Thermal Twist Ball-less Injector Vape

Got to try mine last night and I like it!
The microdose bowl does kill .05 pretty perfectly. I went for 565° F.

Next I tried the hybrid bowl. I kept the temperature the same, definitely a lighter roast. I think turning it up will provide a better extraction.

I’m still exploring the setup but so far enjoying it.

I was also just about to jump in this thread and complain about my glass joint breaking in half when I went to remove it for cleaning.

Between the Ruby Twist Ti bowl and the 2 Vapvana bowls, I'm starting to wonder if this hybrid bowl design is just really shit.

I can't even get the bit of glass out to replace it with a different joint to keep using it, I think it's going to need a hammer and maybe a chisel.

14mm sits really tight, there is no movement when I try to rotate or pull. So that's why I'm asking.
I assume it just goes straight , and there is no lock. But not sure gow to do it and don't break the glass.

Seems like the screen removal is much easier than removing the glass. For cleaning it's enough for me, just a gentle toothpick push.

That's the main complaint I have right now, cleaning of titanium bowl could be easier.

Yes, I would agree. Got my Ruby Twist head a week ago. Get a very gentle twist, and I mean gentle but it's hard to notice. No complaints from me though! Lower temps get lovely terpy hits and when you then crank it up a bit you get lovely clouds and like you say....hits like a truck! A little stir compensates for lack of twist action.
How coarse/fine is your grind? I switched to a finer grinds and the bud spinz nicely now.

More notes after some use:

1) Would appreciate 100% glass bowls. Screen is not a lot, but it's always some metal that could be avoided
2) Would appreciate easier to clean bowls. Glass one, or microdise glass one is possible to clean with cottonstick, but it would be much easier if I could just open it in half and clean
3) Quality of the glass could be higher, or just thicker. I managed to break the plug for microbowl dropping from 50cm on the wood floor.
4) Quality of the added brush could be higher. Its rough, metal band was loose from the begining.
5) I still did not manage to remove 14 to 18mm glass adapter in the titanium bowl. Its jut too tight, I'm too afraid to break the glass. Will be just removing the filter for cleaning, not the perfect sollution.
6) Handle could be nicer, it feels cheap

Apart from that, I'm impressed. If you are ok with stationary vape its worth taking a look. I keep using it on 295C for smooth draw and thick clouds. 2-4min from start to use, I just start it before grinding. It's hard to go back to pocket my vape tbh.

Great notes dude. Full agree. Got mine 2 months ago. Loving it. I have had great success with an “espresso and coffee machine cleaning brush” with natural bristles. The paticular one I have is from a brand called “Garemi”

Appreciate the notes Piecho. Just grabbed the bundle yesterday. Seems like the micro bowl has been a hit.

Can anyone confirm the Vgoodiez version of the micro dose bowl is listed on their site as "Adjustable Diffuser Pass-Through Chamber by Crossing Technology"? [Edit: Jay from Vgoodiez confirmed]

My Ruby Twist /Ti Twist is finally complete (for now) with a handle from Ali. So much more sturdy. The silicone is a nice idea but needs to be more rigid, I would even sleeve a wood dowel with that silicone grip and it would be amazing, especially as an OEM

How are you enjoying the handle. Any other accessories to recommend for the twist?

Image of leather snap tray and Garemi espresso machine brush ć Ruby Twist

These are two accessories I have really found useful.
The leather snap tray comes in a set of two for around 10$. Great for added protection from the hot coil. The one pictured is the small one.
This Garemi brush, imho, works better than just using the one included for cleaning the included bowl. It’s was about $14.

I for one, do not love the micro dose bowl. It works well but I rarely want a small bowl. I find it scorches easier and I like to lightly vape my bud because I tend to make edibles with it.

I would love to find an XL bowl for it actually. Know of any?

I was not a fan of glossy wood surface. I removed the varnish and polished the wood handle. I used coconut oil for the wood infusion. Feels much nicer, didnt take me that long.

Also managed to remove the glass part. I used tiny amount of the coconut oil to moist the gaskets. It is still very tight, put possible to remove for the cleaning, much better.

What a strange company Crossing is. Their partner retailers just casually drop pretty major products that we didn't even know were coming.

A few hours ago I received an email from VGoodies that Crossing has released a really affordable wireless version with a pretty sweet looking docking station. Configurations include flower, concentrates, or both.

This wouldn't have been particularly interesting to me as recently as 6 weeks ago, but as I think I've said previously, their hybrid Ti really changes the capabilities of the device IMO. Previously I would only ever with the microdose bowl. I actually can't think of too many peripheral products that have improved a device so much in the manner that this does.

I did hear they are working on the wireless one, but I thought it is just plan for the future.
Looking forward also to check their new microbowl without sidecarb. I wisk it will be simpler and easier to clean.

Agreed, did you use a solvant or sanding to strip the finish?
I did use 800, 2000 and 3000 sandpapers I had left from another project. I sanded it dry, trying to remove the varnish and then silky smooth the surface.

CT seems interested in remaining behind the scenes. They are focused on developing products with feedback from their partners (RVS, Divine Tribe, myself and some others) then just let us handle the promotion side.

We are really excited about this dock system and are thrilled to be able to offer it at such an affordable price.

Am back using this today after deep clearing the micro dose bowl. I use it at 320C and do a 1-2 hits thew a small bong with no water.

Not used this in several months due to buying several other vapes.

This is the Ruby Twist version.

Corded CT Ruby Twist bundle (hybrid Ti + Glass bowl, PID, stand) Review

Tl;DR – Good value basic ball vape for flower. Look elsewhere for boutique/craft or bleeding edge components or for concentrate specific needs. New ball vapers be prepared for space, workflow and storage reqs, and to not get grabby with hot bowls .

For background, I’ve been a cannathusiest since the late 80s and on-and-off vape’er since the early aughts. About a year ago I got back into vaping (healty rips rogue) and simultaneously discovered how much industry has grown in terms of consumption methods. ]

Overall concept - this was my first ball vape - is great. Really appreciate the ability to electronically control temps across or even within sessions to experience more or less flavor/vapor using relatively healthy materials. As others have pointed out the ‘twist’ of air channeled by the head is a nice idea and does work somewhat (a finer grind and drier material may give better results) but I wouldn’t look to this as being a killer feature or differentiator. Workflow was relatively easy to pick up and, with the coil guard ON, I have been less concerned about the heat than I thought I’d be. The amount of space needed and sheer number of pieces parts is new to me and sometimes annoying but really just reinforces the distinction between ‘desktop’ and portable products.

Bundle cost at 180-200 felt about right for what’s in the box and given a basic understanding alternative ball vape products.

Wired (vs wireless) - I have yet to use wireless for comparison however as something that is likely to be a ‘desktop’ product (vs portable) for me either way, I never felt like the cord was in the way or that my workflow/experience was constrained.

Ti Bowl...
  • Decently secure connection from the injector head
  • Great that the rubies are preinstalled, and head is ‘coiled’… From a sealed box I was up and running in under 5 minutes
  • I Would prefer glass or solid Ti screen over the steel screen it came with
  • I assume the rubber gaskets are glued somehow to the head? but would prefer they be recessed.
  • Broke the glass joint (my fault) on day 3 but there is enough there to still be usable.
  • I would prefer the glass joint to include a carb of some sort and would advise anyone
  • I would prefer a Ti joint option in addition to the 14mm glass joint, over the 18mm joint which I cant use (and 14mm male to 18mm fem is not easy to find locally)
  • I found replacing the screen a bit tricky as the 18mm glass joint head only barley suffices to keep it in place.
  • I found the area between the screen and the lip of the ti bowl collected quite a bit of residue that was tricky to get off with soap and water and I am hesitant to try anything else given how close the area is to the rubber gaskets
  • Wood handle is short but functional

Glass injector style Bowl...
  • Decently thick
  • Carb is great
  • Plenty of space between injector head and flower when using
  • Appears you can move the metal screen up which I have yet to try
  • I would prefer a glass screen over metal
  • I would prefer a more secure connection from injector head
  • I wonder if a Ti or other metal piece could fit around the lip of the glass bowl head to A) provide a more secure connection that is more applicable for heat soaking and or B) provide a recessed tray for concentrates.

Micro-dose style bowl (purchased separately)
  • Broke it on day 2 – totally my fault, was a 2-4” drop
  • Recall the connection from the injector head to be quite good/secure.
  • If the standard injector bowl allows for 2 screen positions then I'd stick with that over this unless you really really dont vape much material

The rest
  • Heat up and down times using the CrossingTech PID was fast and subjectively accurate
  • Coil handle seems to be heatshrink over foam. Its actually quite comfy however be aware that it can start to unscrew itself relatively easily which can make securing it to the bowl head more difficult. As others have mentioned, there are great replacement handles in wood etc.. that I could pickup that may feel more secure
  • Brush felt cheap but I appreciate that it was included and found it more useful once I realized you could adjust the metal piece up or down around the hairs to achieve a tighter or looser fit respectively.
  • Stand was perfectly adequate for holding the vape and keeping heat away from surfaces. I found it easy to hang/balance the vape with the stand facing toward or away from me which was helpful with sharing sessions.
  • Scoop was handy and a good (if not a smidge large) dose but the metal edges are particularly sharp on mine
  • Braided cord is great over rubber/heatshrink and was plenty long for my needs. Really digging the gooseneck idea tho and may look for a posable alternative.
  • My glass rig - (10” base to mouth, but on the thinner side) was a bit front heavy with the vape sitting on the bowl (and coil guard on), requiring that I hold the base to prevent tipping.

What’s next for me… well, I at least need a replacement 18-> 14 glass joint for the Ti and may replace the screens and handle. Additionally, while I do enjoy stacking concentrates on flower, I also enjoy them solo and am therefore looking into goosenecks and coil options including new offerings from Crossing Tech and others. This also makes a wireless heater more interesting to me personally in that I may be able to make out with a single hot hole for both devices.

I would get them to email Matt to find out if he can work anything out for them. They have the us 110v version, so just need to find a coil of the correct voltage... I bet he could sort your friend out 👍
