I will be getting my unit without charger (already have a third party external charger on the way). I will update once I have my grasshopper in hand with pix/a video review. Hoping for a shipping notification soon.... :D

What I find fascinating is that it appears that their batteries are entirely custom cells....pretty awesome!

Well, the threat of a price hike finally compelled me to pull the trigger. Just placed an order for a purple ti with extra battery. I actually took a break from new vape purchases and this community for a couple years, content with my original "ticker" cloud, eq and mflb...so I missed the indiegogo hype and the long wait for this. I recently purchased an air and it has quickly become my daily driver, but the grasshopper looks too great to pass up.

I am dying to know how they get a 45w heater to run off one 3.7v battery.

Its not a continuous 45watts. It's been mentioned multiple times before. It can spike up to 45 watts, but it averages closer to 30 watts.

Moreover, the power is pulsed. Therefor it's impossible to make assumptions on power consumption without knowing the frequency of the power cycles.

This is what I was told by Trevor after waiving my charger:

" You will receive a stock Grasshopper charger in the future, but not until all other orders are fulfilled.
We recommend this 3rd party charger: http://www.all-battery.com/Tenergy_Li-ion18500_18650_14500_RCR123A_BatteryFastCharger-01270.aspx "

I bought that charger off Amazon for $14....it supports all sort of rechargeable cells. I originally thought they were using 14500's but from the battery dimensions the grasshopper battery is definitely longer and thinner, so I guess they have their own custom cells.

I will keep you guys posted. Before your unit ships you'll get an email asking to confirm or change your shipping address. I confirmed my shipping address yesterday so I anticipate my unit will ship very soon...hopefully.

The irony in all this, is I have two units ordered; one Holiday gift for a friend and a regular unit for myself....now I guess I'll be keeping the holiday gift edition for myself and gifting the other one when I get it :)

I actually wouldn't mind a link to that "low-cost external charger" they mention, I wonder what it is? :hmm:

Trevor told me: "You will be able to buy the 3rd party external charger (linked above apparently), but we are working on a much better one that we will sell through our site in a few months."

I'm in no rush so I'm going to wait to see what they come up with. Since I ordered an extra battery and am getting an extra battery thanks to the delay in shipping, I'm hoping they are making a two port model.

It can also be useful if you got more than one Grasshopper battery. You can always have one ready.

I must say this grasshopper vape seems to have all the perfect specs. If I understood well

- Pure convection (on demand or sessions)
- User replaceable batteries
- Best stealth. Looks like an ecig
- Portability. It's small
- Price 135$ can be a second or first vaporizer (usually people don't want to spend too much
money on something, a vaporizer, they are not sure to like compared to smoking)
- Quick start up time
- Lifetime warranty (edit)
- No, I'm not paid by the grasshopper company!
- Main drawback for me in a portable: Only partial passthrough. With a total passthrough, it basically turn any portable into a worry free home vape.
- I also hope it fares well with small loads <0.05g

They are other aspects but those are the main aspects for me.

You forgot to mention the most important one; the optional silicone tip (which allows for easy & painless insertion for ultimate stealth)
