yes sirr. somewhere it said there will be an oil end.

Interesting, I don't recall that and I usually pick up on such details...... Yet another neat feature others aren't able to deliver. As I said before, IMO if it delivers on even a part of it's claims it'll change the vape market in a useful way.

Fingers crossed, still sitting on wallet.

It doesn't make any sense for them to offer an oil front end IMO. I just can't believe it's possible to vaporize oils with convection, at least not without shooting out some seriously hot air. If so they would need to add a conduction-style heater into the front end that somehow hooks into the circuit when screwed on. TBH I'd rather just have an herb convection vape then the complexity of trying to have 2 separate heaters. This is the one part of the whole idea that I'm very skeptical of, and either way I don't see any backers getting a unit that will properly vape oil. I think they will have to refund everyone who chose that. Am I wrong?

Preloaded with oil? Doubt many people can get away with that. You can't use regular wax/oil IIRC, it has to be a PG/VG mix.
just get a regular e cig 510 and dab on the go..... really simple..... if you dont understand idk how you explain to you.

Just got the newest update email:

------------------

Hey Everyone,

We are here with our September 1st update. Things have been going well and we’re pleased with the results of our hard work. In the time since the last update, we’ve received more production parts, tested several assemblies, and continued to push our manufacturers.

On August 21st we received another batch of parts from our primary machining manufacturer. This batch included some of the most complex metal parts within the Grasshopper. The Dial and Forward Sleeve both took a great deal of design work and were challenging to produce. You can see some of the details in the photos below. We are pleased to have them complete and finally in our hands.

With the addition of these parts, we were able to test some of the first assemblies of the Grasshopper. With hundreds of hours of work having gone into each individual piece, it felt great to put some of them together and have them work exactly as planned. Parts from separate manufacturers matched up perfectly and we could not have been more pleased by the quality. You can the results in few pictures below, including the insertion of a custom-designed magnetic ring and a completed Back End and Dial assembly.

With these parts out of the way, we are pushing to get the remaining few metal pieces in. We are still waiting to receive the clip after some deformation problems which we mentioned in the last update. Our manufacturer has informed us that they will be shipping a preliminary batch out this week, so we expect to have some in-hand shortly. We;re also expecting the Body, Front End and various brass parts to arrive later this month. Our USB charging cables will be arriving this week, and that leaves us with our three PCB assemblies, which are currently undergoing manufacture.

We’ve been pushing very hard to get the first units out this month and this has been mostly very successful. But with our manufacturers’ unpredictable delays, it’s still difficult to say if we will hit our September deadline. The possibility exists, but based on their fickle past, we would ask that you remain patient and know that we are doing our very best to get you the Grasshopper as soon as we can.

Be sure to check for our next update on the 15th!

So, October then? How the hell were they originally planning for March 2014?
Probably a combination of optimism, not expecting having to work with the manufacturers this much, and projects of this scale actually being pretty tough to make happen. They wanted to be able to ship them that early, but they were unsatisfied with parts and such and wanted to do it right instead of half-assing it. The 'Hopper is the kind of project where everything has to go together perfectly or else it won't work out. I'm totally okay waiting it out at this point. Everything seems legit and I'm trusting them to work hard and provide a satisfactory product.

Which one?

Didn't they already miss one December release?

Then again, they say 'good things come to those who wait'. And Winnie (Chruchill) said "they too serve, who only sit and wait"........but he's dead now.

The Indiegogo project ended in December, and the projected date then was February. Still have bit to go before they miss a whole year of releases! :D

I think one of the reason we keep experiencing delays with crowdfunded projects is that the medium effectively encourages unrealistic timelines. Nobody would have invested in this if they come right out and said this is 10-12 month project barring delays, we don't even have the space rented and oh by the way we'll probably have to move out of state. There are no penalties for these delays and thus in order to raise funds 2-3 month timelines are typical even for complex projects that will ultimately take much, much longer.

not trying to single these guys out I think that's the nature of the game and to their credit they are appearing to make good headway now.

But did they take too long . . . V2 just came out with their Pro Series 3 which has interchangeable magnetic cartridges that will do e-liquids, loose leaf, and essential oils/waxes/gels. The V2 Pro Series 7, maximized for loose leaf, will be out this fall and the Series 9 in January.

if the product produces as advertised itll be worth the wait no doubt. esp after seeing the switch assembly... very nice!

honestly im still a bit skeptical, but would love nothing more to see this piece excel. i dig the build and esthetics of this vape for sure. if it works well ill take two.

Looks like things are coming together nicely! Remember these guys are young when you think about the missed due dates. It took me several missed deadlines in my youth to realize if I didn't at least double or even triple most design estimates I was setting myself up for disappointment.
