Pics and videos do not do this thing justice it is ridiculously small I'm talking miniscule. I have run one trench so far and I think that it definitely lives up to my expectations. I filled a trench about the same that I use in my surfer. I then popped in the battery and started surfing. I went through 2 batteries on one trench one probably would have been sufficient but I wanted to get all i could out of my weed. I felt the trench was spent but I noticed that there was still a lot of green left. I heated up the surfer threw it in my wand and I got another 6-8 solid hits off of it. Not my technique may be way off but its nice to know I can just save my duff and revape it later. I think I'm going to start to go native on the unit as if the battery is in too long it seems like the little glass stem gets pretty hot but not enough to do damage just enough to be annoying. all in all I am super happy with my purchase although I don't feel this will find a regular rotation with the surfer it's nice to know I have it in a pinch or if I'm out and about. Oh and kudos to blissville I ordered my launchbox thursday afternoon and I had it yesterday(Monday) with 2 charged batteries and a note that said my unit is ready to go enjoy. I brought a trench with me to work today I think I'm going to do it at panera when I get my breakfast.
Later,
Tom

Update I love this thing I'm sitting in my office I've been on the same battery for about 11 or 12 solid hits. I think there are a few more in there. I have got to say this thing is super efficient I am feeling pretty good right now and 2/3 of my trench is still nice and green slow and steady wins the race for Minnie(my launch boxes new name I think it's fitting)

The Box is a wonderful thing, isn't it. :D

Did you stir up the load (or use the invert-and-shake-and-reinvert method) every two or three hits? If not, you may find that you can get more from each load, more easily, if you do. You'll get better battery life as well, because you don't need to leave the battery in for longer and longer times as the load gets more and more used up. The fully spent part nearest the screen starts to act like an insulator from the still green part on the top and center of the load. I almost never see "a lot of green left" unless I don't stir/shake the load at all.

haywood,

I'm shaking the box after every hit. I'm at work :ninja: but maybe I'm not grounding it up fine enough but I'm still on the same trench and battery and I'm still getting decent hits out of it. I'm thoroughly happy right now. I keep debating switching out the batt but I'm still getting decent hits. I am also just taking like 10 second breaths real slow draw(almost like I'm letting the vapor push itself into my lungs) and I think this box is doin pretty well :D

What voltage are the batteries the LB comes with ?
Has anyone tried to use a slightly higher voltage battery for a bit more ooomph ?
BTW - if anyone needs batteries consider shopping at RC flying shops or web-sites - Tower Hobbies is a good one.

I looked at Tower Hobbies but didnt' see any NiMH individual batteries, just packs with installed power leads. AFAIK Thomas Distributing has the best selection and pricing.

The stock batteries are tenergy 1.2 V here is an faq on batteries
Deep Fried how are the powerex working for?
How well are the batteries that come with the Energizer 15 min charger holding up?
Max Ive read through this entire thread and there really isnt a consensus as to the best performing battery do you have an opinion.

well minnie and I have spent the last 2 days together at work and I am in love. This thing is great. I can leave it on my desk turned around so all you can see is the Love is quotes and it gets no attention what so ever. I close the door a bit take a couple of hits and then back to the internet.

I've been partial to Powerex and Sanyo. They always seem to be top rate performers. Here's a couple of battery rating tests showing how some different brands compare.

http://www.imaging-resource.com/ACCS/BATTS/BATTS.HTM This is more out of date (2005?) than the next link, but has some good charger info too.

http://www.users.on.net/~mhains/Reviews.html This site has the Sanyo 2500 (top rated) rated higher than the 2700, and a 4 pack of 2500s is a bargain at Thomas Distributing-only $8.57.

What about in regards to the best fit as well though. I think i remember reading either in this thread or in the the beta thread that some batteries fit better than others. From what I'm reading powerex seems to be the bet. Haven't seen may post from users using sanyo. have to check them out. Thx for the battery info that ll help a lot. Cant wait for my LB.

I've been recommending (and using) the Sanyo 2000 mAh low self discharge Eneloop AA cells. While they don't have quite as much capacity as the standard Sanyo's (or PowerEx), they also don't loose 10% of their charge every week while sitting in your kit bag. This can make a big difference if you normally carry eight batteries, but rarely get to the last two to four. After a month of sitting in your kit, standard NiMH cells will barely have half their capacity left, and you have to remember to top them off all the time. The low self discharge Eneloops also do very well at the huge discharge rates (~10 amps) the Box can draw. They're about $10 for four, including a "free" four cell plastic carrier, at Thomas Distributing. In any case, I agree with your observation that Sanyo and PowerEx cells are probably the best on the market; they are both one of the few companies that actually give you accurate mAh ratings.

As far as what to use to charge your NiMH cells, I have two recommendations. If you have the money to afford to buy a bunch of AA cells (more than four, maybe eight or twelve), then you should be using a charger that doesn't supply more than about 1 C to the cells (in this case, about 2000 mA). It will take a little over an hour to charge your batteries, but you will get more charge/discharge cycles out of them than you will if you charge them any faster. If you only have two to four batteries, then waiting a minimum of an hour to recharge them may not be the best for you, in which case the best "super fast" charger I've used is the Energizer 15 minute charger. This one pumps almost 6000 mA into each cell, which will charge them in a little over 15 minutes. They will get very hot while charging, even though there is a fan built into the Energizer 15 minute charger. The tradeoff is that you will only get perhaps 50% of the number of charge/discharge cycles pumping 6 amps into a AA cell, as the constant overheating every time you charge them takes its toll.

Personally, I use a MaHa (PowerEx) MH-C9000 charger, which I feel is the very best of the AA chargers you can buy (without going to a multi-thousand dollar industrial charger). I also have lots and lots of AA cells, so I don't need to be able to charge up in 15 minutes. I pack the Energizer 15 minute charger when I'm traveling and haven't brought a bag of batteries with me. :)

Oh, and when you're using the Energizer 15 minute fast charger, you want to be careful you don't put fully charged (or almost fully charged) cells into the charger. They will get extremely hot before the charger stops charging them, and you can ruin a cell in no time (a few cycles) if you keep doing this.

Something else that hasn't been discussed much (as is just mentioned by umpnum14 as I write this) is the difference in diameters of different brand AA cells, and how that effects usage with the Box. The cells that are supplied with the Energizer 15 minute charger have a smaller diameter than most other cells I've tried, for example, though they seem to work fine in the four production Boxes I've bought for my friends. They're a little loose, but they still seem to make good contact with the Boxes terminals. The cells provided by Magic-Flight are a great fit, not too loose and not too tight, as are most of the other brand AA cells I've tried.

OMFG Bliss shipped it from CA Mon I have it today (AL) and this thing is so so small. I love it. I cant wait to try it out later on.

Haywood thx so much for your input. Im leaning towards the powerex only because of the charger/battery bundles

I'm starting to lean towards this vape over the VG. The VG seems like more of an activity though, when stealth isn't an issue. I like that about the VG, yet the ability to use the LB almost anywhere, and only have to change batteries (vs filling lighters) seems to more than make up for it. I guess it just has to do with always seeing my friends light a J, or a bowl, it just seems more familiar that way.

Ok so i tried it out tonight and while I realize there its lots to learn about the simple device I must admit I am very happy with my purchase. I really wish this had been around just a few months ago. I have really been looking for a vape with this stealth. Personally if I was in college this would be the shit to use. Nobody is gonna think twice about a college kid with a few rechargeables laying around the dorm. And the fact they don't have the skin is easily passed off by simply stating you got them at a good price from a wholesaler on ebay. The LB itself with the battery and stems separate would not raise any suspicious eyebrows (so long as its kept clean).
Something im gonna try is using this
ANN1342_l.jpg
to basically make keif out of the weed and put that in the trench. The idea being it exposes more area to greater heat. Plus it would make sense that you would get a greater effect from even a gentle shake when the bud is like flour.
Basically I take weed that I have grinded up already for my home session and run it through the sifter for my LB stash. Personally I don't have a clue as to it will make a difference. But hey it cant hurt and i could learn something.

Check out this thread, others have tried kif and oils. I think the consensus is not to do it. Magic Flight makes another box for use with oils and resins but it is not meant for ingestion. You can use a straw to inhale the vapor or Magic Flight can modify it by adding a lid an draw hole if there is enough demand for it. Check it out here. http://www.mermadearts.com/product_info.php?cPath=9&products_id=233

I bought 16 Delkin Power 2900mAh's. Better batteries do truly equal better performance. I have had more visible vapor since my new purchase then I every got before, even with Duracell 2650's. Doesn't even compare.

No reece Not for resin or keif but for regular bud run through a sifter to make it kief consistency. The more surface area you expose to the heat the more thc that will be released and thus more efficient. Its the same principle when making cannabutter more surface area exposed to oil in cooking versus more surface area exposed to heat in vaping. Thats all

magicflight, what's a good way to clean the LB attachments? I'm starting to get what looks like some sort of brownish residue on the nub.

give it a quick soak in iso. alc. for no more than 2-3 minutes..after that clean it out with hot water. You should be good to go after that

How do those who own this vape feel about it's use when stealth isn't required? A corded vape is impractical for me at the time. I know many VG owners use theirs at home when they don't feel like waiting for their desktop vape to heat up. Does the LB provide as satisfying vape sessions?

All right lol. Is the vapor itself as good, or better than the VG? Once I get that answer I'm going to ponder, talk to my friends, and make my decicion on which vape I'm going to purchase. Either way the cost will be about the same, and I know I'll enjoy whichever I purchase.

Hey weeples

Im super new to this forum and to vaping( 15 days and counting). Im trying to vape on a budget :2c: and am lookin at the LB. The experiences Ive read up to now are more or less good.

I just really wanted to get away from flame( other wise id get the VG) and bulk. Eventually Ill want something with bigger hits, but thus far stealth, portability and quick use are the major factors in my decision for now.

Im open to any and all suggestions or comments. looks like i stumbled onto a away cool group of like minds

 :peace:
