Just a short update about "german customs vs grasshopper":
They sent it to the "Bundesnetzagentur" and they decided that I can get my grasshopper. Yippie:party:

Edit: In my euphoria i didn't read that:
I have to show them a german manual.
I hope it's ok If I write it by my own. Has anyone a pic of the original manual? I think I saw one in the old grasshopper thread.

Thank you!
Hey, try contacting GHL and suggest to translate it for them in German? I could do the same for French and we certainly have a few internationals here that might have good translation skills? Then they could make an international manual for the convenience of non English speakers and customs. By the way I work in localization so if you need help with this I'll be glad to give a hand.

I wrote them that I could translate it for them but no answer...

Would have been nice if they made the manual without words, like Ikea instructions.

Got my ti hopper 2 days ago. The temp selector was frozen on setting 3, which gave good results . After several loads, the temp wheel started to loosen a bit. Got great results yesterday, and then, nothing! Tried all 3 batteries, tried all temp settings, Dead! What was that contact for Trevor again? Sent a note to the support
squad last night.

For me, the Grasshopper kicks the ESV squarely in the balls, no contest!

Many vapes & accessories. Always happy to help
Oh man, feel deeply sorry for you. Too bad to hear they are still shipping bad units...
Don't wanna sound sarcastic but I feel better knowing I got a 19XXX pre-order - ETA november. Hope they get stables unit out until then. As a non-US customer sending back (again and again?) a dead GH would kick me in the nuts big time moneywise.
For all owners of faulty units I hope replacements arrive the soonest and will give you the pleasure of a 100% nicely working GH that lasts for a long time.

Makes me nervous about mine (I too have a Nov ship date, bought 2 months back). I have close to 100 vapes, several glass pieces, a couple enail (if you follow my IG you can see how many I have) and my first problem with a vape's performance was the miVape and that was handled wayyyyyyyy beyond my expectations (serious props to Dan of Vaporfection).

I do see that you do get a replacement but my question is as they upgrade, fix bugs and improve; will everyone eventually get the "final" GH or are you stuck with whatever version you get shipped?

As long as it's switched off you can store it underwater in your aquarium all night & you should be covered. The cancer thing is a bit off putting but as long as my doctor thinks it's ok for me to use a vaporizer disguised as a pen I'll be safe?
Weirdest manual ever.

I think it has a lot to do with the way the laws in the U.S. (and even down to the specific state) are written. Pretty much everything carries a Prop 65 "maybe you might one day in the distant future get cancer because some mice did a long long long time ago under different circumstances." I'm surprised my toilet paper doesn't have one too.

hmm, so it's official , the GH gives you cancer and is not for use with Cannabis?

I guess I can take that off my Christmas list then :hmm:

Also, according to a thread over on reddit, GHL says not to use it at all if the ambient temperature is 90F or over.
Which means I won't be able to vape with it in the summer. Unless I go I my car and crank the AC.

The manual states "Never operate the product below 0c (32f) or above 32c (90f)", I thought vaporising didn't start until @ 285f.

The manual sounds like it was written in China, not a good sign!

That's the environmental operating temperature, not the temperature inside the vape. The recommend temperature range is to keep the battery in an optimal state to deliver current to the electronics.

I received both of my stainless Grasshoppers on Tuesday and have been really underwhelmed with them.

Both get extremely hot during use (like the metal on a lighter that's been lit too long), and I have found that the Grasshopper uses more material, delivers fewer hits, and medicates less than my Solo.

I've been emailing Hopper Labs about the heat issue since Tuesday, but their stance is that it's perfectly normal for the body of the Grasshopper to exceed 90° in your hands (I sent them a photo of my digital thermometer reading 97.8°), and their best advice was to use it less.

Before I post these on eBay, I'm trying to see if anyone else's experience has been similar, or if I should continue pressing for replacements.

Thanks

Try turning it off near the end of your draw. This will remove the heat from the heat exchanger and reduce amount of heat going into the body.

It will certainly deliver fewer hits than a solo, since it extracts all the cannabinoids much faster through convection. Not really sure what to say about it being less efficient than a solo. Doesn't seem possible as the solo is sitting there cooking the load even when your not hitting it.

Doesn't seem like there is anything wrong with your unit, don't see why you would get a replacement. Since as you mentioned on reddit the body is evenly hot, not just at the backend.

Sounds to me you are using it like a slow session vape like the solo, when its meant to be more of a one hit and quit unit.

I do turn it off between hits.

I click it on, wait a few seconds for it to warm up, the light goes red to blue, then I take a strong, steady, 10 second hit. Then I click it off and hold the hit for 20 seconds before exhaling. I repeat this until the bowl is kicked - which took me 23 minutes here.

I backed and pre-ordered with the impression that I could replace smoking a bowl or a joint with the Grasshopper, but after use, I agree with you that it's more of a sipper/micro-doser than a session piece.

That's not what he meant. He's saying while you're drawing turn the unit off before you're finished hitting it. Keep drawing while it's off for a few seconds.

Not surprised in the slightest that it's too hot after 23 min of 'continuous' use.

I'd me more annoyed that it took me 23 min to finish a 1/2 tsp of herb & by the sounds of it the Solo takes you even longer to session it.

Do you have a water piece to try it with at higher temps?

IMO any good vape cannot be used to "session", I'd be way too high/wasting herb. It's not going to replace a joint, it should render it obsolete, giving you stronger effects with way less product.

Yeah, I've got one of these that I can try but I'm hesitant about doing something that will make the Grasshopper even hotter.

That's 23 minutes to kick probably because I had to keep the temp setting low enough (2.5) for the Grasshopper to keep from getting too hot.

Trevor tells me to turn it down further and hit it less frequently in order to keep it from getting hot.
