Looks like things are coming together nicely! Remember these guys are young when you think about the missed due dates. It took me several missed deadlines in my youth to realize if I didn't at least double or even triple most design estimates I was setting myself up for disappointment.

Agreed. Delays are to be expected and should be included in all time lines. I may be mistaken here, but didn't the Principals here cite prior large project experience? Military Robots, IIRC?

It's a gray area between being optimist and realistic for sure. Even if you 'know the score'.

The project remains exciting. As I've said before if they deliver on even part of the features at anything close to $100 it'll shake things up in the vape world big time. That alone is worth the wait, IMO.

When actual working units end up in 'known' hands things will gel quickly I bet.

think they found out the difference between working on a design team for an established manufacturer and the effort it takes actually building it from the ground up. A year longer then they first thought really wouldn't be that bad all things considered imho.

You can tell it was a good update by the lack of pessimistic and negative comments. They've made real progress in the past several weeks.

Yeah, no kidding. Now that it looks almost imminent, the doubters are staying quiet.

However, and I hope this does not happen, if they have even one setback that puts them back two months, watch the shit fly.

Probably a combination of optimism, not expecting having to work with the manufacturers this much, and projects of this scale actually being pretty tough to make happen. They wanted to be able to ship them that early, but they were unsatisfied with parts and such and wanted to do it right instead of half-assing it. The 'Hopper is the kind of project where everything has to go together perfectly or else it won't work out. I'm totally okay waiting it out at this point. Everything seems legit and I'm trusting them to work hard and provide a satisfactory product.

Software finalization might have been a big part too. I think they mentioned they were still tweaking it on the 8/1 update.

Haven't mentioned it since, seems like it's done but there could be the possibility that they are still working on it (jut not telling us).

All in all, the update to me sounds like they are done with the software/component tweaking and gearing up for manufacturing.

Have any of their updates showed anything about the heater or the final battery? Pictures of little machined parts are cool and all but not really important in the grand scheme of things.

I guess I could mention I enjoyed that update more than any other. I would be wildly impressed if these ship by this month.

Here's hoping.

They are important because they show that the Grasshopper project is actually progressing. Those aren't generic parts. They provide credibility because nobody goes to those lengths just to squeeze a few extra bucks out of a swindle. The question still remains whether the GH will actually work, but I have no doubt they're trying to get something on the market.

I doubt that you'll see much detail about the heater or battery if they work as claimed, because that would be proprietary and not something they want competitors to see.

Yeah I completely agree. Consumers don't care about this stuff for the most part (yeah I realize a lot of you guys probably do, but you're not average) and it would be nice to see that there are actual electronics for it in existence and not just nonfunctionkng pieces of metal slowly slowly trickling in.

Anyone can outsource machining work though and thats not what is innovative about the vaporizer. I just figured more of the ground breaking stuff such as insulation, batteries, and the heater would get more updates than a few out sourced machined parts.

I thought Pakalolo explained pretty clearly why that would be unlikely.
Anyway, the whole thing is MADE of "outsourced machined parts", of course that's what they are showing us.

Am I not allowed to respond in disagreement to pak? I would sure hope the heater, battery, etc aren't made of outsourced machined parts... but whatever you say.

You are, but @zymos didn't say you couldn't either.

All of the parts will be outsourced. Surely you don't expect them to use their funds to build a production facility. There is no way they'll be making their own battery, for example. It will be made to their specs by someone else.

Obviously I know they wont be making their own battery. I was talking about machined parts that really mean nothing in the end game of if the grass hopper will work or not. I dont think its ridiculous to expect them to manufacture at least parts of the vaporizer them selves or to set up some manufacturing with the kick starter money. When I look at something like the sublimator machine shop it is kind of laughable that grass hopper makes a big deal about having someone else machine two rather easy to make parts for them.

I guess all I can do is wait till some time next year when I receive my unit to see the important stuff.
