But cannot we create a NEW thread where we can discuss and compare/contrast the logs? I just think the mods don't think it's appropriate in THIS thread, which is for the HI only. I'd be surprised if it was frowned upon in a new thread, but I may be wrong because I noticed that the EVO/Herbalizer thread was shut down pretty fast too.

Tread lightly! I tried to start this exact thread (all data driven, less subjective than your average review) and was ran off by the mods in this place. Sad, as it obviously would have benefited many like yourself!

Each is slightly different and has its advantages and disadvantages. Tough to get an honest answer from fanboys in a specific thread. What may be a disadvantage of the HI may an advantage for others.

This is what you characterize as "being run off by the mods":

There are reasons why we have not allowed a bunch of comparison threads for similar vapes. While we can revisit the subject of this type of thread, there's currently no place or management approval for it. We allow questions from vapor newbies in Ask FC, and veteran forum members have read and posted in the vape specific threads and in many cases have tried/owned the similar models. If anyone can't see the potential problems with this kind of thread, combining newbie questions with arguments between fans, then they're only looking at it from one side. And doubling or tripling our staff size to deal with threads like this and whole sections devoted to specific vape models isn't something we want to do, and it would come with additional administrative issues as well. Compromising overall forum quality, in one way or another, isn't something we take lightly.

If we decide to allow A vs. B (or C and D) threads, there'll be a place for them, along with posting rules.

You refused to accept that reasoning and became both rude and huffy and stormed off not to be heard from again until you decided you wanted to use our Classifieds. You got all huffy again when you discovered that Classifieds are a benefit for active members, and that somehow doesn't include members who declare a boycott of FC and go inactive for over a year.

I leave the rest as an exercise for the reader.

As you can see above, our policy is exactly the opposite. Comparisons in model threads are unavoidable as long as they stay on track and don't get heated.

With that being said, I am the present owner of an E-nano, which is my first log vape and I am in love with it. Fortunately, my turn has come up on the HI waiting list, and I am unsure if I should pull the trigger on it now.

Can anyone who owns BOTH, please let me know their honest opinion on how they differ, other than the AC vs DC and fixed 12v PS and/or vvps? I love my Nano, and i'm sure i'd love the HI (as does every owner!) but if they are too similar then i'd hold off, and let another member jump ahead of me.

I would pose that question to Alan in email. He knows the differences better than anyone. He has used the nano as well.

I don't have a nano, but I've had three PD's, a HI and a POD for log vapes. It is my opinion that the HI is by far the best log vape available and you would be foolish to wait this long and not get it. The wait list for this vape is its only flaw. Although I will say I like Andy's use of the cord with the voltage control built into it. I prefer that to an exterior vvps. There...so that's two 'flaws' if you can call them that. But you better get this vape! If you decide you don't like it I am sure you can sell it in the classifieds with little loss.

That's a great point @stickstones! I completely forgot about that aspect if I don't like it. However, since I already have a log vape, and am budgeting for an EVO and possibly Herbie, it is a matter of dollar bills at this point. Thanks again.

Cool. They'll be doing it in a PM then. I have never owned a nano. I have seen one used at the Cannabis cup. Had I thought it was that great, I would have bought one. Enough said.

I've owned other logs (not the E-Nano), and with the VVPS, the HI can basically do w/e any of the other ones do and more I find.

It can be super efficient like a PD. I can be a flavour monster. It can be a heavy hitting glass milker. The VVPS give you a HUGE range of temps to work with.

I got my EVO months ago. My HI gets just as much use still. Even with glass. Actually, it's been really sad having lost my 14mm reducer, haven't been able to use the HI with my glass recently.

Either way, EVERYONE loves their HI. I've used a lot of vapes and honestly, the HI is one of my two favourites.

That's an important difference between the Nano (which runs on 115 volts AC power) and the other log vapes including HI, PD, and UD (which all run on 12 volts DC power).

Another new roasting tube configuration to announce. It is a wine cork with a 1/2" hole bored through it. A 13mm x 1" long glass tube fits into one end and a 13mm x 3.5" long glass tube fits into the other. A 1/2" screen is captured between the tubes. The air flow is just amazing. So easy to clean. Going to have to start drinking more wine or just get some new corks.

I have been asked a few times over the last year on so if I could install a HI core into a PD. The answer was always no since the hole was too large. The question was asked again so I thought about it some more. The new heater cover design should allow it so I agreed to give it a try.
I started by getting the leather bottom very wet by adding water drops until it was saturated. After a while it let go of the glue and I could take the leather bottom off. Water drops were added to the plug location to soften the glue until I could work out the plug. After removing the resistor and heat exchanger, I drilled a 3/8" hole through the center. The HI heater cover was installed after drilling some screw holes. The depth was just perfect. Soldered in a new resistor and closed it up. The leather went right back on after drying out. Can't even tell it was opened. The performance is now exactly like a HI. The outside of the wood hardly gets warm at all. The wood at the bottom was still in pretty good shape so it should last a long time now. You can see where the wood was starting to dry and crack from the heat exchanger.

I typically vape using a water-pipe of some sort, & that affects which Roasting Tubes work best / are used in general (IMO) . I will follow your lead; pick up arms (HIsabers), & embark on this honorable jedHI mission to flavor - country. Vape On & May the force be with you!
