I absolutely agree with
@imterwebuserguy about self service of batteries, though I've not done it myself. I believe it could be achieved for under $100, including the soldering iron, and would be oh, so gratifying.
I've been closely following this (and Crafty) thread for over 2 years, i.e., since before any of these had expired warranty, and I've yet to see/hear of anyone actually getting a unit "serviced." Even when it's been called service, S&B always just sends a new replacement unit.
I'd love to hear about any exceptions to this experience!
