@Ratchett great explination on clouds! Ive recently stopped chasing clouds and am enjoying my experience. Im wondering where the GH stands with ghost hits/effect.
Very true! When switching from combusting, I decided by my 3rd session, there is no need for clouds in order to get medicated. I prefer no one see what I am doing anyways when in public.

Those sure are a lot of problems they had to correct to have been "on track" at some point.
I work in a production type job so I guess I can relate to manufacturing problems. It seems to me with 60 custom parts in a tiny ass package, I am amazed they got it working at all this fast.

I can not wait to see what these guys come up with next. ;)

I use my hoppers mainly for quick hits on the go. My ESV served me well for the last year but the hopper has it beat for effectiveness, convenience and stealth. With the hopper, there is no need to stir your load and there is little risk of scorching/burning. Easy to clean too.

For extended sessions, I will probably use the Daisy, Lily, Hammer or the Air. Right now, the Hopper fulfills my need for an on the go vape very well.

Those sure are a lot of problems they had to correct, and massive ones at that, to have been "on track" at some point.

Perhaps it's more a timing issue, that is problems were sure to crop up at some level? Ideally they'd have been uncovered and fixed earlier on, but it might not be 'unrecoverable' at this point?

Being "on track" doesn't mean you can't be derailed. It also simply being on track doesn't mean you can't be rushing forward at an unsafe speed for the conditions?

Time will tell if the list of problems is too daunting for the resources......let's hope that's not the case?

Keep in mind you can minimize vapor clouds by inhaling less vapor and holding your hit for several additional seconds. Sometimes I enjoy pulling a HUGE whitewall cloud through my waterpipe and holding my breath as long as possible then exhaling zero clouds.

Another thing to remember is that your Pax vaporizer is a conduction based vaporizer - it is cooking the herb while the heater is on, producing vapor the whole time (unless you go idle the Pax will reduce heat until you begin to use again). The Grasshopper uses convection heating. This means it is not cooking the herb unless you inhale. If you want a big hit - take a big drag. Want a tiny discrete hit, take a small puff.

You should be able to medicate at any temperature with zero clouds if you desire, it's all a matter of how much herb you want to consume in one hit.
Thanks for your input @Ratchett... And I like the new pax2 caps I just got! Another addition to my stealthiness ;)

Small particles get past the mouthpiece screen, so using it dry results in these being consumed. Some won't notice this, but I am sensitive to particulates in my vapor. Another reason I use water filtration when possible. I use a pretty fine screen in all my Air stems that I use dry to avoid just this issue. Not a deal breaker, but an irritant.

Have you tried it with unground, broken up bud as opposed to grinded? Much like the way you stuff the solo stem at the base then inhale, might solve your problem. Anyone tried using the crafty/mighty filling tool yet would work perfectly in theory.

Now that's what i wan't to hear. I like my Esv and all but it has to be broken down and cleaned a lot.

Id be a happy camper if the crafty/mighty filling tool was a mighty/crafty/grasshopper filling tool @anasrzi! If no one confirms Ill report once the hopper has hopped in my home!

Sadly, it's not. Got my hopper today and the chamber is a lot thinner than the crafty/mighty one so it falls right through :(.

Side note: Anyone with a GH have a distinct "whistling" sound when inhaling?

A few observations after a few days and a few bowls:

I haven’t had any problems so far. The back end has stayed cool. Barely even gets warm after extended use.

Build quality is VERY high. (for the Ti model, can’t speak for SS) The attention to detail shows even in the box presentation. The whole package is just SO elegant.

You need to do a thorough burnoff. There was quite a bit of vapor that took 10 cycles to get rid of at setting 5. The first cycle got most of it, and it was substantial and very visible. From the 2nd cycle onward, there was no vapor visible until the very end of the cycle, and it was only little wisps of vapor that continued for 5 or 6 seconds after shutoff. I was using a very bright LED flashlight against a black background to check, and the vapor on the later cycles was very hard to see. On the 6th cycle, the overheating protection with the red/blue flashing LED kicked in. I waited a few minutes, turned it on and it was good to go. I think it’s possible the one person that reported bad taste may not have burned off all the manufacturing oils, because the vapor from my Hopper during the burnoff smelled pretty nasty. It would be easy to think the burnoff was complete when it wasn’t, because no vapor showed up until the very end of the cycles, and I could barely see it with optimal lighting.

Extraction is uniform and complete. You can set your preferred temp and get a consistent, even browning at whatever shade you want.

You can vary your temp and draw to get the kind of vapor you like, whether it’s light MFLB-type vapor or heavy Hammer-like hits.

Battery life is a non-issue, at least for me. I ordered 2 extra batteries, but I’m a lightweight and probably won’t need them at all. On a side note, my Hopper was in transit for 10 days, and this is what the battery voltages were on arrival — 3.98, 3.91, and 4.31 for the one inside the Hopper. I thought the 4.31 reading might indicate a problem with the charger, so I decided to charge the 3.98 battery to see where it ended up. Charging cut off at exactly 4.2 volts, so I was happy about that.

The auto shutoff has not been a problem for me. I typically take what I would consider medium-strength draws and the Hopper detects them just fine. I tested this by not starting to draw until the Hopper was on for 15 seconds. IMO there’s no need to venture into Hoover territory to avoid the auto shutoff.

I’ve found the silicone tip unnecessary unless going above setting 4. Someone earlier in the thread had suggested turning off the Hopper at the end of the draw, and what I do is click it off about 5 seconds BEFORE the end of the draw. This cools down the front end substantially to the point where it’s just warm.

Taste is almost as good as the FF IMO. And I think that’s just because the FF vapor is cooler. Because temp does make a difference to our taste buds.

Loading can be a bit of a pain, but it's not that big of a deal.

Overall, I’m very satisfied, and feel that I got more than my money’s worth, even with a wait of almost 2 years. At the current pre-order prices, I think the Hopper is a steal. So I’m getting another one. Yes, it’s still honeymoon time, so I’m going to wait a few more weeks to be absolutely sure, but I see some thinning of the herd in my future.

I would make a minor change to the charger. Because the magnet is so strong, it is a little difficult to remove the connector by gripping it directly — there’s not enough surface area to get a good grip. I think if the connector had a knurled finish and was maybe .5 to 1mm larger in diameter than the main body, it would be very easy to get a good grip and slide off the charger when you want to disconnect. I see people in videos using the cable to pull off the charger, and it is easy to do it that way, but I think that’s putting too much strain on the cables. Maybe it’s just me, and they’ve engineered enough strength into the cables so that disconnecting like that won’t cause failure in the long term? IDK, it just goes against my grain to disconnect like that.

Instant heatup, fast extraction, even ABV, no stirring, stealth, impressive build quality, not to mention...

a VERY NICE BOX!

I think it’s a game changer. The only question is reliability. Will the Hopper hold up under extensive use for months and years? That’s the big unknown at this point, and IMO the only thing that could stop the Hopper from becoming the top choice for anyone looking a buy a portable vape.

I have several other highly-rated vapes, and if I had to choose one to keep, I would definitely pick the Grasshopper. Now I need to order a backup.

@slcbdco

Would it be possible for you to use your simple country lobbyist skills to lobby Trevor and Matt to change the charger connector finish from smooth to knurled?

Also, I like the natural Ti finish, but when I have two of them, I would like to be able to see which Hopper is which without checking the serial number. I had a thought that maybe there could be an option for natural Ti finish with just the backend being colored. So everything, the main body and even the clicker would be natural Ti, and there would just be a small band of color showing at the back between the clip and the clicker. I think it would add a subtle accent that would look good even if you only had one Hopper.

So could you use your lobbying skills to ask for a “semi-colored” option? :)

And to all who made it this far: sorry about the length of this post! It won't happen again.

TLDR - Believe the hype!

Awesome review , great read got me even more excited like many here for mine to come. Was wondering if you been packing it full and about how many sessions with 1 packing at what temp your getting ? I know outcome will be different for everyone depending on material & temps used but I am just interested to hear many peoples results. Thank you for the review .

I don't know if I'd call it sessions, because it's so quick, and a couple of draws puts me in a good place... Anyway... I would say a full bowl gets me about 10 good draws going from setting 3 up to setting 4. I could probably get a couple more if I wanted to move up to 5, but then I would need to deal with the hassle of a WP or tubing.

Great first impressions marduk and thanks for all that info! Could you provide details as to how you did the burnoff cycles? Turning it on and letting it heat up wouldn't be enough without drawing air, would it? Now that more hoppers have made it to vapers, I think we should have a guide or a few listed guidelines as to how to burnoff and initially test the unit for any of the known defects such as the overheating. This would help the trial and error process of having a unit you're not sure will fail after a few weeks.
