gonna need to accelerate the process or take @Shit Snacks advice and order something from Oregon Glass Blower.

 damn dude I'm sorry, hate to hear that, sounds like when I broke my green RBT drydo tube as quarantine began in March... Definitely can highly recommend OGB as now I don't miss it quite as much, though I may need to order yet another piece from him like the spiked jayhook that @bossman got... It will take a good few weeks or so probably though, I mean you never know with timing, but I would advise patience when ordering a custom of course. I don't know what kind of j-hook you were using, but I think there is a decent one made by GRAV?

I own a GRAV j-hook and can recommend it.

mv1 crucibles 30 a day but if it is like the mighty, screw dosing caps.... iwill load stem up ....sound right?

so sounds like more stems and CU's

You would be the heaviest user that I know of but with enough batteries and stems I think it's doable. I would be grabbing at least 2 more batteries, an extra cooling unit and at least 2 stems (1 short 1 long maybe) and a Grav Labs 3" Upline Taster. Then you have a good variety of stems to use and clean. An external battery charger would also be a must.

Mine was a cheapo at least, I would have been heart broken to drop a drydo tube. Did you talk to OGB about making one? I missed out on those beauties.

I would definitely get something like @bossman posted. I was thinking of cooling spikes on a piece like https://oregonglassblower.com/14mm-GLASS-J-HOOK-Female-Curved-14jhfc.htm in the hopes I could one hand it. Maybe that's not a good idea  .

@jbm I've heard good things about the Grav Labs j-hook but they're hard to source in Canada.

Someone else made a cooling j-hook but I'm drawing a blank.

Did you see the OGB customs that I posted as well? Yes I had him make the bent spiky 18mm female piece to help replace the d tube and also be like a Lamart spiked bendy that can be used with any vape with a wpa (mine is about 4 in with 5 spikes, boss man's is I think 7 in with 7 spikes? Also mine is only 12 mm diameter mouthpiece and his is 15 mm) I am not sure if he can make one that is actually like the original drydro tube, with the big flat cooling fins, but if you were to draw a good diagram for him I bet he can, he works well off diagrams and prefers them for customs if possible (price should be about $45 but could be more depending on the piece complexity) I got the j hook you listed, but I had it modified so it's basically three right angles and a different mouthpiece, those bends might work even better than cooling spikes!

Lamart? I have one of his too, like it a lot.
The Stempod guy has a cooling hook but it’s 18mm male.

Lamart had the $10 mini j hook in 18 mm female, I have one in amber glass that I love and was using all the time before I got my OGB customs, but they don't have any spikes and now it looks like he only has them with a male joint instead... Lamart also had the long bent stems that customized by glasscharlie with cooling spikes and colored embellishments on the outside too, now they have the mini spiked bendy stems and spiked glass inserts for wooden stems.

Yeah I think squirrelmaster is thinking of the stem pod coolest j-hook but you're correct it was also 18mm male not female

Not sure what you mean by that, the screen is flat.

If you look at the screen, the rim is visibly thicker on one side. That thick side faces up, towards the stem.

thx, got it now! when I push the screen back into the rim, it sticks out a little on the other side (the thick one), thats what I meant by "pointing". not a native speaker, sorry for the confusion

I dont think he was looking for the manual but the “hidden” override function of being able to set your temperatures up or down a whole scale in case your heater runs cooler or hotter than spec.
Thanks and sorry bout that ... I just started looking for another convection vape and am considering the TinyMight given all the great things said in this thread ... thanks again for steering me right ...

The screen mod is the one @dzoinp came up with which uses a mistvape screen above the heater screen so you get a gap automatically when you push your stem in. I haven't tried it personally but I haven't had issues with debris on the flat stock screen and if i need to do more then blow it out it comes out really easily.
I listed a few details of my @dzoinp mod in this post. Highly recommended. 4 months in, and I've yet to even touch the heater screen or the rimmed basket screen that's part of the mod. I just blow out the few crumbs occasionally after I pull the stem. Here's a view of the mod and some crumbs:
dzoinp1.jpg

And here's how I have my short stem assembled - with a second screen right above the CU screen to keep the flower dust/crumbs from collecting on it.
dzoinp4.jpg

Note the amount of space between the flower and the end of the stem. This is for the mod's bucket screen (from the first photo) to sit in when the stem is inserted, keeping the flower a comfortable distance from the heater. Showing a spare rimmed screen here (this is NOT the rimmed screen that's part of the mod - it's just to show how the one that IS part of the mod fits into the stem when it's inserted).
dzoinp2.jpg

And here's how that bucket screen fits when the stem is inserted. Hmmm, looks like I could fit a lot more flower in there:

@SquirrelMaster i finally got an order in with OGB yesterday for a couple custom j hooks w/ cooling dimples. Took 2 months from initially email to receive the Paypal invoice so as @Shit Snacks suggested to me last week just need to have some patience especially if you want a non standard design. I think if it’s straight forward the turn around would be quicker. Mike said he would make them in a day and send priority the following. I ended up sending him a pic and drew some sketches on it to personalize what I was looking for. Each piece was $55 and paid 8.75 USD for shipping.

From the look of that I would think the rim on the screen would lead to the screen coming off each time it is pulled out of the device...

Not quite following you. The "loose" screen in the last pictures is just for demonstrating the fit. The rimmed screen for the actual mod is secured to the heater screen in the bottom of the stem tube. It doesn't come out.

@dzoinp supplied some great pics on how it's secured.

(added an extra note to that picture above to clarify)

I could be wrong, but I believe the screen replaces the OEM heater screen. So thats permanently fixed in the device.

The screen in the pic is just shown as a mock up so we can see how it fits inside the device.

Edit: Oops, should have let @scooterboy respond!

I used that curved one in 18mm as the starting point for my custom j-hook designs too yeah. I had one done as more of a long corn cob pipe and the other with the scientific bends like the stock one he sells so I can use my bulkier Zs without holding the big vape up at forehead height.

Hey @dzoinp did you make that stem cap yourself? It looks like a drilled out cork to me, can you provide any details? This is exactly the type of thing that I like on my stems but I mainly use silicone caps, what you have looks way nicer to me and I would love to hear more about it.

Cheers.

It was posted a bunch of pages back. It is a drilled (actually, I think it was technically dremelled, but you get me) cork.

Where did you find/buy the corkand what size is it? I want a wide straight one, not tapered. Who would’ve thunk there are cork sizes. Just need a few not dozens in case I mess it up attempting to drill it out. I know you used a Dremel and I don’t have one but lots of drill bits (and drill) and I think I could do with just that in attempting this. Love the stirrer option too but I’ll leave that out. I just want a good cover for the short stem.

On a T break today and it’s a VERY long work day too. Slight Tinymight withdrawal, lol. Thankfully tomorrow is Friday. Cheers. :peace:

I have no idea where this cork came from ... I found it here at home and I still haven't found another one of this diameter. I believe it's from a 3lt wine bottle ...
The strirring option ... with the fine screen of the crafty in front of the cooling unit, I have no need to strirr! * But when I do it, is rotate the stem upside down which completely releases the greens(browns) and mixes them well, not clogging the screen. It's just a pin stuck in the cork, which makes it adjustable to any bowl size.

*I have a new theory ... As this screen has the finest mesh, it allows a more uniform vapor flow, without the tunnel effect ... is that it?

Those of you who needed repair support, how long did it take you to get a reply?

I wrote to him 2 weeks ago and I only got one automatic reply saying they are sorry they can't reply right now.

Is the owner known for not answering his emails?

Been a bit over a month with no response for me. Send an email every week. I communicated with him way back in march and he was much more responsive.
