Discontinued The Grasshopper

So 4 broken ones, I am guessing if you jacked it up to 4 or 5 it would combust the herb?

Close to it. I like vaping on low temps, sipping. The device really is of no use to me as is. It just taste like dogshit.

zymos, I'm just a lowly bass player with smileys. Smileys make it all better.

Really, the excitement of the thing has kind of passed, which is good. Been using one on and off since mid Nov now, it's fine. They have some kinks to work out. No biggie. I'm getting tired of my old lady rubbing it in though. I'm willing to stick it through patiently, have other options to medicate with.

I'm anxious to see what options they give me in this scenario. Maybe they tell me to get bent? I have two (seemingly) broken ones here & really hate being that little bitch, ankle biter customer type. Hate that I'm probably coming off that way. Oh well, what can ya do? I've been super nice and patient, even added to my order.

Rock on

I just sent my mighty back because of it only issue which is the batteries running out of juice and not being able to replace on your own. Other than that it's probably my second favorite after the grasshopper.

Wow, that's exactly what I wanted to hear so thank you for your post! I love my Mighty's but sold my Crafty because of the potential I saw in my DOA GH. I don't think i've ever had such mixed emotions about a vape before!

However, temp setting 1 on the new one is equivalent to level 4 or 5 on the previous 3.

Fuck my life, so sorry to hear dude! Sounds similar to my DOA and I know exactly that taste of shit you're referring to!

I just cannot comprehend how they ship out that when it's highly unlikely to have broken in transit? I've got my eye on you bro, hope it works out well in the end, but damn you are way too nice and patient!

As much as I'm loving this unit in what little time I've had with it, I would not get rid of any Vape in its place too fast. Everything has its place, whether you need to session, or have a unit on hand when/if the grasshopper goes down.

I will, like a few others, be putting this thing through some heavy use... if I say testing it sounds more official, like I'm obligated to ghl to get as baked as possible this week.

I think a few others put it right. Even if this thing goes in for warranty, I'm sold on it. I would love to see fewer reports of failed units but as long as they are fixing them, I guess that's good. I'll be ordering another one in the future even (the wife likes it).

Good luck everyone else, hope you are in my shoes soon.

i would change a proper working GH to that "broken" near combusting GH at any time. i'm very greedy vaperist, so not minding popcorn taste. and why would someone call it a shit taste? have you tried to eat a shit? i got no clue how does it taste.

anywayz, popcorn flavor assures that all THC is in me and none is left in da herb.

How do you THINK shit tastes??

It's quite evident that his GH isn't working properly, and those combustion notes defeat the purpose of vaporizing. The GH max temp is 210c, not anywhere even close to combustion, just like my Mighty. Sounds like the GH just isn't for you. Perhaps something like a LOTUS would be more suitable.

Anyways, I gotta take a shit.

I think @biohacker had the same problem. I think his was orientated the wrong way around (e.g. 1max and 5min). Try yours at temp 3 or 4. Might work while you are waiting for a warranty response.

But you can always turn your unit to Max temp 5 anyway.
If you go too hot, then you are combusting, which defeats the purpose of vaporizing.
FUCK COMBUSTION!

Close @Thcgos, mine worked ONLY on temp 1, and that setting was close to combustion as well. No other temp settings worked, and the problem was the back end. Keeping my fingers crossed for the replacement, I really want this to be a keeper, especially since I ordered extra batteries, silicone cover, and leather sleeve!

Crafty yes, Mighty not a chance! I think the Mighty gets tied up with the Crafty far too often, and the Mighty does not have even a fraction of the issues as the Crafty from all of my research and reading on this forum. In fact, I don't think the Mighty really has any issues that deserve being mentioned. The GH and Crafty on the other hand...
Not to get sidetracked, but I thought the Mighty had the same broken fins issues as the Crafty...

I don't mean to go off topic either, but I'll answer your question. Probably better to take any further questions to the crafty/Mighty threads.

Mehh the cooling fins, apart from acting as a heatsink, aren't a big issue. It does not alter it's performance or function.

I think you mean the housing that the cooling unit attaches to. That's much less common these days, they reinforced it very shortly after the initial release for both crafty and mighty.

Both units are pretty solid in general, the most common issue with the mighty was intermittent vibrate feature and err002. But I concur with others posts on here, anecdotal evidence from FC threads would suggest the mighty is much more reliable.

Having said that, my original crafty with over 1 year of use and 40-50hrs (of actual vaping hrs) is still going strong.
My friend got to 130hrs before he needed a battery replacement, (which was expensive! AUD$120) (AUD$1=~CAD$1 FYI). Nothing else went wrong.
Batteries are a weak point for the crafty and mighty.... but with the mighty the battery replacement is far less often.

I had to return three craftys and two mightys (paid for an upgrade on my last crafty return). Like many have said about the hopper the crafty And mighty are great when they work) All five returns were when the on/off button stopped working. The last two mightys were particularly bad as they worked only a couple weeks before they quit. My ss and ti hoppers going strong for about a month now, daily driver no issues. Most recent mighty going for about a month now ok.

Sorry to hear that, I have had 4 Mighty's without a single issue. I sold my first two because I thought i'd only need them in the summer, but after they were gone and I purchased other vapes I quickly regretted selling either of them, and now ended up with two again (got a great deal from a forum member).

The GH is the only vape out of about 30 vapes i've owned over the past decade that has arrived DOA. Then again, the inhalater lasted a day before it self destructed and fell apart (kinda like the GH back end coming apart youtube video)!

I own or have owned the Firefly, Pax, Pax2, Mivape and grasshopper and only one of them has never broken so far, the pax2. Raise your hand if the pax2 is your FAVORITE vape.

Only on turned me from a SMOKER to a VAPORIST and that is the grasshopper. Continuing with the car analogy I make, the pax2 is Toyota reliable, yeah it never breaks but who cares, I'd rather walk than drive the thing where the Grasshopper (in my experience) is BMW reliable, almost never breaks, but when it's down, it's down, but who cares because like BMW giving you a full size spare tire, the company philosophy of grasshopper is to not leave you stranded (read lifetime warranty).

The term I take from my auto industry days (no offense to the ladies, in fact, not having invented the phrase, I take the subtext to mean, WORTH IT) "if it has tits or wheels it's gonna give you problems" I guess one could add produces tasty vapor to the list because my only vape that hasn't broken so far is the one that's weakest on flavor production. And perhaps I'm just lucky with the pax2 or worse and perhaps likely, I just don't use it enough to break it. I think even Steve Jobs once boasted that they fix more iPads than some competitors sells, the subtext being that things don't break if they aren't being used.

All that to say, I haven't seen one thread of a vape anybody actually cares about that isn't filthy with returns. What I have seen, unlike Santa Clause or the Easter Bunny is actual people building actual grasshoppers and shipping them. What I have seen is that every GH they have made is sold and way beyond that number and if they had twice the capacity they probably still couldn't meet the demand because they need probably more than triple the capacity to do that. What I have seen is the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of customers have few if any QC issues, and even fewer still cancellations or returns, which would almost be a relief of those cancellations and returns weren't replaced with double and triple the new orders.

From QC Grasshopper seems on par if not better than this, lets not forget, NASCENT industry. Where the company does stand out is that it's not financed by a large vending machine company (mivpae) a tobacco conglomerate (pax before ploom spun off for pax2) or venture capital (firefly).

The Grasshopper is a true equity company. They raised capital not from investors but from those who could give them the seed money in exchange for the product, what Thomas Jefferson would have called a "subscription" and finance continued operations through sales. Even if this product wasn't a revolution in vape tech, which I think many who actually have experienced a functioning one and not too high to find their way to the thread would agree that it is, I would be 100% behind GHL because of their back to the future business model. In our economy where most people's angst, whether they realize it or not is because of the negative social externalities of our current (in the US specifically) capital formation and allocation, it is really great to see pure entrepreneurism. Particularly when the product kicks the ass of investor backed units.

So for those that a lifetime warranty isn't good enough, I'm sure there is some Toyota that will meet your needs. For the rest of us, lets enjoy our "BMW" rely on the lifetime warranty (if, and there are many people out there who have not used their warranty yet, not because they stopped using the product but because a. it hasn't broken and b. some people with minor problems that GH would like to fix, those folks are waiting for it to be "actually broken" before sending it in because they are so happy about with it. And I know that's true even if they hadn't said that because a. I've seen plenty of posts on this thread to that effect and b. I'm I the same place with my mivape right now where I could send it in but it's really not broken enough.

To channel my inner Marie Antoinette (and yes I know she actually never said it) If you can't get by on one Grasshoper, buy 2.

Which is half joking because my 2 grasshoppers are still cheaper than 1 firefly which also broke a few times and now that I have a grasshopper I never use.

The only device I ever had that never broke was joint, bongs drop, vapes break, batteries die and life goes on.

Now cue two or three useful posts on the product (this not being one of them) followed by 3 more pages of how, somehow, GHL isn't working 7 days a week and how the flavor isn't good and how the tip is too hot yadda yadda, while the majority of us GH owners sit back and enjoy the tidy little revolution in our pockets.

Ya no kidding, i've owned 30 and this is the ONLY one that has had to be sent in for warranty (sold my Crafty before I had that honour!). Furthermore, i've own many multiples of the same vape over the years and not a single warranty required. Guess i'm just really lucky, and unlucky with the GH (as are countless others)!

So when you get your BMW back from service, are there scratches on the doors or fenders? What about cigarette butts? What about getting your BMW back and it still not fixed?? These are some of the experiences customers are having recently.

But when it works, it really works well..... so I think you have something there about buying two, since they aren't BMW priced (yet).

@slcbdco Have you been hired by HL in any capacity?

This is very reassuring to me. I feel like as long as enough of us stay the course and continue supporting GHL, they are going to make this work and we'll end up with a truly amazing piece of kit. Hearing that there is such high demand is great news, even if it means it will take longer for me to get my GH.

THIS! THISTHISTHIS!!! Thank you for this! Sometimes I feel like a freak because it seems like I'm the only one who cares about stuff like this anymore. I'd rather "tough it out" with a small group of humans working out the kinks than feeding some mega-corp. Doing the latter may cost YOU less, but everything has costs and those costs don't go away because you don't pay them. If it's cheaper for you, that just means it's costing someone else more; either in money, quality of life, or environmental degradation.

I'm happy to use my other vapes while waiting for GHL's game changer. And if it needs to go back; I'll just consider myself lucky to have such first-world problems.

I wish I had the time to comb this thread and create some sort of spreadsheet that illustrates what at least FC customers' experiences have been! My overall impression is that the majority are definitely having some issues.

If I had a working hopper, I wouldn't post about it here. To me it seems almost everyone that comes in to tell of X month's long problem-free operation comes back here a few weeks later with their warranty sob story. :ugh: Maybe this thread is cursed by the vapor gods.

Well I know that when I have my working GH, I sure WILL be posting about it! And I can't wait! But my MV and Alfa have just arrived, so at least they can tide me over.

Actually I shouldn't joke, since that's essentially what happened to mine- had been working fine, I put it down, and the next time I tried to use it, it was broken- so it DID break just sitting there unused.

I Have never written a review, blog, or comment on the web in my life. That being said, I was a late original backer and received my hopper about 2 months ago. I had never heard of FC prior to ordering a grasshopper. I checked this site religiously until my hopper came (1 have been reading since this post started). This is the first time back since it arrived (about 2 months). I have had no issues with my TI GH it works just like everyone else has said (unless theirs is faulty). The flavor is amazing, it gets a little hot, but no big deal. A dozen or so friends have used it and loved it. 6 have ordered 1 or more for themselves. I warned them of the wait, most of their responses were "who cares as long as I get one."
