hi fc! hey HI gang!

first post! seems like a good place here to do so.. :)

so i was lurking until now, really appreciating the high level of discussion, really knowledgeable people, many new facts and views and ideas about a supposedly quite known topic - not forgetting the fun part of it!

i'm on the list, doing the waiting game..

cheers and HI!

Alan, I have a question about the waiting list, I'm in, but if when you call me my funds are too low can I stay in the waiting list to get it later or can I give my place to another FC menber?

Somebody could post a picture of the HI side of the Nano for size comparison, thanks in advance
Here you go. Nano, UD Twig, and a HI.

Hey everyone

This is my first post on FC.

I got myself on 'the list' at the start of November.

At that point in time I had been off combustion for 2 months. I have an EQ and run it thru a bubbler. I like it so much it made me want something that worked even better with a water tool. I saw some videos of the HI in action and instantly wanted one. Got in touch with Allen and after a few emails I was living the list life.

I've been lurking since then and reading the thread from the beginning. Im up to page 111 and decided I'd come up to this end of the thread and say hello. The more I read the more I know I want to be a jedHI. The wait has been made more tolerable by watching all the videos ane listening to all the songs along the way. Plus I love a pun and there has been plenty of them.

Allens customer service seems unreal! The HI is just so gorgeous. I love the simplicity.

Anyway, enough rambling (im pretty vaked) I'll get back to my reading.

Lmao... figures you would beat me to the punch @Jeppy!!!

Well... my little beauty also arrived. And I also received a beautiful matching WonG and have put both to good and extensive use. :ko:

For this HI, I opted for the glass core and I am so glad that I did! I find that this is much better for me. I was having problems with the ss core getting too hot for me. Part of this is due to my other HI being made of yew and having 3 knots in the body of the HI. It runs very hot and I found myself either combusting or on the verge of it often. I don't have that concern with the glass core as it runs slightly cooler (or seems to). It's also samooooooth. :D I use it with the WonG Alan sent, as well as the GonG tube, if I want a glass on glass experience.

Alan's workmanship is amazing, as usual. I cannot find a single flaw in this HI. And..... I am so impressed that I've decided that this vape is the one I will break my video cherry on and have actually attempted to make one for you. This thing can milk a bubbler just as easily as my EVO. No shit.
Now... have mercy on me.... I've never made a vid before. And I got so damn high trying to make this one that I gave up after a while and this is what you get.... :ko: Welcome to the vaping room...

Thanks for the video !!! Just nice, you did it well !
Does the Hi was set on 12v for that milk ? Can you confirm if this is the Hibrid : ss sleeve around heater (if i'm not mistaken) with glass core. Or if this is an all glass core ? I had a talk with Alan but I can't find back if there was actually 2 different core : all glass and Hibrid (ss sleeve + glass). Seeing that I much more on for the Hibrid too ! Soon I hope...

Thank you @Bvapst :)

I am running the HI on the variable voltage that I got from Alan waaayyyyy back in the beginning. It doesn't have a digital display, but if I were to guess, I am running it right around the 12v mark. I can certainly try it with a standard 12v adapter and check for any difference in vape production.

I believe this is an all glass core; although @Alan would be the best one to answer that question.

I can see clearly now the smoke is gone...
I'm loving this little beast. Very deceptive as far as how high you can get on a small amount of herb.

I love the fact that I can leave it on all the time with no issues ala the LSV and it's size is perfect for mating with glass.

Thanks for posting the WonG photo @Jeppy
Thanks for posting the photo and video @momofthegoons A very nice first video. That glass heater cover can really crank out the heat. Makes it a tough decision on which to get. The WonG seems to be working wight.
@Bvapst - There are only two heater cover options. The glass cover or the ss cover. I have to install a 1/4" ss sleeve over the heating element for the glass cover. The ss cover needs no sleeve over the heating element so it has slightly better air flow. The ss roasting tubes are the only tubes that won't work with the glass heater cover.

I have been doing more experimenting with roasting tubes. The great luck I was having with the 18mm glass roasting tubes and fluidization led me to try the same thing with my 10mm roasting tubes for the HI. I had previously posted a photo of a wine cork tube I had made using 13mm glass tubing and a 1/2" screen. I just added another glass tube and screen to the tip.
In the photo below you can see how the glass tubes are arranged inside of the wine corks and locations of the screens. I replaced the mouthpiece tube with a 14mm GonG tube and tapered the cork to fit an 18mm fitting for the tube on top. The same tube will fit either 14mm or 18mm. Perfect for a HT. This tube won't work with the old style HI though. It needs to fit into a 1" diameter hole.
Since there are two screens, you can blow back into the roasting tube to clear the material from the second screen. It fluffs and stirs the material at the same time. The tip cork can be removed so that it can be used as a regular roasting tube and the heater cover can be inserted farther for higher temperatures. The screens are very fine and keep the glass and your lungs much cleaner.
I also figured out a way to do the same thing with my 5/16" ss roasting tips so that I can use 5/16" screens. This will prevent the screens from ever flipping and change out will be a snap. I won't have to dimple tubes any more. It will be similar to my slide in style tips, but the tubes will be held with some smaller cork pieces that I ordered. Will post some photos when I get some made.

Back to the laboratory.

Would blowing back in cause water to potentially soak the herb in a water tool if one was not careful? VERY interesting idea.

If there was a little blow back from the water, it wouldn't make a mess since it is contained in the chamber. I would blow through the tube after removing it to clear the chamber.

Good thinking.

@Alan ......When will the cork stems be available? Thanks.

EDIT: Here's another video same AC but with A Glasswork Orange tube. (It's a second I got for cheap.) Enjoy!

Thanks for posting the video. The air flow is so good through the U Tube. Pretty much the same as through the wine cork tube. I need to get some more wine corks bored, but should have some ready soon. Send me an email to alan@toasty-top.com and we can talk tubes.
