In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king
The amount of information about rechargeable batteries and chargers is enough to drive me to drink! Ok..maybe it wasn't a long drive ...
I have been graciously provided info directly here so I will return the favor. I also used the FC search, Amazon reviews and a few other sites. With the exception of the battery charger I believe everything else can be found here in varying degrees:
- Best battery - New MFLB Glyphs (logo on cap and bottom of battery) - Hybrid between LSD and HSD but tend toward the LSD side. Produced specifically for the good folks who produce the MFLB.
- Charger - Maha C9000 deemed best in most reviews BUT if you reach out to Amazon you'll find a review on the Opus BT-C2000 by a well respected charger engineer dude who has stated that the C2000 combined the best features of several chargers including the Maha C9000 at a lower price point. http://www.amazon.com/BT-C2000-char...TF8&qid=1425414341&sr=8-1&keywords=opus+c2000
- Other Batteries - Powerex Imedion 2400 are LSD (Low Self Discharge) decent replacement and will hold 85% of the charge for a year. Powerex 2700 are HSD (High Self Discharge) decent replacement and are expected to provide 20% more time to use after charging BUT unlike a LSD battery they will not sit longer than 3 days before they begin to lose their charge.
I purchased 2 sets of new Glyphs from PIU (4 batts total), the Opus BT-C2000 and a 4 pack of the Imedions. I didn't buy the 2700s because I prefer not to wonder how long its been since they were charged when in rotation.
The BT C2000, like the Maha C9000, has battery refresh capability which means I may be able to restore some of the capabilities that my current Glyphs lost after 8 months. If they can be refreshed and hold a decent charge again I may have 12 batteries in rotation soon.
Please use the information provided here for good and not evil.
